Viaggio Estate & Winery is a winery and wedding destination in Acampo, CA. A private venue surrounded by natural beauty, the estate invites couples to celebrate on its extensive grounds supported by a family-led staff of event specialists. Located within driving distance of San Francisco and Sacramento, it is an ideal choice for couples seeking a luxurious country retreat that is easily accessible.
Viaggio Estate & Winery rests upon the sun-soaked plains of San Joaquin County, in an area famed for its vineyards. The property was founded by husband-and-wife team, Larry and Teri Lawrence. As Head Winemaker, Teri brings her background in microbiology and creative vision to bear on the estate’s grape production. Larry, in turn, manages the operations and daily maintenance of the winery that keep everything running smoothly. Not content with just making delicious wines, they soon set their sight on creating precious wedding memories too and opened their breathtaking estate for events.
A tasteful carved fountain welcomes guests as they arrive at the striking villa which resides at the heart of the winery. Its European-inspired style encompasses arched windows and robust columns for a facade capped by a large balcony with views over the estate. Couples can host the ceremony of their dreams on a pristinely manicured lawn bordering the banks of the Mokelumne River’s undulating waters. Guests are free to wander in the gentle Californian sunshine, exploring the extensive vineyards and secluded walnut orchards. As dusk descends, the winery’s banquet hall provides a spacious setting for a night of celebrating. Its exposed beams and stone flooring echo its natural surroundings and can be artfully decorated to suit couples’ tastes. Guests can retire to one of five themed bedrooms in the Villa, all of which feature king-sized beds for a peaceful sleep.
Viaggio Estate & Winery’s family-run ethos means its staff takes extra pride in tending to the needs of guests. The dedicated event manager will be happy to assist couples to organize all the fine details of their big day, so they don’t have to break a sweat. As the venue rests upon acres of vineyards, it is no surprise that the winery offers a diverse selection of premium quality wines. Larry and Teri understand how special your big day is to you, and are happy to share their venue with you.

Viaggio Estate & Winery Reviews
Brianne Wallace(other)1 out of 5 Rating
There were few Viaggio employees that made this experience the best it could be. To those people, my largest thank you! You made it bearable. I’ll also say yes….It’s long. But before scrolling to the short review, please read..the individual replying to the negative comments here is lying. Their only priority is money no matter the cost. Charging top-dollar for below bottom service. So it's a long review but it’s everything I wish someone told me…I had planned my wedding for two years. Frequently coming to the venue to see how it was run. I read reviews. I researched several venues. Yet, I chose Viaggio because of how gorgeous it was. Most people were friendly, and the convenience it provided those traveling from out-of-town. I would later realize, I should’ve walked away when I had the chance. I should’ve listened to the bad reviews. My experience was appalling. I thought my wedding would be different. I thought it would be the one that worked out because I am a great planner. I stayed organized, but none of it mattered. My wedding was early June 2023. This list is a VERY brief summary of what I wish someone told me....>Went through 3 wedding coordinators, in a span of 2 years.>I had to reach out to the venue to find out about all changes, no introductions.>No communication for weeks during critical decisions time. >Poor financial management. >No one available to receive payments. >Instructed to leave payments with random employees, then bing blamed for doing so.>Lost checks. >Careless w/ details. I made sure details were in place at all times.>Management was rude, discriminatory, speaking out of term, insulting friends, not catering or accommodating any needs, not providing fair compensation.>Did not communicate to clients the ceremony site flooded completely (1-month prior to wedding day) due to historic weather. >Did not communicate clearly the day-of >Didn’t show up at expected time (in AM) >All areas we were going to get ready, on day-of were locked. >Random wine tasting guests + families were looking into the wedding party getting ready. Extremely inappropriate. >Wedding party had to go out of their way several times before staff stepped in. >Father of Bride had to guard the doors.>Ran out of water bottles guests. Wedding day was 90 degrees. >Staff throwing drinks at the family of the bride & groom due to frustration.>No clean utensils, dishes, etc in the kitchen. >Garbage was confusing. Ran out of bags. >A/C wasn’t functioning in the upper level of the Villa.>People walking on property.>Minimal water pressure.>Had to contact the property manager for WiFi.>Extensive fines for using the pool incorrectly. To the point where it deterred us from swimming.I’d like to say; the venue itself has so much potential. I think Viaggio used to be great, but at some point things changed. I’m not sure when, all I can speak to is my experience over the last 2 years. If I could give one piece of advice: be careful. Be certain in your decision. If it were up to me, I’d go somewhere else. Not because it wasn’t beautiful. It was everything I wanted and more. On the other hand, in my opinion, the people who I had to deal with in the process, didn’t make it worth it. I’m not sure if the people running the page will take this review down. Or try to deny it, similar to others that left unfavorable reviews. Further, I felt like what I had to say was necessary for myself, and others. It is just bad business. Reviewed on 27-06-2023
Kendra Perry ( now Fong)(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-10-2022 We got married 10.29.22! Amazing day for us, our guests had the greatest time. Amazing location and pictures. However, we have a lot of negatives to highlight. The lack of communication and coordination by Viaggio was a complete nightmare. An appeal for us committing to get married at Viaggio was location, mansion on site, and day of coordinator. We experienced constant turnover with their coordinator since committing a year prior to our wedding date. They were unable to locate our 1st payment and they had to inquire with us the exact amount and when the check was deposited. At one point, they adjusted our food pricing to a higher amount. We were proactive in our communication and reached out ourselves as we received zero communication from Viaggio close to 30 days of our wedding. We were informed 3 days before our wedding; one of the appetizer options were no longer available. We paid additional money to extend our reception by an hour. Because of that, we had to pay a mandatory $5/pp for the alcohol. However, alcohol was not served for at least 30 minutes after our reception started. We had a line of people waiting to order drinks, including our parents. Their staff was “ taking a break.” We didn’t pay for their staff to take breaks nor is it our concern if you they didn’t hire staff members to fulfill the responsibility to support bartenders at our wedding. We have requested money back but they won’t acknowledge this happened. Sadly, there was no knife available on our dessert table to cut our wedding cake. They were supposed to provide one. Our cake was cut and was not served to either bride or groom or placed on our sweetheart table. One of our tables didn’t receive a full plate of food due to the limited amount cooked / prepared. There should have been ample food for all guests as we paid for buffet style and not plated. Our guest complained the reception chairs were dirty and dusty. Day of coordinator was non-existent until a few hours before our wedding even though both bride and grooms tribe was getting ready on property. We thankfully “hired” a friend to help with day of coordinating, if not, our wedding wouldn’t have been as smooth as it was. Our photographer and videographer, first time shooters at Viaggio were not approached by Viaggio introducing themselves or checking in with them throughout the entire day. We received multiple complaints the way day of coordinator communicated to our wedding party even our parents and our guest during sparkler send off...screaming at them. All the owner cares about is money. She takes zero accountability for any downfalls by Viaggio. It is quite comical she has such a strong opinion based on our feedback but was nonexistent through the entire process! She isn’t apologetic and has lack of empathy for any negative experience a bride and groom faces during their journey with Viaggio. She admittedly deletes negative reviews. Family/friends have written reviews on other sites to share their experience- yelp, google etc and the owner ,Teri ,calls everyone liars. ^Our list could go....PLEASE feel free to contact us @ broncoandraider@gmail.com for additional feedback of our experience. Robin Curry(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-08-2019 I got married at Viaggio on August 10, 2019. It was an absolutely beautiful venue, and I am so happy that we chose to be married there! I was originally worried about the heat, but because the venue is right on the river, it stayed nice and cool throughout our outdoor ceremony. The indoor reception space was easy to decorate because it is already such a beautiful space. Many of our guests enjoyed wine tasting in the tasting room on their own before the wedding. Viaggio's event coordinator, Angelina, and her assistant, Bailey, are so patient, knowledgeable, flexible, and dedicated to their work. I seriously didn't have to worry about a thing because I knew I could count on Angelina! The owners and other employees there are also wonderful and accommodating, and made sure that we and our guests had an amazing time. My wedding party and I also stayed in the villa that is on Viaggio's property for an additional fee. I'm so glad we did this, as this is a pretty rural area and there is not an abundance of hotels, etc. It was a great place for all of us to stay, and everyone in my wedding party had a great time there. Angelina and Bayley were amazing, they went above and beyond on everything. They took care of every single little detail from the beginning to the end. It was the easiest wedding process I could have asked for. If you're looking to have a nice relaxing wedding day Viaggio is your place! The vendor package is also amazing, we were not disappointed by anything. The baker, photographer, florist, DJ... ALL AMAZING. Angelina and Bayley, we cant thank you enough for all you did! We explained to them that we have all orientations of people coming to our wedding and we want everyone to feel welcome... when you google Viaggio only negative headlines come up! We don’t want to start our married life at a place with such negativity. Stephanie Edwards(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-05-2019 Gorgeous Venue & Amazing People! My husband and I were married here in May 2019 and were absolutely blown away at how beautiful the grounds were this time of year with all of the flowers in bloom. The wedding staff were all incredibly kind and helpful throughout the entire planning process & the wedding itself. Viaggio offers a vendor package, which we used. The package included the photographer, DJ, florist, and bakery for the wedding cake. We loved this package option because it greatly reduced the time it took for us to find good vendors during the planning process and all of the vendors are familiar with the venue and the staff, which helped everything run smoothly for the wedding. All of our guests loved venue. Not to mention that the food & wine were great too! We even had our rehearsal dinner and day after brunch at Viaggio as well. Reviewed on 13-06-2019
Vlada Glahn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-05-2019 My husband and I were married at Viaggio on May 4, 2019 and the entire experience was an absolute dream. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we fell in love. We first went to the tasting room while waiting for Larry to take us on our tour. And let me tell you, the wine was SO good and the tasting room staff made us feel welcome! Larry was a wonderful tour guide; he was very friendly and seemed excited to host our wedding. Viaggio was the very first venue we toured and honestly, we were ready to sign the contract right there on the spot. But I remember my husband and I kept thinking that we can’t just book the first venue we tour. Afterwards, we visited additional wineries in Northern/Central California (including one that was originally my “dream” venue). However, Viaggio set the gold standard for what we wanted, and none of the other venues we toured compared. With Viaggio, you get a beautiful ceremony lawn, a river, a cool tasting room, many seating areas, a swing, plus lots of other photo props, and flowers growing EVERYWHERE (at least in May)! Our guests are STILL singing praises of the venue.\tAside from the beautiful grounds, one of the best things that came with the venue was our coordinating team: Angelina and Bayley. I am FOREVER grateful for their help in making our dream wedding come to life. They were able to answer any and all questions that we had (which were a lot), they were willing to work around my husband’s and my work schedule when it came to meetings, and I never had an issue getting a hold of them. They were constantly in contact with me, giving me updates, and sending me reminders when “wedding brain” would take over. Not only do they display great professionalism, but working with the two of them feels like working with your two best friends who are so excited to help you plan your wedding. They are so patient and accommodating and genuinely friendly that working with them was like a breath of fresh air in the craziness that comes with wedding planning. I honestly don’t think our wedding would have been as lovely and (mostly) stress-free if it wasn’t for them. \tAnother perk of this venue is the AMAZING Chef Bernard. Let me tell you, that man is a culinary genius. When we first toured the venue we ran into a couple that had just gotten married there. All they were raving about was the food. We thought “well maybe they’re coming off the wedding high, most wedding food is just okay”. We were wrong. At our dinner tasting I swear my husband and I were ready to lick our plates clean. EVERYTHING was delicious. We had a lot of compliments from the guests about the dinner, many agreeing that they were not expecting wedding food to taste so good! \tIf you’re in-between venues, or just needing a sign from the universe to pick Viaggio as your wedding venue, this is it. My guests were so impressed that to this day they’re convinced we hosted a 100k+ wedding, and let me tell you that we definitely didn’t even spend half of that. We had guests of various ages tell us that our wedding was THE best one they had ever been to in their lives and that the venue had completely blown them away. My husband and I love this place so much, that we visited almost every month leading up to the wedding. Not for wedding planning, but just to relax, have a picnic on the lawn, and just drink some damn good wine. THANK YOU to the entire Viaggio staff for having us and making our wedding day magical! Stephanie Gabrielli(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-03-2017 My husband and I were just married here on 3.17.17 and the WHOLE experience was even better than we could've imagined. We found the viaggio while looking at other venues and stopped in without an appointment. We were immediately greeted by staff who were so excited to show us the WHOLE GROUNDS right away. After this we met with the AMAZING Stephanie and that basically just locked everything down. She was beyond nice, seemed so excited to potentially plan the happiest day of our lives, and already had answers to multiple questions. We also rented the villa on site for or wedding weekend so I was in constant contact with Stephanie and also the owners Larry and Terri and they were all so friendly and helpful!During our trips to visit Stephanie, drop off wedding items, or even just show off our gorgeous venue to other members of our wedding party the whole staff was so nice it was almost unbelievable. Each time we would show up, unanncounced, someone always jumped up to walk us around the grounds and show us new or changing things. Unfortunately we got married right after all the constant rain so the whole grass area here was flooded. My mom was in a sight onic but I wasn't even concerned because I knew between Stephanie, Terri, Larry, and the rest of the staff I was in good hands, and they DID NOT disappoint! The next time we showed up the viaggio (again unanncounced) one of the staff members was so excited to spot me and show me around other areas they were thinking for our ceremony. Needless to say everything was perfect, we used all their preferred vendors which made things even easier because they al work together regularly. Typically if you have a gorgeous venue, amazing staff, and wonderful vendors you don't expect the food to be all that great. This was NOT the case at all. Chef Bernard is fantastic! Everyone loved the food and wanted more and more! (Luckily we got his cooking two nights in a row because we also held our rehearsal dinner in the villa - which was also perfect and amazing!)My whole entire wedding experience was beyond perfect and everything and MORE than I had ever imagined! I actually have ZERO complaints or anything I can even think of that needs improvement here. From the moment we first stepped on the grounds, I knew it was \"the place\". You instantly feel special....especially since they strive to just have one wedding a weekend, unlike a good number of places in the area who give you a 5 hour window and rush you through everything and treat you like a number. The grounds are gorgeous and honestly don't need much as far as decorations go. I feel like Viaggio is still a bit of a hidden gem in Lodi and my husband and I feel so happy to have been one of the lucky couples to get married there. Viaggio offers a vendor package that made everything so seamless for us to choose our photographer, baker, florist, and DJ. Laura Steele(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-07-2012 WE got married there in July 2012. We booked there about 8-9 months before. At the time we had booked, we didn't know that the winery was for sale. Luckily we got much more than we bargained for, in the best way possible. Because it won't be applicable to future couples, this review is only about our experience with the current owners. Debbie, the day-of coordinator was fabulous and very organized! She asked all the right questions (and I thought I was detail oriented!) which helped tremendously with the day-of. Viaggio has several trusted vendors they work well with and the overall experience made it very easy for me (a bay area bride) to make arrangements without repeating myself a bunch of times. They really do take care of a lot of the details (which is included in the price) and the final product is more than beautiful. We looked at a lot of other wineries and it seemed like everything was an upgrade or you would have to go through a 3rd party vendor. At Viaggio, you'll have to pay for your upgrades, but mot things are handled in-house and so you know you'll get what you want. We received so many compliments on the decor and how beautiful it was. Everyone was very impressed and we didn't spend a lot more upgrading. By far, the show-stopper was the food. It was even better than at the tasting that we had a couple months before. Their chef does all their catering which is a HUGE relief of stressful planning. The fruit and cheese platter during cocktail hour was an artful display and completely over the top! We were so incredibly pleased with the buffet dinner. Chicken, tri-tip, salmon, ravioli, all were absolutely perfect. They also worked so well with us to accommodate special requests to help us add those personal touches that are so important for that special day. The beer and wine bar was completely adequate - friends and family got loosened up on the dance floor, but nobody was embarrassingly out of control, which tends to happen at open liquor bars. The ceremony grounds are equally breath-taking and they offer several spots to conduct the ceremony. We picked a bit of an unconventional location on the property, but they were so accommodating to make it happen. There are always things that a bride and groom would change about their wedding day and I think about the only thing I would have changed was having a little more time for the reception because it went by too fast! By the time you eat, do speeches and all the necessary things, you are completely out of time to meet with each table and dance. The only other draw back is that it can be a bit pricey. We were more than happy with the package we got (included vendors and basics) and didn't feel the need to upgrade much, but if you start adding up here and there, it can hit above average for a Bay Area average wedding. We had around 180 guests that were easily seated for ceremony (outdoor) and buffet dinner (indoor). Another thing to consider is that the grounds are mostly gravel, cobble stone or grass, so be advised that heels might not be the best choice, I had my bridesmaids in wedge heels and I promptly changed into cute flats after the ceremony. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a winery wedding! Reviewed on 11-08-2012
