We held our October wedding at VisArts and couldn’t be happier with how it went! It’s such a wonderful venue with a deep connection to the Rockville community. We held our ceremony on the roof, the cocktail hour in the Artist Concourse, and the reception in the Buchanan Room. Each location was beautiful. The event coordination staff is fantastic! We worked with Danny, who was communicative, responsive, and guided us along the process. This was a beautiful location for our daughter's wedding. The ballroom was a great size, and the two window walls with votive candles looked lovely. The rooftop was large enough for a ceremony and cocktail hour for about 125, and had a great view. Staff there was very helpful and flexible with decorations, and moving furniture around as we liked it. Finally, the location was convenient for out-of-towners who stayed at a hotel within walking distance of the event and near to a metro station for those wanting to go into DC for sightseeing. Highly recommended. Reviewed on 07-12-2023

If you’re looking for a beautiful space, a wonderful team, and the perfect location, look no further! We spent so much time searching in and around DC for the right location for our wedding, and VisArts hit the sweet spot - an artistic community space that rivaled the feel of galleries in the city, a rooftop that added an element of freshness, an approachable ballroom space with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and flexible layout, and an awesome team to help everything come together. Not to mention how central everything was for our guests with hotels, restaurants, parking, late night bars, and public transportation right at their fingertips. From the very beginning, Mary, Jackie, and their team made us feel like family, going out of their way to ensure we could plan and execute our vision for our the wedding and sticking with us through not one, but two postponements due to COVID. Through it all, they kept our vendor team coordinated and informed, reassured us when we started to get overwhelmed by the whole process, and ultimately delivered on an incredible experience for us and our guests. Dallas Bonilla(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-08-2021 Mary & Jarred, we're amazing! They went above and beyond for our special day. Working with our budget and keeping us sane. Our wedding has been postponed four times due to the unfortunate Covid-19 pandemic. They helped us set up and also provided resources and references to aid us in having an intimate / covid-safe wedding. Mary & Jarred made sure the wedding flow was seamless. We enjoyed utilizing the rooftop for the ceremony and the Buchanan room for the reception. For portraits, we used an art studio. All the rooms we occupied were gorgeous, sanitized, and clean. My husband and I strongly recommend VisArts. It is a non-profit organization that finds ways to educate, house, and circulate artistic mediums that also opens its beautiful space for events. The contributions the artist install into the rented spaces and the rooftop are simply breath-taking and elegant. Our wedding was very unorthodox, my mother passed the year prior to our original wedding date. To honor her, I wore 9-foot tall angel wings and walked down to her favorite song. Mary & Jarred made sure I would fit in the walkways and built a flowing sheet barrier that they pulled away for that extra \"wow\" factor. I felt like my mother was there walking with me and my late father on the other side. Taylor Young(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-06-2021 Before the pandemic, I worked with VisArts to have my wedding on June 14, 2020. Throughout the planning process, Mary was very responsive and flexible when discussing the details for my \"grand vision\" of their beautiful rooftop and Buchanan Room. The pandemic hit and we were unable to achieve our vision. We were forced (not by VisArts but because of circumstances with the pandemic) to cancel our wedding altogether. We worked with Jackie who was able to refund us our FULL REFUND of $5,025. The sincerity from the workers at VisArts during this pandemic is completely unmatched compared to other vendors that did not offer a refund nor credit. Due to that being the case with our wedding photographer whom we paid $3,000, we have now decided on a wedding reenactment photoshoot (we do not want our money to go down the drain since this particular photographer company did not offer a credit nor refund). We then reached BACK out to VisArts with hopes that they will accomodate us for a very small 3 hour photoshoot in our wedding attire. Not only did they have our date available (June 13, 2021) but they are still just as flexible and responsive as they were almost 2 years ago when we initially planned our wedding. Nothing has changed with them. They were also sincere in giving us a 15% discount. I look forward to the photoshoot this June. Reviewed on 26-03-2021

She was so understanding and flexible it made what could have been a nightmare so stress free. Then the day of our wedding, the staff went above and beyond to make our wedding all that we wanted it to be. We had our wedding on the roof, and even though it was over cast it was still beautiful with the cherry blossoms strung along the rafters with white drapes, and the skyline as the back drop. The ballroom where the reception is held is gorgeous and made more beautiful with the back lighting. And to make it even more amazing, the artists’ gallery is the hallway leading to the ballroom, so guests loved seeing local art while mingling. Bonus, it is a nonprofit community art center with artist galleries (which can be opened for your guests to enjoy during your event) and fun classes available (in case you’re looking for a wedding party activitiy). Definitely a unique space. The rooftop offers views of Rockville Town Square, and had plenty of space to host both our ceremony and cocktail hour (we had 70 guests). Our reception was in the Buchanon Room which boasts floor to ceiling windows and a dance floor. The VisArts team is happy to decorate the ceiling in market lights, or twinkle lights, or japanese lanters, or probably whatever you request! All the tables and chairs were included with our rental, including the lounge furniture on the roof for cocktail hour, which was super convenient. Not to mention the location! With the Cambria hotel just up the street, and all the restaurants and shops in Rockville Town Square, our guests never had to leave the area. Super convenient, and lots of fun. Deborah Avila(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-07-2019 I just got married at VisArts on 7/20/19. We picked the venue because of the location and their rooftop. We had several guests flying into Reagan National Airport and this venue is Metro Accessible, so our friends and family did not have to rent cars. There is a very nice hotel, the town center, several restaurants, and a movie theater all within walking distance of the venue which allowed for our guests to have plenty to do during their stay. The temperature on our wedding day was 100 degrees and there was a code orange air quality alert. Luckily, with VisArts you have a \"Plan B\" option to have your wedding indoors in case of bad weather or if you just prefer for things to be inside. Though we really wanted that rooftop wedding, we could not risk our guest having potential health emergencies due to the extreme heat. We made the call to move everything indoors the day before our wedding. We received several compliments from our guests on how beautiful the venue was. Mary did amazing with our up-lighting and the candles in the windows of the Buchanan room. They were also able to match the lanterns with our color scheme. Everything looked beautiful and we still had access to the rooftop to take our pictures. Mary and Jackie were easy and a pleasure to work with during the planning process. However, our experience with that venue turned out to be really unpleasant, and we came hopefully back to VisArts three months before our date wondering whether they were still available. They were, and switching our wedding there was the best decision we made! The location may be in the suburbs, but it was easy to get to via metro and convenient for our many out of town guests, and actually made spending time with them easier than it would have been in the city. There’s so much we love about VisArts it’s hard to know where to start, but it was really Mary who made our experience so wonderful! She welcomed our queer, unconventional wedding, made us feel like the space was our home, and helped us to create a celebration vision that fit us and our community – making space for book themed decor, Scottish dancing, fan videos, a children’s play area, and gender neutral bathrooms, and using the venue’s resources and her own brilliant ideas to add so much we hadn’t thought of. So many of our friends told us this was the best wedding they had been to, and having it at VisArts was one of the things that made it so great. The room itself had two full sides of glass walls looking down on the town square fountain and restaurants. The room is brand new in 2008 and has great lighting carpet and electronics.;if you want a good sized dance floor (we had 12x16 i think) then you have a few options: do a sit-down dinner (no buffet tables) for 175 guests or less do a buffet for 125 guests or less or put the food tables in the hallway.
