My wife and I recently got married at the Vizcaya. We could not have been happier with the service and the outcome! Our day-of coordinator was Rachel Ryland, who was super helpful. She was there helping us from the start, answering all our questions, giving us ideas, planning all the decor, and coordinating all our vendors. The venue itself is super gorgeous with nice photo areas, getting ready rooms for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and a courtyard area to have your ceremony. Overall, Vizcaya made our wedding day a day that we will never forget. My wife and I highly recommend having your special day here! Reviewed on 08-12-2023

They made the ENTIRE wedding planning process a breeze. Vizcaya offers everything, food, tables, linens, byob option etc. plus a coordinator, and honestly it’s so worth it going with a venue that is all-inclusive. Julia was my coordinator. Not once was I stressed through the entire planning process. And the day of the wedding they were constantly checking in on me and my husband to ensure that we were doing okay and that we always had a drink in our hand. Julia, I honestly cannot thank you enough for help planning my wedding. You were absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend you to ANYONE who needs a wedding coordinator. They provide chairs, linens, and arches-so no rentals needed. They have beautiful outdoor and indoor facilities, and more parking around it than you might expect downtown. Having details meetings to help make design choices and plan out logistics with someone who knows exactly what needs to be done was huge. We chose to have a Great Gatsby themed wedding, and Vizcaya was the perfect venue for our theme. Vizcaya is beautiful with its romantic charm, and vintage architecture. Not only is the venue beautiful, but it has everything you need all in one place. They assign you a wedding coordinator and they have a list of preferred vendors to chose from. This made wedding planning so much easier and less stressful!! Our first coordinator was Sam. We enjoyed working with her during the beginning of our wedding planning, She was very friendly and accommodating! We were then assigned to another coordinator Taylor. She helped us with every last detail, answered all of our questions promptly and eased our stress and anxiety during the wedding planning process. The day of the wedding went very smoothy thanks to the help of Taylor and the rest of the Vizcaya staff. We had to make a lot of seating changes because a lot of guests informed us last minute that they were not able to attend. Taylor made sure everything was taken care of and she definitely went above and beyond. We had so many compliments from guests about how much fun they had and about how delicious the food was. From the very first phone call, I felt like all the information was laid out to us clearly. Rachel was our coordinator, and she worked extremely hard to perfect all our wedding day details! The day we went for an in-person tour, we got to see the two beautiful gardens and indoor pavilion to give us a better idea of what space would work with which parts of the wedding day. Rachel sat down with us and went item by item from a brochure to make sure we knew what we were paying for, what the venue provides, etc., and provided us with a detailed tentative quote. On the day of the wedding, Rachel and the staff members made our wedding vision come to fruition, and everything was perfect! You could see the professionalism and care each staff members puts in making your wedding day go by smoothly. Highly recommend this venue! Our wedding was cancelled two weeks prior to our original date due to COVID, so the wedding was essentially paid for. My husband and I decided to elope the day of and postpone our big wedding date. Rachel was our coordinator and she was very flexible and easy to work with. She made our wedding day go so smoothly. Our guests raved about the wedding and the food was delicious! I highly recommend Rachel as your coordinator. She made sure everyone had food and was taken care of. Even the unexpected guests that showed up. Rachel Garza(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-03-2021 We booked our wedding in 2019 for 4/5/2020. Vizcaya was an instant favorite for us! Gorgeous property, perfect reviews, and friendly staff. Just 21 days before our original wedding date, we had to postpone due to COVID. Even then in the early, stressful days of the pandemic, our coordinator Rachel helped us deal with the disappointment and postpone to a later date in the fall without any issue. A few months later we decided to postpone again for the safety of our guests and Vizcaya happily helped us find our new date, 3/28/21. We cannot say enough about how amazing Rachel was! We met a handful of times to discuss the timeline and vision for the day. She was always helpful with ironing out ideas and developing a schedule for the day. I kept expecting to get nervous in the weeks leading up to the big day, but thanks to Rachel and the Vizcaya staff I truly never felt overwhelmed and I was able to stay excited and calm! The bride and groom getting ready rooms are a huge bonus. We were both able to spend the whole morning with our bridal party in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Rachel would pop in to say hi and check on us here and there, but mostly we were able to simply enjoy our favorite people and get ready! We had our ceremony in the east patio and it was absolutely perfect. Rachel had set up the reception and ceremony decorations exactly as I had imagined it, if not better! During photos after the ceremony, Rachel even followed us around the property with the photographers handing us sips of our signature cocktails. Helped calm the nerves and get us excited for the reception! The food at Vizcaya is delicious (especially the chicken cordon bleu and ceviche tostada appetizer). When asking some close guests about their experience that night, their only complaints revolved around the dining experience. We had ordered about 8 vegetarian meals, but they only made enough to serve 7 so one vegetarian family member was served chicken. Some guests shared that they never ended up getting any cake and were even told that they had run out, but the next day we were given a box with about ten servings left over! We did not notice any of the details in the moment as the head table's food was served quickly and accurately. This also does not seem to be a regular occurrence for Vizcaya, but at that time of our wedding that were short staffed. These are our only complaints! It truly was the best day and we are forever grateful to Vizcaya and Rachel for bearing with us through two postponements. We would absolutely recommend Vizcaya! Reviewed on 20-04-2021
Kristina Cruz(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-11-2019 My husband and I got married here in November 2019. I would consider our engagement on the \"shorter\" side, getting engaged in February with a wedding date of November of the same year. From the beginning upon inquiry, our coordinator, Ali, was so communicative and informative. She provided us a document of all available dates left in 2019 which helped us narrow down our wedding date. Once we selected the Vizcaya as our wedding venue and signed the contract, everything was smooth sailing ahead! There was no need for us to hire an actual wedding planner because Ali was so amazing and she met with us three separate times all leading up to our wedding day. She responded to us in such a timely manner via email, which was great for a bride like me who had a million questions. She also made sure we knew the remaining tasks to do leading up to the wedding day.The day of, Ali was so great. I trusted her 100% and she made sure I had nothing to worry about. Her day of timeline was so detailed and everything I could have thought of was spelled out with an assigned time on the timeline. We literally had nothing to think about on our wedding day, and I loved that. The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL. We fell in love with the ivy wall in the ceremony space, the patio where we had our cocktail reception, and the stained glass in the main reception hall. My husband and I received such great feedback from our guests regarding the food. We did a plated dinner and it was the best decision ever. So many of our guests kept asking if the Vizcaya had a restaurant because they wanted to go back and eat the food again. The biggest advantage is the alcohol package. The venue has a BYOB policy and they supply the bartenders. It was great if you're trying to stray away from all of those pricey drink packages a lot of other venues have. With the Vizcaya, all we had to do was purchase alcohol at Costco which saved us so much money. The bridal lounge was perfect. Since we had a Friday evening wedding, we were the only wedding scheduled that day. The venue accommodates morning and evening weddings on Saturdays and Sundays. But the advantage of having a Friday wedding, is that you're the only wedding onsite. My girls and I had an early call time with hair and makeup, and Ali was able to accommodate us.When it came to our cocktail hour and reception, everything ran so smoothly and Ali was right there guiding us on what was next, from first dance to cake cutting to bouquet toss, the list goes on and on. :)Overall, our experience with Ali and the Vizcaya was so positive and we already miss working with Ali! We had a few minor day-of snafus with ceremony seating, but everything worked out well. We are also picky on our whiskey, but we are not as picky with other alcohol. We were happy to find a place that was bring your own alcohol. We looked at the pictures and thought it was very pretty, so we scheduled a tour. We were beyond impressed when we saw the grounds, and knew this was the venue we wanted. We picked a date, and we cannot say a single bad thing about Vizcaya. Vizcaya has certain policies regarding other vendors a couple can work with which we initially were not sure about, but we are SO glad now. We do not live in the area, so we didn’t really have a way to meet with vendors in person or ask around for recommendations. We also had no idea what to look for with other vendors. Vizcaya’s policies and recommended vendors list helped us put together a beautiful wedding. Rachel was extremely helpful during the planning process and the day of. Sarah Harvey(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-08-2018 I got married in August 2018 and couldn't be happier that I chose Vizcaya as my wedding venue. Not only is this venue picture-perfectly beautiful, but it has everything you need in one spot. The ceremony, reception, on-site chef, bar staff, linens, chairs, and you can stay the night there! We also loved that we could bring in our own alcohol, which saved us a ton of money! It was basically a one-stop shop, compared to a ton of other venues out there that make you find a caterer, bartender, or make you bring in your own tables, chairs, and linens. From the very beginning when we were scouting venues, we were blown away by our coordinator, Lauren Bergenholtz, and the staff. Not only were they extremely professional, but they were also very kind. Lauren was very attentive throughout the entire planning process, and I couldn't imagine my wedding day without her. She runs a tight ship, and if anything went wrong behind the scenes of our wedding, we had no idea because of her flawless execution. After our wedding, we were told by many of our guests that it was the best wedding they had ever attended! The food was particularly excellent. We got a ton of compliments on our menu. We chose the tomato & mozzarella crostini and coconut shrimp as our hors-d'oeuvres, and for the buffet, we got the Caesar and mesclun salads, deviled chicken, tri-tip, and baked gnocchi. Everything was absolutely delicious, and some of our guests still rave about the gnocchi! (I need to get their exact recipe!!) We also got a late night snack of mini pizzas that were delicious. Amanda Key(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2018 I decided to sit on this review until I collected myself and I was hesitant as I did not want my vendors to lose out on opportunities. I feel I should say objectively that not all personalities get along and overall my day was pleasant. Setting aside all niceties, I will give a nitty gritty review as all feedback is good feedback. I did not prefer Lauren and as time passed, animosity grew. I often times found her condescending, inconsiderate and inconsistent. Many people speak highly of her and as I mentioned not all personalities connect. I could give examples but to avoid a messy condescending rebuttal, I will just move on. I was later switched to Rachel, she was sweet but newer. The day of lacked coordination with a backbone. People weren't being navigated to the cocktail hour thus many interruptions occurred and much time was lost for family portraits. Plated meals were provided with color coded wax place cards to signal meal selections. Unfortunately, servers could not remember color coding and began to prompt guest on meal selection. Many guest changed meal selection simply because they forgot what they ordered two months prior. The chicken was to have a Dijon white wine sauce and the sea bass to be brushed with brown sugar sauce but both items were crusted. Unfortunately, some sea bass came out with the Dijon white wine sauce and posed as the chicken. Several guest including myself got the sea bass instead of the chicken. I informed the server that he erroneously given me the wrong meal and he fought with me. I am thankful none of my guest had a fish allergy. Since I was given the wrong meal, I noticed rice pilaf was missing from all fish plates. By the time my meal was corrected, I did not get to eat because it was time for sunset photos. Toast were given without champagne passed to all tables. Bartender was unpleasant and unorganized. With this being said a lot of people were in charge on this day but no one person knew what the other was doing in my opinion. Poor communication lead to the cluster of events to follow. I have realized wholeheartedly that you can never make a three star venue a five star venue. Not even if you have a wedding planner trouble shooting, not even with the beautiful decor and especially not with such a troubled foundation. Bringing this information to light privately, I was given a half hearted apology and then immediately unfriended off of Vizcaya's instagram...what millennial conflict resolution skills this business has. We ended up with Lexi and she was on top of everything and helped the day to go so smoothly. We also were \"blessed\" with rain on our wedding day. We didn't have a plan 100% in place but then Briana at Vizcaya gave us a recommendation for a company and it worked out perfectly. She and her team executed my wedding day vision perfectly. She went above and beyond my expectations in every aspect! My guests loved Vizcaya also. The venue is beyond beautiful, the food was amazing (we splurged on the Diamond menu and had the Filet Mignon, Salmon with sun dried tomato butter, Deviled Chicken, and Vegetable Lasagna), the bartender poured amazing drinks, and for your hor d'ouerves do yourself a favor and select the risotto cake with bacon - YUM!!!!Vizcaya made our wedding a dream come true! My husband and I were married here just a couple weeks ago, and we were so happy with the service that not only we, but all of guests, received. We started out meeting with Stacey, who was super helpful in giving us the information about the venue and what our package included (basically everything except alcohol and cake). Then we were assigned to Caitlin as our coordinator. She was awesome to work with, and anytime I had a question she was quick to respond to my emails. The venue itself is beautiful, inside and out. We didn't even need any extra decorations outside of centerpieces and flowers. The day of our wedding she was always nearby, and kept things running smoothly. We had a brunch reception and the food they provided was delicious, we got a lot of positive comments. During the reception we had people come up to us saying how impressed they were with the 1st class service and that all of the waitstaff were very polite. She was always quick to respond to my emails and phone calls, which made planning from far away so much less daunting. She was so easy to work with and so easygoing! We had a few mishaps on our wedding day (my mother in law took a little spill before the ceremony and my mom got mustard all over her dress before photos) but Stacey took care if it all without even batting an eye. As someone who typically needs to have her hand in everything, I had no problem letting Stacey take over so that we could relax, have fun, and enjoy our big day. The chef makes very delicious food, the staff is courteous and helpful. Aubrey was my coordinator and she was helpful and friendly the whole time. They are working on renovating the pavillion and mansion so I was able to get a discounted rate which was great because I had a smaller wedding. The mansion (hotel) still needs a lot of work to the rooms, they are a bit run down, but the pavilion looks great! Elisabeth was great during our planning sessions prior to the big day, Becky was on point the whole afternoon as our day of coordinator and Javier took great care of us at the reception. \rThe bridal suite was spacious and well situated with great lighting and plenty of mirrors and felt entirely private for our bridal party. The courtyard looked beautiful with white chairs and all the gardens in bloom. My only advice to future brides would be to face the ivy wall as opposed to the gazebo as the sun is really brutal in that position. \rOur reception room was set up exactly to our specifications and looked absolutely beautiful. The food was delicious, all of our guests said it was the best wedding food they'd every had! The bartenders were happy to adjust their pours to each guests requests as well. Tasha Lopez(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-06-2011 We’d recommend the venue as a wedding ceremony & reception location. Our salesperson left ~6 weeks before our wedding and a new gal became our contact. I was nervous, but she honored each request and was responsive, so we had no issues. The venue is beautiful in pictures (slightly less so in person) and has nice character. The facility fee isn’t cheap, but you get a beautiful bridal dressing area for use before the wedding. The food is good and there are a lot of options. They don’t provide alcohol, but with effort you can end up saving money since there’s no cork fee. They have high chairs (helpful for moms with infants). They provide a wedding coordinator, and Becky is great at what she does. She’s focused and can even cover other vendors’ mistakes. Servers were nice and friendly. \r\rNot as nice: Chairs are old and in need of repair/replacement. Parking can be an issue, even on weekends. It’s somewhat a challenge that you work with one person leading up to the wedding, and you don’t meet Becky until the rehearsal. \r\rOur specific challenges: \r* The new person wasn’t yet experienced in the process if it rains, and I wasn’t sure exactly what I should be asking. I asked questions about the contingency plan. I finally peppered her with enough questions that she passed me along to someone else, at which point I learned that we needed to make considerable changes to our defined schedule (which they already confirmed in writing) ~24 hours before I needed to leave for the wedding. Extremely stressful. \r* We added one chair to one table 2 days before the wedding. I attached a new seating chart and received written confirmation that it was received and would be added. Halfway through the meal, I realized that something was wrong: two guests who only knew each other and the groom were sitting at different tables. At that moment, I realized that the extra chair had NOT been added, so one of the guests was forced to find an open chair at another table. It was unfortunate and made the groom and me look inconsiderate, sitting people at tables where they knew no one. \r* The groom and I never got to eat our cake :( After paying all that money for a cake, and selecting very specific flavors, we wanted to enjoy it. We told them which layers we wanted to have served for the two of us. I don’t know exactly what happened, but at some point the servers must have cleaned up our table (without boxing up our pieces) so we never tasted our cake. \r* One of our wedding guests was terminally ill. By sheer will, she lived long enough to attend our wedding and then passed away days later. She was too weak to attend the reception, so her son came to let us know they were leaving. We’d paid for their meals and we wanted her to feel like she was still part of the celebration. We asked to have 2 meals boxed up so they could take them, and the wedding coordinator told my husband that it wasn’t possible due to some policy to prevent litigation. I understand rules, but given the extenuating circumstances, I expected Vizcaya to be more accommodating (my husband told them she literally got off her deathbed to join us that day).\r* Signage was confusing. I think it was just because of the rain, but numerous guests were confused. The sign posted out front made it look like our wedding started an hour later than the invitation suggested (the sign directing guests to the pavilion for the reception should have been changed when they moved the ceremony indoors to same locati Reviewed on 21-06-2011
Lisa Chen(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2011 This is a wonderful venue. We booked our wedding over a year in advanced. Working with one person from Vizcaya, we figured out our menu options and decor easily. It was a great process. The garden area for the ceremony was perfect. We got married in late April and it was stunning. The reception room was beautiful as well. We had 100 guests so it was a perfect fit. \rMy only complaint has to do with the coordinator that was assigned to us for the rehearsal and day of event. We had not met her prior to the rehearsal. She was very rude and aggressive. The day of the wedding she was coming up to me complaining about things I had provided information about prior to the wedding. It felt as though she was trying to get me upset! I did not let her tone and ridiculous demeanor ruin the day. The wedding was wonderful. But I did let Vizcaya know about my disappointment with her a few days after the event. \r\rI would definitely recommend Vizcaya for a wedding venue... I would ask who the coordinator would be first and be introduced. Then you can possibly request someone else. Reviewed on 11-05-2011

She made no effort to get to know us and then messed up several displays and concepts that the bridal party then had to fix day-of. I think this could be prevented in the future. megan cortopassi(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-09-2010 Vizcaya is a beautiful venue and they are very experienced at doing wedding, but maybe too experienced. On the weekends they do two weddings a day so we had ours on a friday night so we had the place to ourselves which was very nice. They were accomodating and let me have the bridal suite ALL day - which was wonderful because we did our pictures before the ceremony. The food was good and the chef prepared our personal menu with several specialty plates for guests with health requirements. The biggest benefit was that they allow you to provide your own booze without a corkage fee - very rare in the venue scene! My only complaint would be the day-of wedding coordinator. She was extremely rude, treating us as if we were a nuisance (which is a huge insult considering our one day probably paid half a years salary for her!) She actually stuck the whole bridal party in a room alone after the ceremony because \"dinner was not ready\" we could have been visiting with our guests! I realize now I should have insisted upon doing our entrance anyway, but on wedding day everything is a bit of a whirlwind so it is my one regret...
