Historic Mansion for Unforgettable Celebrations
Located in Middletown, CT, Wadsworth Mansion is a historic wedding venue brimming with elegance. The team here is devoted to helping a couple achieve their vision with a sense of sophistication. Between the exquisite grounds and refined interiors, the mansion and property provide a memorable setting for wedding festivities. Colonel Clarence S. Wadsworth was the original owner of Wadsworth Mansion. Construction began in 1900, three years after he married Katherine Fearing Hubbard. This country residence was constructed with the guidance of the Olmsted Brothers, a landscaping architectural firm. Concern for the environment was paramount, and the 500 acres were carefully manicured with this in mind. Starting from the mansion, the estate features a formal and traditional style that flows into forests and pastures. Known as Long Hill, this estate was a gathering point for the Hubbard and Wadsworth families for decades. In 1941, after the Colonel’s death, the estate was transformed into a park and the Rockfall Corporation to promote conservation. Afterward, it became the home of the Religious of Our Lady of the Cenacle, when the building was expanded and some of the acres were sold. Eventually purchased by a developer, the site fell into disrepair until being fully refurbished into its current state. Wadsworth Mansion easily complements a variety of wedding themes, from classic galas to boho-chic celebrations. This stately home offers plenty of choices for outdoor ceremonies on the terrace or the tended grounds. Cocktail hours and receptions can also be held al fresco. Inside, the ballrooms, illuminated by chandeliers and with working fireplaces, create a welcoming retreat for the merriment. Only one event is held per day and there is enough room to accommodate up to 200 people. Dressing rooms, a catering kitchen, and onsite parking are among some of the convenient amenities available. Couples can choose their own caterer from the preferred vendor list, making it simple to customize their day’s dining experience.

The Wadsworth is a dream venue. The grounds and mansion are stunning and impeccably kept. You do NOT need a lot of decorations as it’s already so gorgeous. The ballrooms are beautiful, the terrace is a perfect place for dancing, the lawn with the hydrangea bushes are made for ceremonies, and the newly expanded bridal suite with the balcony for pictures and the bouquet toss just seal the deal. We worked with Rachel for coordinating the event and she was at our beck and call and was just so extraordinary. Could not have asked for a better person to work with. We had 127 guests and everyone fit so perfectly and comfortably. We want to relive our wedding night over and over because it really was all so amazing. Would 1000% recommend! I love being a Wadsworth bride.

From the very first visit, we knew this venue was perfect for us. If you have any hesitation on the split dining rooms, we had 170 guests at our November 2023 wedding, and absolutely loved how intimate the rooms were, and it made dinner feel all the more special and intentional. We cannot recommend this venue enough!

Words cannot explain how amazing everything about the Wadsworth mansion is. From the drive way pulling up to the huge pillars and walking into the gorgeous foyer, to the wall of French doors leading to the patio and pine trees bordering the well kept lawn and so much more! Picturesque is an understatement. Because of the beautiful accents of the mansion, the details that you provide just make it even better! And the staff, Rachel and everyone who made it the most perfect day, thank you so so much! It truly was the best day of my life!

The most magical, beautiful venue with easy going, kind staff. This was an easy yes for us and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Rachel went out of her way to make the day perfect for us, and even helped on her day off with clean up. She is so lovely!

We had our wedding at Wadsworth Mansion and it was absolutely wonderful! None of it would have been possible without Alex and the rest of the Wadsworth team! They all were such a joy to work with over the past year - always willing to answer my numerous emails, hop on the phone, and even meet multiple times in person to align on all of the details. Alex did a phenomenal job the day of the wedding as well, constantly checking in with us and ensuring the day went smoothly. So happy that we had our wedding at this venue!

When my husband and I first got engaged, he immediately suggested that we get married at Wadsworth Mansion. I had actually never been there and booked their last available summer weekend date sight unseen based on the glowing reviews I heard. Fast-forward to our first tour of the Mansion and it was so much more beautiful than I had imagined! Seriously, this place is magical. Coming up the long drive through the trees feels like entering another world. The building is gorgeous inside and out, every person we worked with was extremely helpful and nice, and the setup was perfect for an outdoor ceremony followed by indoor/outdoor reception for just under 100 people. My brother-in-law, who has been to about a million weddings, told us unprompted that this was his favorite wedding venue he’s ever been to.

The Wadsworth Mansion is the most magical place to get married! It truly is a hidden gem. I could not imagine myself getting married anywhere else. My husband and I were amazed by the venue when we initially toured, but experiencing our wedding there was even more breathtaking than we ever could have imagined. The staff was amazing to work with from start to finish. All of the vendors are very familiar with working with one another at the Wadsworth, which made planning less stressful for us. Everything is run seamlessly in the mansion. We are absolutely in love with the Wadsworth.

The wedding of our dreams was held at the Mansion in April of this year and it could not have been more perfect! As a more mature couple without a true vision of what we wanted, Megan was invaluable in helping us design the ideal evening. Without her, who know what we would have come up with! Every idea she had the caterer and florist were able to execute flawlessly. She was with us every step of the way all the way to when I walked down the aisle. And Alex, our event supervisor for the evening, took such incredible care of us...she even kept my phone for the entire night and made sure to take tons of photos for us! The Mansion is just such a gorgeous venue and all of our guests were blown away. Get married at The Wadsworth Mansion - you'll be happy you did!

This venue was everything my husband and I could have imagined and more. We got married earlier this year on March 18, 2023 and we could not have picked a better venue or team to help us have the most perfect day. The mansion is gorgeous and was the most perfect backdrop for our wedding inside and out. We booked this venue back in 2021 after my husband fell in love with it on our tour. Jessica Hess (director of events) made the planning process easy from day 1. She was always there to answer our many questions and meet our concerns head on, even going as far as to pull out a measure tape during one of our many tours to help us plan a display piece for our special day. Rachel Eisele (event manager) was invaluable as we got closer to our date, helping us nail down and place each detail we wanted. On the day of Rachel’s presence helped us focus on the fun instead of the planning. We chose The Wadsworth Mansion for its indoor ceremony space as March weather is so unpredictable. It made our 110+ guest count seem small and intimate and the transition to the reception was flawless. If we could do it all again (minus the stress) I would, just because of how wonderful our day was.

The Wadsworth Mansion was the perfect venue for our wedding!! When I got engaged, I knew immediately that I wanted to get married at the mansion and it didn’t disappoint. The venue is stunning, classic, and elegant, and the grounds are beautiful and it was the most amazing location for our special day! The mansion staff, specifically Jess and Catie, were so wonderful to work with from start to finish. They were professional, explained everything thoroughly, worked incredibly well with our wedding planner, and helped navigate the postponement of our wedding due to Covid. We had an extra large guest count and a large bridal party and they were incredibly helpful in accommodating our guests and helping to make our dreams a reality. The Wadsworth Mansion was the perfect venue for our wedding!! When I got engaged, I knew immediately that I wanted to get married at the mansion and it didn’t disappoint. The venue is stunning, classic, and elegant, and the grounds are beautiful and it was the most amazing location for our special day! The mansion staff, specifically Jess and Catie, were so wonderful to work with from start to finish. They were professional, explained everything thoroughly, worked incredibly well with our wedding planner, and helped navigate the postponement of our wedding due to Covid. Exceptional staff and venue. We were thrilled with our event!! I will say that the city (who owns the venue) needs to invest in an upgraded air conditioning unit as we were sweating buckets upstairs. I also think they need to power wash or paint the patio area. These are things outside of the staff and wedding service, so I'd just hope these comments are passed on to the city to be addressed since they own the property.

My husband and I got married at Wadsworth Mansion last month, and it was absolutely perfect. Catie was so helpful from start to finish. The venue was beautiful and the grounds we perfect. We really tried to make the most of the space and spread of various parts of the day. My fiancé and I had booked our wedding for May 2023 at the mansion with the envision of having our wedding on the back patio. When we booked in November 2021 we were told we could make that work with a guest count of 200 estimating we would get a guest count of 175-180. We made it clear that we wanted dining and our dance floor on the back patio. Jessica advised us they have had weddings of this size before and recommended tent companies that could accommodate this vision. One of the tent companies no longer services the Wadsworth due to restrictions of the mansion and the other that was recommended told us they would never quote a tent on the patio for more than 130 guests. We feel that we were mislead and with having a wedding in May it is necessary a tent be present as we can not control the weather. We decided to cancel our wedding which, was a hard decision to make, but after speaking with vendors Jessica had referred us to they made it clear we would not be able to carry out our vision. We provided them with ample amount of time and kindly asked for our deposit back being aware that we received documentation that under no circumstance shall the the reservation deposit be refunded, however, we feel that this circumstance was at no fault of ours as no tent was available to host our vision. Megan instructed us to write a letter to Joe, chair of the board, who stated the board of the mansion denied our request. I do not recommend hosting your wedding at this venue. The communication was extremely poor and very unprofessional.

Having our wedding reception at the Wadsworth was one of the best decisions we made for our day. Everything was absolutely perfect! The staff was always communicative and helpful, and they were clearly experienced in running a smooth, organized event. My husband and I always felt like our needs were being met during the planning process and on the day. To top it off, the Mansion itself is stunning (and air conditioned!), and we had tons of compliments from our guests. We cannot thank them enough for everything!

100% the best venue, hands down. My husband and I fell in love with the venue the first time we visited and immediately booked the Wadsworth Mansion back in 2018 for a spring 2020 wedding. Long story short, we had to postpone 2 years until June 2022 and they made it so easy to do so! We had a small 65-person wedding and it was the perfect amount of people to use one of the ballrooms for the dinner reception. We used the other ballroom for our Chinese tea ceremony, had our wedding ceremony on the back lawn, and danced outside on the patio. Weddings at the Wadsworth are so customizable and every corner of this place is beautiful. In addition, the staff there is so helpful during the planning process; super responsive and helpful in giving tips and asking questions. The cherry on top is that they're dog friendly so we got to bring our pup with us to celebrate our day too!

Our guests were in awe of how beautiful the venue was. With such a gorgeous setting, you don't need to \"dress it up\" as much so that was awesome! I cannot recommend this breathtaking venue enough. Jessica was so patient and went above and beyond—truly amazing (both at the wedding and leading up to it). We had to reschedule due to Covid, and I was so hesitant about picking a new date (I am very Covid-cautious). I was the last of their 2020 brides to reschedule, and they were so accommodating and understanding. They answered all of my (numerous) questions, were helpful, accessible, sooo nice, and fun to work with. We went forward with a small wedding, and I am so happy we chose the Wadsworth Mansion. Special shout out to Caty who was an ANGEL the day of the wedding who calmed us down after a little unexpected rainfall and making sure every thing went perfectly. The Wadsworth Mansion created the dreamiest wedding we could have asked for . Our guest loved the luxurious feeling of dinning in a grandiose venue. It was decorated beautify for Christmas. The best of all was Rachel who was our coordinator for the day and year leading up to the big night. She was absolutely perfect -Kind, courteous, calm and collected. She did everything with in her power to make the wedding completely customized to our wishes. She also made great reccomedations for our other vendors. SO thankful for her!

The mansion was a fantastic place for our wedding. The grounds are gorgeous and vast.We wanted our wedding to be as covid-safe as possible, and so 90% of everything was done outside, with a tent in case of poor weather. The staff helped this happen in many ways, bringing a lot of furniture outside.One more thing that made this venue stand out in the picking and planning process was how very prompt their communications were.We went with one of their preferred caterers (Bourassa) who were also exceptional.

My husband and I fell in the love with the Wadsworth Mansion the second we took a tour! It was our only venue we saw. We knew we wanted it to be our venue in an instant. I cannot say enough good things about the Mansion, the people, the workers, it's just top to bottom the best all around venue we could ask for. Catie, Megan and Jess helped bring our wedding to life and we are forever grateful. They went above and beyond to make sure we were prepared for every single aspect, no question went unanswered. Our guests raved about the mansion especially the drive up to it. Elegant meets party vibes. The only drawback is the two ballrooms, couldn't fit everyone in one room for dinner but that's only 30-45 minutes anyways! Our photos came out perfect... I could go on and on about how great of a fit the mansion was for me and my husband.

Selecting The Wadsworth as our wedding venue was the best decision we could have made, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. First, it served as the most stunning backdrop for our ceremony and photos. Second, the Wadsworth team that assisted us was so organized and willing to help that our stress was really kept to a minimum throughout our engagement, even with the uncertainties of Covid. We chose many vendors from their preferred vendor list and did not regret a single one. Our guests were so impressed, from the outdoor ceremony, to the tent and crackling fire in the ballroom. We thought our day was perfect and beautiful and recommend the Wadsworth without reservation.

There are many beautiful places on the grounds for pictures between the gardens and the mansion itself. The staff was amazing, they made sure that everything ran smoothly and all the tables, etc. were set up exactly as I requested. Our guests loved the photo booth- it was an easy add-on provided by Wadsworth so we did not need to bring in an additional vendor. Their event manager, Catie, was very responsive to my many emails leading up to the big day, very helpful and quick to reply. When my husband and I went for our site tour I was in awe as soon as we walked into the building, I knew we didn’t need to look any further. We were so excited when we booked the mansion. Jess and Megan were so helpful with keeping us updated on Covid guidelines and worked with our wedding planner to make our night unforgettable! We decided to keep our wedding fully outside under the tent and it was absolutely stunning. The grounds, building and everything about the mansion is truly beautiful!! If your looking for a mansion wedding, you don’t need to look any further, book Wadsworth!! My husband and I and our families had an amazing night!!

The Wadsworth Mansion has always been my dream wedding venue. When my husband and I went for our site tour I was in awe as soon as we walked into the building, I knew we didn’t need to look any further. We were so excited when we booked the mansion. Jess and Megan were so helpful with keeping us updated on Covid guidelines and worked with our wedding planner to make our night unforgettable! We decided to keep our wedding fully outside under the tent and it was absolutely stunning. The grounds, building and everything about the mansion is truly beautiful!! If your looking for a mansion wedding, you don’t need to look any further, book Wadsworth!! My husband and I and our families had an amazing night!!

I found the Wadsworth Mansion in a magazine under venues in New England. We were going to be driving through CT so we figured why not? Being from New York- Born, raised and living in Brooklyn, we didn't know about this place or really anything about CT.I left the initial site visit knowing \"This is it\". Jess was amazing and we decided this was the place for us.Pre-Pandemic- The Wadsworth, made up of Jess and a team, were always helpful and accomodating. Jess answered all 10000 of my questions and were super knowledgable and supportive throughout the process. She came through will all great recommendations and was truly happy to see our dream coming to fruition.Pandemic- During the stressful time of figuring out \"postpone or to not postpone\" the Wadsworth was nothing but understanding and compassionate. I mean, yes, you'd expect people to be understanding during a global pandemic, but they were supporting-- it never felt like business- but felt like family. The team at the Wadsworth were on top of all policies and regulations during the year and made sure to keep everyone posted. They were super accommodating when we decided to pivot our original plan to a strictly outdoor, covid-safe plan. It is one thing to speak and give out ideas, it is another to feel truly heard-- Wadsworth did that. In the end, Jess & the team helped make our wedding dreams come true. Because of all the (unexpected) time we had together, we grew to know the Wadsworth and not only respect and appreciate the wonderful staff, but see them as friends.

During the craziest of times to get married the Wadsworth made sure it was the best day regardless of the circumstances and it truly was! They were there every step of the way, extremely responsive, and creative in how to make our special day perfect. Catie was very helpful being our day of coordinator and Jess was great at getting the ball rolling on booking the event and working out the details. Aside from that, the venue is beautiful and DOG FRIENDLY. I was able to bring my dog for the ceremony and have her with us while we were waiting in the bridal suit. I would definitely recommend this venue to those looking for a wedding venue. The grounds are gorgeous as well as the building itself. We were lucky to only have to change one thing to have a Covid wedding - moving dinner outside. They provided a beautiful tent to make sure our guests were covered from the elements and it coordinated in with the mansion so it blended in. You will have a beautiful wedding if you choose to get married at Wadsworth Mansion!

We couldn't speak highly enough of our venue, and the incredible staff that work at the Wadsworth. We knew the moment we walked in that this was the place for us to get married. They made our planning seamless and stress-free and when the pandemic hit, worked with us every step of the way to constantly reassess, eventually reschedule, and execute on our DREAM wedding in the midst of a pandemic. Not only are the grounds something out of a movie (so many wonderful places for pictures), but the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that you don't have to worry about anything leading up to or during the wedding. They even went to CVS mid-reception to get me eyelash glue to fix my makeup! We could go on and on, and couldn't imagine (and don't think we would have been able to have our 2020 wedding) if we had chosen anywhere else. Megan, Jess, Catie and team are truly miracle workers and ensured that we were constantly communicated with. They paid attention to every detail that was important to us (and thought about the things we didn't even know to plan for or consider -- chocolate for the ring bearers to help them get to the end of the aisle, you name it, they did it). We truly felt they were invested in making our day exceed all of our expectations, and it did just that -- not to mention safely and responsibly according to all guidelines. The grounds are impeccable, and offer so many ways to make your wedding unique with how many beautiful locations make up the property. We could not recommend the Wadsworth Mansion more, they are truly the best and feel like our friends at this point and made our wedding a dream come true.

Early October at the Wadsworth is absolutely gorgeous. The flowers are out and in full bloom, the sun is shining, the grounds are perfectly groomed, and there's the wide, sweeping lawn and the grove of trees that perfectly frame your outdoor wedding experience. All of this makes sense when you realize that the grounds were in large part designed by the Olmsted family, the same family that designed Central Park. Oh, and the forest around it was planted as a conservation effort, which gives you the warm fuzzies the more you think about it.All that said, though, the best part of the experience was the staff. They worked hand-and-hand with our wedding planners to make the day perfect. They were kind and thoughtful and very charming. I could not recommend this venue more.

Highly highly recommend for the staffs, if you have not wowed by the beauty of the mansion.

People always had remarks for my fiance and I when I told them we were having our reception at a venue where we would have to hire out vendors. I want to bury that myth and fear that so many people have of not having all the vendors in one package deal through a banquet facility: The staff at the mansion knocked it out of the ball park with communicating with other vendors, making sure everyone was on the same page, and making the night run so smoothly you would've thought that all these vendors worked together for years. I can't rave about the mansion enough. Picture opportunities were endless, staff was amazing, ambiance was beyond extraordinary. DON'T MISS OUT.

The Wadsworth Mansion is nothing short of a dream wedding venue. From the moment my (now) husband and I set foot on the property, we knew there was no other place we would rather get married. From the stunning architecture, to the beautifully maintained grounds and the peaceful, quiet nature of the surroundings, there is not one thing missing from this location. And perhaps most importantly, Deborah, Jessica, and the rest of the Wadsworth Mansion team were incredible to work with for our wedding. They went above and beyond to make sure that our day was everything that we had imagined. The venue itself was the perfect size for our approximately 170 guest wedding and was equally accommodating to all of our vendors. We loved being able to make our wedding personal and our own by bringing in all of our own vendors, and the Wadsworth team was helpful in providing us with lists of vendors that they enjoy and have successfully worked with in the past. Deb and Jess were communicative from the very beginning, and always took the time to thoroughly answer our questions and requests. Our guests still talk to us about how breathtaking the venue was, and how the layout of the mansion and the grounds encouraged a beautiful, well-organized wedding. Lastly, my husband and I love that, now that we are married, we can return to the mansion for events such as the summer concert series and local artisan fairs and relive our wedding day while making new memories together. We absolutely recommend the Wadsworth Mansion as an elegant wedding venue that still feels intimate and comfortable for all in attendance - we will be forever grateful to have had our wedding and celebration at this timeless venue!

The Wadsworth Mansion is nothing short of a dream wedding venue. From the moment my (now) husband and I set foot on the property, we knew there was no other place we would rather get married. From the stunning architecture, to the beautifully maintained grounds and the peaceful, quiet nature of the surroundings, there is not one thing missing from this location. And perhaps most importantly, Deborah, Jessica, and the rest of the Wadsworth Mansion team were incredible to work with for our wedding. They went above and beyond to make sure that our day was everything that we had imagined. The venue itself was the perfect size for our approximately 170 guest wedding and was equally accommodating to all of our vendors. We loved being able to make our wedding personal and our own by bringing in all of our own vendors, and the Wadsworth team was helpful in providing us with lists of vendors that they enjoy and have successfully worked with in the past. I absolutely loved having my wedding at Wadsworth Mansion! Not only is it absolutely beautiful, but you are the only wedding for the day and you have the whole site for your wedding! I just loved that fact that we were in the middle of the woods at a beautiful mansion and we were the only people there! You also get a day of wedding coordinator! I worked mainly with Jessica for the planning and Ari for my wedding day, and both of them were absolutely amazing! I am a control freak but the two of them understood my vision for my wedding and executed it perfectly! They definitely helped with my stress levels when the day finally arrived!!

Absolutely beautiful venue! The outside grounds are gorgeous and the mansion offers a pretty blank slate that you can transform into your perfect wedding. We had a wonderful time working with Jessica and Natalie. The day of our wedding we were very worried about the weather (big chance of rain), but mother nature held off for us and were able to be outside for our ceremony/cocktail hour. The staff was very accommodating with my wish to have as much of the wedding outside as possible. I was kept in the dark with the final decision, so that I couldn't dwell on the possibility of not having what I envisioned, but luckily it all worked out and I was very happy to be walking outside as I came down the aisle. For dinner we had stations, which I highly recommend at this venue, since the dining rooms are separated. Stations created a nice flow and forced guests to mingle, which was important to us. We also had a band, which was great and although it was a little tight inside, it didn't feel that way when everyone was dancing. It was a very lavish and magical day.

The mansion is beautiful with its picturesque landscape and flowers. The price, although more on the expensive side, fit our budget. It was all worth it. She helped us to create our perfect day with an expertise so great that it felt almost simple! Jess (as a Wadsworth bridge herself!!) knows the mansion like the back of her hand and she can make nearly ANY of your wedding desires come true. At our rehearsal, Jess passed the torch to Natalie who proved herself to be our newest wedding guru! Natalie corralled our huge wedding party and (at times) reluctant flower girl to make it down the aisle on time, with grace and ease. Natalie was the silent hero of the night, standing quietly in the shadows making sure everything was going off without a hitch and helping the caterer to organize the huge number of servers, bartenders, and utility staff. Not only is Wadsworth the perfect spot to host the wedding of your dreams, but it has a staff that makes it their one and only mission to make that dream wedding come true.

I cannot say enough good things about Wadsworth Mansion! My husband and I were married here in early June 2016, and the venue was absolutely stunning. We loved that we were able to have the majority of our wedding outside -- the ceremony, cocktail hour, toasts and dancing -- because the grounds are just as gorgeous as the mansion. We also liked the flexibility of the mansion... you're not locked into a specific caterer, so you can really save money if you pick the right one. When you consider that you'd spend a few thousand dollars to rent a plastic tent, spending a few thousand to rent Wadsworth for the day is money WELL spent.

I had my reception here and it was great the interior and exterior are stunning BUT I'm a little upset about the extra charges. When we signed the contract we were told it was going to be $4500 for a friday wedding at the end it cost a little under $6000 and they kept my security deposit fee but we did not damage anything \r:( if you book with them make sure you ask about every fee and ask about hidden charges.

The moment I stepped foot on the estate I knew I wanted to get married at the Wadsworth Mansion. It fit with my desire for a \"casually elegant\" wedding. The cost of the venue included only the location, and left room for my husband and I to plan every detail. From the food, to name cards, table numbers, music, lighting, flowers, linens, chairs, cake, lawn games...you name it, we picked it with lots of thought. If you want a wedding where everything is done for you (obviously the less stressful choice), this is probably not the venue for you. Anne was there, then Jessica, to hep coordinate our day and help make sure things went smoothly. We also hired a coordinator with our catering company because we were not sure how involved the Wadsworth staff would be. Of course there were little things here and there that were forgotten (our bocce set not put out, glow sticks not handed out) but these little things are to be expected to a certain extent. We held our ceremony at the tennis pavilion behind the mansion and it provided such an intimate setting in contrast to the vast lawn which would be the other option. I highly recommend using the tennis pavilion for the ceremony. Our florist took my vision and ran with it! And cocktail hour was ready on the patio immediately following the ceremony. I couldn't have asked for a better venue to hold my wedding. The one thing I am sad about is that we had to end at 11pm on the dot, due to the noise ordinance in Middletown. I cannot say enough wonderful things about both the venue and the wonderful ladies who make countless fairytale weddings happen there. From the moment we visited the website, we knew there was something incredibly special about Wadsworth Mansion. The tour only affirmed this. We were planning a June wedding and it was important to us that our venue had the option of air conditioning, as well as equally beautiful indoor and outdoor options (New England weather can be unpredictable to say the least) and that only one wedding per day was hosted at the venue. While there are many beautiful venues in CT, many of the others we toured did not have these options. Fortunately, the weather cooperated and were able to have an outdoor ceremony in the tennis pavilion/rose garden, followed by cocktail hour on the patio, dinner in the ballroom and dancing under the stars on the patio. It was such a unique and beautiful experience for all of our guests. Anne was truly a pleasure to work with and made the planning process a breeze. I had the utmost confidence that I would not have to worry about anything venue-related on my wedding day.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about both the venue and the wonderful ladies who make countless fairytale weddings happen there. From the moment we visited the website, we knew there was something incredibly special about Wadsworth Mansion. The tour only affirmed this. We were planning a June wedding and it was important to us that our venue had the option of air conditioning, as well as equally beautiful indoor and outdoor options (New England weather can be unpredictable to say the least) and that only one wedding per day was hosted at the venue. While there are many beautiful venues in CT, many of the others we toured did not have these options. Fortunately, the weather cooperated and were able to have an outdoor ceremony in the tennis pavilion/rose garden, followed by cocktail hour on the patio, dinner in the ballroom and dancing under the stars on the patio. It was such a unique and beautiful experience for all of our guests. Anne was truly a pleasure to work with and made the planning process a breeze. I had the utmost confidence that I would not have to worry about anything venue-related on my wedding day.

After visiting several possible venues, I decided on Wadsworth for 1 main reason...Deborah. She is warm and funny and makes you feel confident that everything will be taken care of. I would have easily paid double for what the mansion charges. The Wadsworth staff were responsive, available, and made the whole process effortless.

We looked at wedding venues across the state of Connecticut for months before we finally stumbled upon this Middletown gem. The mansion has an experienced staff that was with us every step of the way from what hotels to book for our guests, to honeymoon recommendation; Jess and Anna were our wedding planners, coordinators, photographers and friends. Beyond that, the venue was absolutely beautiful, we were married at the end of August between two blooming hydrangea with a lush green lawn for the backdrop. The bridal suite upstairs had great wallpaper for photos and it was spacious enough for 8 bridesmaids and our hair and makeup artist while the boys were busy downstairs at both bars - the mansion has an indoor bar room and space for a bar setup outside. Weather held up so we were able to do the ceremony, toasts and dancing all outside under the stars, best day of our lives! So happy we picked the mansion!!

This place is AMAZING!!!! Trust me! Have you're wedding here!! We received so many compliments on how elegant the mansion is at our wedding!! The women that run the Event Planning, Debra, Anne, and Jess, are wonderful!! They are there for you no matter what!!! We spent so much time taking trips out to the mansion to look around while we were planning and every time we showed up the ladies were happy to see us!! \r\rThe rental time is perfect too!! It allows you more then enough time to allow your vendors to set up, have your ceremony and party, then for everyone to pack up without having to feel rushed. Plus their vendor list is nice to have so you don't feel over whelmed trying to find the right people for you especially with the caterers.\r\rBetween Anne & Debra and our Catering coordinator Meghan from David Alan Caterers we didn't even need to think about a wedding planner. They answered all of our questions, helped us figure out everything from the time line to how things should be planned and set.\r\rMy advice, don't look any further! The mansion is beautiful and elegant, the grounds are picture perfect and the service is unbeatable!!!! Go look at the mansion as soon as you can and get to know the ladies because it's always worth the trip!\r\rThank you ladies so much for all your help!! We had so much fun!!

The Wadsworth was a great place to host a wedding. People are afraid of the two dining rooms, but it gets people up and moving. We seated younger people in one room, and people my parents age (and older) in the other room. This meant my cousins and some close family friends were all going back and forth to see their parents/children. It was what we hoped for. Also, having food and dancing in the middle allowed people to mingle. They shut the side doors during cocktail hour, so everyone mingled in the logia. The setting couldn't be more beautiful, even in March, and we were really able to craft the wedding as we wanted it to be. If you don't have a lot of time to plan your wedding, a wedding planner, or a very dedicated mother, it might not be the best venue for you. You have to think of everything yourself, and if my mom hadn't been heavily involved, it would not have been such a beautiful wedding. The staff there are very helpful adn provide lots of suggestions.

Every time I visit the Wadsworth Mansion I am again blown away by how beautiful it is and how perfect it was for our wedding. Every one of our photos came out beautifully with the mansion details as a backdrop. They were always responsive, patient, and accommodating with both myself (da bride) and my family/groom/etc. They are so personable and at the end of the wedding one staff member even sought me out to let me know how much she enjoyed my wedding, which I thought was really sweet.\r\r2) The actual building is beautiful, clean, and bright. Don't be discouraged by the two big rooms. If you don't need both rooms having a second, quieter, sitting room is well liked by the guests. If you are using two rooms, people are only really split up while eating. Everyone comes together for the dancing! The \"bar room\" made going to the bar way more fun for some reason. Guests loved it. We set up the \"museum room\" as a photo booth. Guests that weren't dancing inside on the dance floor enjoyed the outside patio tables where they could watch everyone else make fools out of themselves and chat. The upstairs room for the bridal party was a life saver! A place to store stuff, make a costume/gown change, and discreetly cram hors d'oeuvres in the mouth. Also having a \"secret\" place to take five minutes to zone out and drink some water is unimaginably restorative and useful for maximum enjoyment of the evening.\r\r3) The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It makes for wonderful photos and I think it's impressive for the guests as they pull up that long driveway.\r\rCons (not really cons, hence the Five Stars):\r1) Good luck finding catering staff that is as great as the Mansion staff! Catering is an outside service that the Mansion does not provide and the folks I hired were not great (Riverhouse, I'll leave a review for them as well). I am so happy we went with the Wadsworth to have our wedding reception. We wanted something different than your traditional wedding hall. The mansion is so beautiful and gave the party a more familiar feel. The rooms are beautiful decorated so we didn't need to go overboard on decorations with flowers and linens. The patio is spacious and has a wonderful view surrounded by trees. \rKristy was very helpful, always answering promptly my questions and giving me many options of vendors. I really think having our wedding here made it very special and unique, people are still talking about it.

I recently had my wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion (4/30/2011) and everything was perfect! Kristy, Deborah & Debbie are the best! They were attentive and helped me with the final set-up of my wedding. We went through the timeline multiple times so that everyone was clear on what was supposed to happen and when. So, if there was a problem, like the other reviewer, they may have not have taken the time to get everything squared away. The caterers, florists, rental companies all arrived and set-up without a problem. We all were communicating with each other and the staff at Wadsworth Mansion was great at coordinating with everyone. The place was immaculate and the day was perfect. I honestly would recommend this place with all the stars in the sky!

I had my wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion a year ago. This venue was a huge crowd-pleaser. I had several guests tell me that my wedding was the most beautiful and unique one they had ever been to. However, my joys ended there. By contract, we only had the mansion for 8 hours, which after subtracting 3 hours for set up and breakdown, resulted in a rushed wedding, cocktail and reception. We barely had time to do a first dance, let guests enjoy their time on the dance floor, or take enough pictures with our friends and family. The 8 hour limit felt very arbitrary considering there is only one wedding per day at this venue. Also, throughout the planning process, the staff was inflexible about letting our other vendors like the DJ or caterer check out Wadsworth so their set up would be fine, or letting us into the mansion an hour earlier to set up our centerpieces and get our makeup done. Another issue was that we had to pay extra to get an outside caterer, even though this restaurant had plenty of catering experience. At the end of the day, the guests loved this mansion, and our photos were lovely. However, the staff and strict contract created a lot of heartache and left me feeling that my wedding was rushed. While I am thankful to Wadsworth for making my wedding look like a fantasy, the planning process was a nightmare because of an unhelpful staff and arbitrarily strict rules.

The staff was very accommodating and helpful, the facilities and grounds are amazingly cared for and having a candlelit ceremony in front of a fireplace was the most romantic ceremony - lucky it was mine! Everything from the marble floors to the mantle places, to the little nooks to the stone patio leading to a sprawling lawn made for the best photographs which will last a lifetime. A lot of our guests said it was the most intimate and romantic wedding they had ever attended. \rI would recommend the Wadsworth to anyone looking to have a romantic and unforgettable experience.
