The facility is beautiful that was the plus. Communication and planning was another story, my original wedding/event planner had left and I was never notified of the change. I called an the team that took over we’re not accommodating and difficult to communicate with. As a second wedding, we wanted something a little different than status quo. Which seemed to be a problem from the beginning for this team, I felt talked to because we were trying to work within our budget. The language in the contract is confusing and not forthcoming. In the end our guests experienced warm beer and the venue ran out of food. Reviewed on 28-07-2023

Samantha Golino(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2022 Water’s Edge was EXTREMELY stressful to work with.We booked our wedding back in August 2020 and got married June 2022. Within those two years, we went through a total of THREE Wedding Managers. The first Wedding Manager we had, we requested to change from as she was not very responsive. The second Wedding Manager that we had was great. I had sent an email to her in October 2021 requesting additional information regarding the room blocks, only to receive a response from a new Wedding Manager letting us know that our previous Wedding Manager was no longer at Water’s Edge. I’m not sure why an email regarding this wouldn’t go out to all of the couples who were working with her.The final Wedding Manager that we were assigned was terrible. Water’s Edge had only contacted us once during the whole wedding planning process, and that was to ask us to schedule our tasting. This email went out in October 2021 from one of their Wedding Assistants. We responded to their email and confirmed our tasting for February 2022. In November, our Wedding Manager emails us asking why we’re going to a tasting in February if we already attended one. We had never been to a tasting yet for our wedding. They’re only held in January & February, so we were being accused of already attending one when that was not the case.I had reached out to my Wedding Manager in March 2022 to request additional rooms for our room block (they only start you out with 10). I was told that they didn’t have any more rooms to give. I responded asking if there were any other events going on that night. The response that I received was, “The hotel itself is just very busy that day”. Turns out there was ANOTHER WEDDING on the same day as us, and not a single person communicated this to us until 3 weeks before our wedding. Our ceremonies were back-to-back in the same location, and their cocktail hour took place right before ours in the same location.I ended up booking a day-of coordinator because I did not have any trust that Water’s Edge would make sure that our wedding day would run smoothly. I had a site visit with my coordinator & my wedding manager a few weeks before the wedding. My Wedding Manager asked me what ballroom I was in during our site visit, because she couldn’t find it written anywhere in my contract. Three weeks before my wedding and you’re confirming what ballroom I’m in?! This had me so nervous that they accidentally booked two events in the same ballroom. Luckily we were down for the correct ballroom.Leading up to our wedding day, the seating chart and final invoice were wrong and I had to request them to be fixed multiple times despite already providing our final information. The final invoice was calculating the service charge at a higher rate than what it was supposed to be. When I pointed this out, the response I received was that there was a glitch in their system… Had I not caught this, they would’ve overcharged us.The day of, I only saw my Wedding Manager a total of two times. Once was right before I was about to walk outside for my ceremony, and the second time was right before my husband and I were about to be introduced into the ballroom. I found this extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. The grounds of this venue are beautiful and well taken care of, and the banquet staff is great, but the entire wedding team is new within the last year or so and does not seem to have a good handle on things. Skye Chalmers(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-07-2022 My wife and I married at WE on 7/15/22. The day of the wedding was seamless, and the wedding was beautiful. That being said, there is much more to wedding planning than simply the day of being perfect.. The planning leading up to the wedding was extremely stressful and upsetting. We went through three separate wedding managers in the one year that we had had the venue booked, and each time we were only made aware of these changes when I had called to follow up on something. There was minimal communication between staff, and lousy communication to my wife and I. We also went through two menu changes during the process, which was one of our selling points when we chose WE, so we were very disappointed to see some of our planned dishes missing; WE did rectify this, allowing us to use some of the previously listed menu options anyways. Our wife and I also chose fake flowers for the ceremony and did not have a florist, so when asking for assistance setting up the flowers for the ceremony and reception sites, we were told that \"we might want to consider hiring a florist because we aren't florists and we probably won't do it right\" by our WEDDING MANAGER. And this was only about one month before the wedding!! We also had been told by one of our three wedding managers that we could opt out of the vegetarian option and to choose four meat/fish options as to not \"waste\" a meal that only three people would eat, and in the same phone call about the flowers we were told by our new wedding manager (who had clearly had no notes from the previous wedding managers) that we were probably going to have to choose an entirely different menu for both the reception and the rehearsal dinner and ask all of our 125 guests to choose a new meal!! Absolutely outrageous and panic inducing and NOT the type of support or professionalism we needed for wedding planning. These issues were also rectified, but why induce this type of stress on brides, and so close to our wedding day?? Then, the icing on the cake, four days before the wedding, we were told that we should move our ceremony location, and were originally told that they \"didn't want us to feel RUSHED (like what?????) but that there was an event directly after ours that would interfere with our WEDDING CEREMONY.\" Then, we were told that the \"event\" was actually the timeshare owners who would be checking in at 5pm on the day of our wedding, and we were appalled that there was no communication of this prior to THE WEEK before our wedding, instigating extreme anxiety and frustration in an already overwhelming point in the process. The gazebo location where we wanted to get married was apparently right next to the timeshares, but that was the reason why we chose to marry here... WE did rectify this, but what an unbelievably hard time we had trying to convince the staff how obscene and rude and awful this was to ask of their brides only days before our wedding. Overall, not a place I would recommend if you're looking for a peaceful, supportive group to help you plan your special day. Again, the staff really pulled together for the day of, but the way they handled the process was unprofessional, unsettling, and confidence-crushing. Reviewed on 02-08-2022

Nancy was great to work with and easy to get ahold of. She answered all our questions and was so accommodating. We got married on the lawn by the water which was stunning and had a reception under the tent. The food was great and the wait staff made sure I was never without champagne in my glass. We appreciated that Waters Edge invested in a tent in order to make sure weddings could take place while meeting the Connecticut Covid19 guidelines. The setting with the water in the background was beautiful. In addition, the rest of the Waters Edge staff did a fantastic job. The service team made sure our guests were taken care of. The food was outstanding. The accommodations were top notch. Our wedding planner, Ariana did a great job. She was professional and communicated with us on a timely basis starting with when we booked our daughter’s wedding back in May 2019. We never dreamed that there would be a pandemic when we booked the event. Ariana did such a good job keeping us informed of changes as they were happening in Connecticut. She was quick to respond to our questions as we considered alternative dates when it appeared that our original June date would not happen. When the decision was made to move the date to September 5th, Ariana followed up with us on every aspect of the wedding. She kept us on track and reassured not only us, but Nicole and Dan, that they would have a special day. Ariana, Emma, and Shelby did an outstanding job working with all of our vendors. Our vendors have nothing but positive comments about working with the Waters Edge team. Nicole and Dan told us that it was the best day of their lives. We are very appreciative that we were able to give our daughter the wedding that was darn close to the wedding we originally planned. There are not many couples who can say that this year. We had heard about Water's Edge from my mother-in-law and finally went there for my birthday dinner in December 2015. We were very impressed with the grounds, the food and the service. We came back the following week to meet with a wedding coordinator and we booked very soon after. Even in the winter, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. We began working with one wedding coordinator but were assigned to another a couple months into the planning process, which was nerve-wracking at first but ended up working out for the best. We first met with Kate Layman over a year out from our wedding (we had a 2-year engagement) and she immediately eased our concerns about the switch. Kate was absolutely wonderful from start to finish and I cannot say enough good things about her. She was absolutely instrumental in the planning process and helped guide us through everything. Kate met with us on several occasions prior to the wedding, responded to our calls and e-mails in a timely manner, and followed up with us if we were forgetting or falling behind on something. She was able to refer us to vendors when needed. Kate was friendly and easy to relate to, but always professional. She walked through our rehearsal with us and was there for the majority of our wedding day, which really put us at ease. I'm sure everyone says this, but our wedding was absolutely the best day ever. We had the most beautiful day, our guests enjoyed the amenities on site and we were married outside at sunset, which made for the most stunning pictures (Water's Edge staff even took some pictures for us which were among the first we got to see!) and we had the best time dancing and celebrating that night. Kate was in constant contact, along with our attendant Elton, who was also wonderful. I've been told many times that it's inevitable you go hungry on your wedding day since you are so busy, but this was absolutely not the case for us. Elton made sure we were well-fed and that we had drinks throughout the evening, serving us from cocktail hour (when we were aside taking photos) until the end of the night when we arrived back to our room to find cake and champagne! We were so well-fed that we were actually full come dinner time, at which point Elton even offered to wrap up our food! We received so many compliments on our wedding, from the beautiful scenery, to the food (even from the pickiest of relatives) and even had friends tell us they were considering also having their wedding there! We were very impressed with Water's Edge and their wonderful staff, especially Kate and Elton. Kate and Susan did an amazing job taking care of us even though they had other parties to take care of as well. Kate was so flexible and responsive, going with the flow when I had guests changing the RSVP's and food choices. In particular, Edmund went above and beyond waiting on me that night, opening doors, elevators, getting drinks... when my husband and I returned to our suite after the bar closed he even set up champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to surprise us with along with extra cake! We are so happy we made the choice to trust Water's Edge with our special day. I could go on but I think I made the point! Just like promised, I did not lift a finger from the moment my husband and I arrived at the resort. Kate's team made every dream possible, from carefully constructed centerpieces to filling a candy bar throughout the night. My entire bridal party (all 23 members including dates) were waited on hand and foot at the head table, no need to even walk to the bar, let alone ask for a refill on the bread basket. We were truly treated like kings and queens. Not to mention the delicious food! I knew at our tasting that the new chef was passionate and would create something beyond the typical wedding food and he surpassed my wildest dreams! My guests are still talking about the food stations at cocktail hour and the four courses at dinner, needless to say no one went hungry! Every crazy idea I had about my wedding was made possible by Water's Edge. Thank you for making my dreams come true! Reviewed on 13-09-2017
Jennifer R-B(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-09-2018 Less than a month ago my husband and I hosted our wedding weekend at Water's Edge. Our wedding coordinator, Kate L, was incredible. Her attention to detail and timely correspondence made the planning process seamless. She helped us to organize our rehearsal dinner, wedding reception and brunch at Water's Edge and each event was flawless. The head chef, Aaron was so accommodating and kind. He even took the time out of his busy schedule to introduce himself to us at our tasting months before our wedding. The pasty chef went out of his way during the reception to fix the cake flowers that had been accidentally rearranged by another vendor. The bridal attendant could not have been more attentive and even brought us champagne while we were still taking pictures with the photographer at the shoreline during cocktail hour. All and all, Kate L and the Water's Edge team exceeded our wedding day expectations and we could not be more grateful for the superb experience their venue provided for us and our family/friends. Hindsight is truly 20/20 and although there are some details I would change about our day, (ie: transportation, weather) there is nothing I would change about our venue. If you are looking for a personal experience and to truly feel like the only bride your wedding coordinator is working with, then I'd highly recommend Water's Edge. Reviewed on 27-07-2017

The entire hotel staff deserves the highest praise, from the gentleman at the front door who magically appeared to open that door for me every single time I entered the lobby, to the housekeeping staff who we drove crazy (disastrous mess after hair/make-up were finished) and a VERY late check out the day of our departure, to the front desk staff who never looked frazzled and were always accommodating , to the wait staff who were incredibly professional yet personable, and not to be forgotten, Kate, Susan and Dave who along with the flexibility of Aaron, the chef, made it all possible. When a bride and groom have a great time at their own wedding, that is a testament to the wedding event team who never hovered, but, paid attention to every detail and made sure that all was taken care of. We had he lovely wedding at this resort in the beginning of October and despite it being a cloudy, cold, rainy day, the wedding was great and our guests had a great time! We also hosted a rehearsal dinner and morning after brunch in addition to the wedding so we spent a lot of time with Kate, Keith and Aaron planning the events. The wait staff for all three events were fabulous, Sandra ran things perfectly, and Steven was a rock star attending to our every need. Sandra and Steve truly went far and above the call of duty for us the whole weekend. Our wedding coordinator had to take sick leave in the middle of our planning process, so Kate helped get us back on track. Keith also helped smooth the transition and saved the day by finding my son’s backpack, forgotten in the room, with all his homework in it. We were about to depart for our honeymoon and had no time to go back for it so Keith dropped it off to our son that evening! Reviewed on 30-10-2016

Michael Caldwell(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-10-2016 My wife and I were married most recently at Water's Edge Resort and Spa. We had previously visited and spent a weekend there last summer. At that time we were very impressed with everything about the place. As soon as you enter the location, the beautifully manicured grounds, the flowers, AND as soon as you walk in to check in the first thing you see is a spectacular view of the ocean! In addition, the hotel staff as well as all the workers greet you with a smile, they are courteous and always aim to please. I like to think of Waters Edge as an adult playground - a great place to relax, enjoy the beach, excellent food and atmosphere. Really, although there are many cute little shops and entertainment within reach, you really don't have to leave the hotel if you don't want to! It was at that moment, that we knew we found our wedding reception place! From the initial planning, to response time, to being courteous and patient, Kate Layman was always there for us. Her calm demeanor and helpful suggestions were well appreciated in what can be a hectic time. In addition, the staff the day of the wedding were very attentive, professional. Ruby was particularly helpful to my wife and I with whatever we needed.Lastly, although it did rain the day of the wedding, the grounds at Waters Edge (with some of the gazeebos etc.) still afford the chance to take some great photos and should not be overlooked should it rain on your wedding day as well.Overall, a great time, a fun and most beautiful place. Kate is the best, responsive, attention to detail, thinking of all the things I never would have! And Steve did an amazing job day of taking care of us and our parents with food and drinks! So great! I liked that whoever is with you from the planning stage actually comes to your wedding until about 8 or 9 pm to make sure everything is going as planned. Our only very minor drawbacks were the cost of the hotel for guests ($300+ per night in late October, although no minimum stay helps), and we had rain so cocktail hour was in the Royal Foyer and it was very crowded for guests (but not much you can do about that). Overall it was a great experience for local and out of town folks and I'm so glad Waters Edge could accommodate us- thank you! Reviewed on 29-10-2016
Jamie Nguyen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-07-2016 My husband and I were engaged in July of 2014 and we were planning on getting married in the summer of 2016, so we had a lot of time to plan and research venues, and boy did we! We were looking for a great place near the water that would be convenient for our out of state guests (which would be more than half of our guests since my husband's is all out of state). I remember initially telling Alex (my husband) that Water's Edge would be perfect but we were both very concerned with the pricing and figured it was too much outside of what we were willing to spend. However, after visiting 8 venues (including Water's Edge), and researching countless others, we found that Water's Edge was fairly priced and a lot lower than some others along the CT shoreline! I do have to admit that initially I was torn, but after questioning the staff relentlessly, we both agreed that Water's Edge was going to be our wedding venue! Although over the course of the 2 year period, from when we selected our venue to when we got married, we had about 5 different event coordinators with the venue. Some had to leave for various reasons, but in the end we ended up with Kate who made sure we had everything needed for our day to be perfect.Everything turned out amazing. The staff was extremely helpful, the venue was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the view was perfect. Everyone we've talked to since our July 23, 2016 wedding said it was the best wedding they had been to. I've heard concerns about getting married at a venue that's also a resort, for example, \"there's going to be people in bikinis in your wedding pictures!\". But, to be honest, if you get the right photographer, they can angle the picture correctly or crop them out afterwards. Also, the staff at Water's Edge was extremely helpful making sure nothing was in the way. I also heard, \"but there are live bands, are they going to be playing during your wedding?\". No. The staff would never let that happen. And the plus side on this for a summer weekend wedding is, with the live band playing (if you're having your cocktail hour outside) you don't need your DJ to set up during cocktail hour, which worked out nicely for us.Overall, everything was amazing and definitely a day (and night!) to remember thanks to Water's Edge! There were some hiccups in the beginning of the planning process--we had three wedding coordinators in the course of a few weeks right after we booked our wedding, and we were also seeing a lot of negative reviews of the hotel on TripAdvisor--but once we started working with our wedding coordinator Nancy Steele our nerves were put completely at ease! Nancy was very attentive, always making sure our questions were answered and that all of our i's were dotted and t's crossed. She even took us to lunch a few weeks before the wedding so that we could go over any last minute questions we had. She was completely thorough, taking careful note of all of the food additions we made (and we made a lot!), and our wedding day turned out more perfect that we could have ever imagined. She even stayed for most of the wedding reception to make sure everything went smoothly. The rest of the Water's Edge staff did an amazing job as well, from the Catering Manager to Steve, one of the servers who was so attentive to everyone's food and beverage needs throughout the entire reception--my husband and I were never without a drink in our hands! They also did a great job with the breakfast we hosted for our guests the next morning. All of our guests, many of whom were staying at the hotel, couldn't stop talking about what a beautiful resort the Water's Edge was and what a great experience they had there. Of course I had a laundry list of \"personal\" touches that I wanted to add to my wedding, and every single thing was done beautifully by the staff. Anonymous (parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2015 My daughter's recent wedding was at Water's Edge and it was an excellent experience. The entire event (rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, wedding, and breakfast next morning) was well planned and flawlessly executed. The staff was thoroughly professional and incredibly responsive and helpful. We rate our experience as excellent as would have other family weddings at Water's Edge. Reviewed on 14-08-2014
Leslie Grabeck(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-09-2013 I have always wanted a beach themed wedding so we booked our ceremony and reception at Water's Edge Resort & Spa. We were rather disappointed by the many issues we encountered. First, the hotel staff had extremely poor customer service. We stayed at the hotel for two nights and our room reservation got messed up somehow. Upon calling the front desk, the staff had a very poor attitude and acted like we were burdening them when we complained. Considering we were paying Water’s Edge tens of thousands of dollars to host our wedding, we expected top notch customer service. Second, we had a final details meeting with our wedding coordinator the night of our rehearsal where we went through the itinerary one last time. Unbeknownst to us, Water’s Edge had switched our cocktail hour location without bringing it to our attention; it felt like a bait and switch move. We specifically chose to have our cocktail hour on the lower terrace because it had an unobstructed view of the ocean. Plus, we were told that this location was ideal because Water’s Edge provides live entertainment at their outdoor Sunset Bar. Therefore there would be no need to hire a DJ for music during the cocktail hour. After the reception, our guests were directed toward the garden for cocktail hour, which was too far away from the live entertainment to hear and there was a building obstructing most of the ocean view. Having told the DJ we did not need him for cocktail hour, in reliance on Water’s Edge representations, there was no music played during the cocktail hour. We were absolutely furious. When I asked my wedding coordinator why the cocktail hour location was switched, I was advised that there was concern that the next wedding party would be walking through the area for the next ceremony. However, I know at the time we booked our wedding that there were no other weddings booked on our day. As such, Water’s Edge should have made arrangements to coordinate foot traffic for the next wedding accordingly as we had booked first. The fact that Water’s Edge switched a big component of our day without our consent is completely unacceptable. Third, we were provided with a seating chart of our ballroom and asked to indicate where each guest was sitting. At our final details meeting, we were asked where the family tables were. We explained that we sat our parents at tables bordering the dance floor so our parents would be closer to us. However, when the room was set up, the brides’ parents’ table was pushed one table towards the back of the room. Fourth, the groom’s meal order was not correct when served. Lastly, Water’s Edge failed to provide hurricane votives on the tables, which were included in our signature wedding package, thus throwing off my florist’s centerpiece design. This is not an exhaustive list of complaints and of course we know we will never have any recourse. At least our guests were not aware of these issues as they occurred and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The venue's ocean setting is beautiful, but not worth the stress and aggravation. We expected no issues considered the price we paid per plate, plus ceremony fee. We would not consider Water's Edge if we had to do it all over again. Reviewed on 14-10-2013
Diane Iglesias(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2013 Our site coordinator Nancy Steele was wonderful as was the staff the day of our wedding. We were a bit untradiitional because we had an equality wedding but we never felt more welcomed. Nancy did a great job helping us plan and accomodating our specific needs. We had 62 people and a buffet. The setting is incredible and we had our cocktail hour outside on one of the patios and our reception in a room that had a view of the water. The food was great and our guests commented on how good everything was. They also did our wedding cup cake and topper. What a great job and it avoided having to dea with another vendor. The only thing that I had an issue with was some of the pricing for things that resort provides. I didn't expect to pay a gratuity on the ceremony fee, which you are required to pay. We also did get the Venetian bar for our guests, and in asking how they enjoyed it most didn't even know that it was there because the wait staff didn't let them know. Also the presentation of it was underwhelming. But with all of the beautiful views and wonderful food this all took a backseat. She answered my questions and made all the stress disappear, especially since I was planning my CT wedding all the way from TX. There's a $10000 food and drink minimum here for the wedding package we chose but when we didn't meet that with the guest number she added items to our menu like extra desserts and wine so we could meet the minimum. The day of I was disappointed because they set us up to get ready in a room next to the pool maintenance and that was frustrating because we barely had access to the rest of the resort...with that said though they brought us anything we needed from food to drinks. I was so sick with nerves Maggie drove to the Walgreens to get me medicine. \rThe reception and ceremony were flawless...it was 41* on my wedding day and I was so sad the ceremony had to be indoors but Maggie took care of everything making sure it was still the wedding of my dreams. \rFor the cocktail hour we chose to have a 30 minute break between the ceremony and cocktail hour starting and our guests all said they loved the extra time to come take photos before continuing the celebration. While we took photos, the wedding party had their own bartender and he brought us anything we wanted and stayed close to my husband and I the entire night attending to our every need. At the end of the night he just took all our gifts to our room as well as the card box and also my shoes, petticoat and anything else we wanted him to take up to our room.\rThe food was also amazing! Salvatore Palombizio(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-08-2012 A couple years ago good friends of ours from Spain's Canary Islands were married close to where they grew up. The venue was spectacular. It was a resort hotel on the water in the glorious sun of southern Spain. When it came time for us to pick a venue for our wedding we knew we wanted the same feel as this Spanish resort. We looked at a few places in CT but we kept coming back to Water's Edge Resort and Spa. It’s a little pricier than other wedding venues but you do get what you pay for and what you get is great services, a relaxed resort atmosphere and a great view of the Sound. To us it was perfect, though we had a lot of help from Mother Nature. Our day was a warm, dry and sunny summer day. Perfect and just what we had hoped for. Our wedding coordinator at Waters Edge was really helpful in guiding us through the maze that is wedding planning as far as the resort goes. We had a lot of questions and requests and she worked with us and was patient in explaining the ins and outs of their offerings. The wedding package we chose also included extras like a room for the wedding night and a couples massage the next day. Very nice touches given that the rooms are on the pricey side. We booked the Royal ballroom and we were glad we did. It was versatile in layout and the direct outside access to the porch was a nice touch. The wedding staff really took care of our guests and especially the two of us. They made sure we had what we needed and were happy. The food was excellent and all of our guests told us the same. They had a really good assortment of dining options from buffet to sit-down, a variety of cuisine and extras that you could include. We would have liked few couple minor inclusions for the package but all in all it worked out well. \rWe really liked the resort because it allowed family and friends to stay on site with us on the wedding night and the weekend. This was one of the main reasons we selected this venue. This is what we experienced in Spain at our friend's wedding and this resort gave us a similar experience. We were very glad that we chose Water's Edge as the venue for our wedding and would do it again. We would definitely recommend it. \r Reviewed on 02-11-2012
Cynthia Comer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-09-2012 We chose Water's Edge initially because of everything that was included in the wedding package. It was awesome to have the ceremony and reception at the same location and we had such beautiful scenery for both. Our wedding coordinator, Michelle, was amazing! She helped keep us on track with our planning and helped us pull everything together the day of the wedding, from coordinating with our vendors to making sure the decorations looked perfect, I can't imagine going through the planning process without her. We received so many compliments on the food after the wedding too. People kept asking where we got our cake from and when I told them it was included in the wedding package they were amazed that a cake that came with the wedding package tasted so good, and they decorated it specially for us! The grounds at the resort were beautiful for our pictures and we barely had to decorate for the ceremony because the gardens were so pretty! The guest rooms at the resort were a little pricey (complimentary for the bride and groom on the wedding night) but they are so beautiful that it was worth it to have our family and friends staying there. They do sometimes have more than one wedding in a day, but they have a great staff and plan it so well that it doesn't take away from each couples wedding atmosphere. They seemed a little more expensive than other venues that we looked at up front but when we took into account everything that was included it actually turned out to be pretty comparable to the other venues. But the service is definitely second to none. I really can't say enough good things about Water's Edge, they were so friendly and accommodating to us and our families and I would recommend them to any bride that is looking for an amazing venue that offers a great wedding package. I'm sad that our wedding is over, but I'm so happy that we chose such a great place to celebrate it, we will definitely be going back to Water's Edge to celebrate our anniversary! It was a cold and dreary day in the middle of February and much to my surprise, the Water’s Edge was absolutely stunning! The views overlooking the water are spectacular and I knew right away this was where I wanted to have my wedding ceremony and reception. Our wedding coordinator was Michelle T. On the day of our wedding, August 18th, we had a morning of rain which I believe and is believed to symbolize good luck, and then the skies cleared, the sun came out, and we ended up having such awesome weather for ceremony! Our wedding ceremony was on the lower lawn overlooking the gorgeous ocean, cocktail hour was on the lower deck with the Water’s Edge live band playing in the background and we were surrounded by an array of beautifully bloomed flowers. Our reception was held in the Grand Ballroom for a buffet style dinner and late night dancing. I could not have been more pleased with the service, food, atmosphere, and overall quality of the Water’s Edge. Our bridal party server, Joe, was phenomenal. I can’t rave enough about him as Joe was completely attentive to us and ensured we had drinks, food during pictures and cocktail hour, and most importantly that the bride was the first to make her dinner plate! When I say everything, I mean everything was well organized and nothing missed a beat which made our special evening flawless! My husband and I are still receiving compliments from our guests who say it was the most amazing wedding. All of our guests till this day rave about the food, our cake, and how spectacular our wedding day was and how hey wish they could experience it all over again and so do I! The second my fiance and i walked in we looked at each other and knew this was it! There had been some skepticism that there were more than one wedding taking place at a time which made it feel a bit like a 'wedding factory'. This could NOT be further from the truth! We were assigned our AMAZING wedding coordinator, Michelle Johnson, and began planning our fairytale wedding. Michelle and Water's Edge was so accommodating and really allowed our imaginations to soar. For first time brides wedding planning can be a bit intimidating. How do you know proper etiquette for certain things and how do you know you are making the best decisions?? That's where our wedding coordinator came in! i must have asked her 5 million questions throughout the course of our 9 month engagement and she was so knowledgeable and helpful every time.. even if it was the 6th time that day i was calling her. I felt like I was the only wedding she and water's edge cared about for the entire year. The day of the wedding could not have gone more perfectly. Everything from the beautiful outdoor cocktail hour to the Royal Ballroom was PERFECT. My husband and I had our own private butler who made sure we ate and that our glasses were always full and our entire bridal party were taken care of as well. Michelle was there every single step of the way and even held the doors open for us as we were announced into the ballroom! The food was so amazing and every single one of our guests walked away saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Water's Edge is the most wonderful place for your wedding especially if you want to make a weekend out of it. We had some dramatic and unfortunate events in the course of planning and day of and she was amazing at keeping things together and making sure we, okay I, was calm. The venue is amazing. We had our ceremony outside, and it rained the day before, they did everything they could to make it dry and beautiful where we were and it was perfect- sunny, warm, great setup. She knows what she's doing. All her suggestions enhanced the day. The hotel and grounds are BEAUTIFUL, superior quality everything. Our cake was everything we wanted it to be, everyone raved about the food after, all the vendors had great experiences communicating with Maggie & team. Everything was done to the letter, went off without a hitch. And we had a HUGE wedding- there was only one room big enough for us and it was perfectly set. All of our guests raved about the location- many made long weekends out of our wedding and more still have plans to go back. We also love the idea of having a place to go back and reminisce every anniversary! :) Beautiful, gorgeous, perfect. Ashley Andrews(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2012 The Water's Edge came recommended to me, by a friend. I have to say, that I did have times that I was disappointed in the planning process. Mainly due to the construction of a new building on their property, and the switch of the wedding planner during the planning process. At times it was a little hard to get a hold of the planner, and I felt like I had to be a pest sometimes to try & get a response. I do understand, though, that they have a lot of brides & weddings that they are dealing with, and they are VERY busy. In the end, though, the planner ALWAYS came through & took care of ANY questions or concerns I had, with patience & ease. The wedding itself was beautiful & I'm still getting compliments from guests who said it was the BEST wedding they've been to. All of our guests LOVED the food! I highly recommend getting the Surf & Turf - Filet Mignon & Maine Lobster Meat! Our guests could not say enough about that entree! The wedding planners were w/us literally every step of the way, on the day of the wedding, helping w/every aspect of the ceremony & the reception. They were even there when I had a mishap w/my veil as I walked down the aisle. They fixed the situation & helped keep me calm through the issue. I would also like to give special thanks to our bridal party waiter, Joe. He was AMAZING! I can't say enough about him! He was by our side the entire night, helping us with ANYTHING we needed. He was so attentive & so GREAT! He goes above & beyond the job of a waiter! My only complaint would be that dinner came out really late & ate up some of the reception dance time. I recommend asking about extending the reception by an hour. That came as a suggestion from our DJ, and I'm glad that we paid the money to extend it. Other then that, Water's Edge is the place to have your beach wedding. I've been to other beach weddings, and NONE of the locations compare to Water's Edge. It is a GREAT location, the grounds are beautiful & made for AMAZING pictures! I HIGHLY recommend the Water's Edge!! Reviewed on 15-07-2012

I was passed along through 3 people over email and when we arrived for our consultation we were actually shuttled to a 4th who knew nothing about our wedding or any of the previous conversations I'd had with the other people. The first ballroom we saw was right next to the dining room where Sunday brunch would be happening two feet from my ceremony. Then we would have to walk through the restaurant and half the hotel to have a cocktail hour in the hallway and a reception in another ballroom. How does any of that make sense? The person giving us a tour basically talked us out of having it there by complimenting another venue we had looked at previously and apologizing every five minutes for not being prepared. Everything about the weekend was perfect - the rehearsal dinner, the breakfasts for guests, the wedding ceremony outside on the royal terrace, the cocktail hour, the reception, etc. Elizabeth Ferguson, our planner handled everything so incredibly well. It was certainly unprecedented - the hurricane scenario - and she was so calm, wise and helpful during the process where we ultimately decided to cancel. For the rescheduled wedding, she was buttoned up, organized and didn't miss a beat. She (and the entire water's edge wait staff) made us feel like royalty. They made us feel so special - particularly with the little added touches (candles in our room, drinks ready for us as soon as we finished one, etc.). Overall, i would 100% recommend the water's edge as a venue for a wedding ceremony & reception. Lindsey Paro(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-08-2011 Water’s Edge has been given quite the bad rap lately, as a result of constructing a new building on the grounds. I personally did not find this to be much of an issue with my wedding. First of all, it does say in the contract that we signed that Water’s Edge reserves the right to make changes to the property, construct buildings, etc. Secondly, we were given a discount and allowed to move our ceremony location. The only thing that concerned me was that we were not notified of the construction, but once I got over that, I went with the flow and my wedding ended up being really amazing! \r\rMaggie Bascom was extremely responsive and helpful in the planning process and on the day of the wedding. All day, while I was getting ready/at the salon (Salon Massimo, on the property, which was really great, by the way!) Maggie was taking care of vendors, family, wedding party, etc. and I didn’t have to worry about a thing! The ceremony was beautiful and our guests were quickly shepherded to a lovely cocktail hour with delicious hors d’oeuvres and an open bar, and then to the reception. The Grand Ballroom was the perfect size for us, and the food was exceptional – everyone was raving about it! Everything went so smoothly, and we couldn’t have asked for a better time! \r\rAs for the hotel, there was a little confusion with the front desk about our block of rooms, but other than that, everything was wonderful! My bridesmaids and I stayed in a three room suite the night before, which was fantastic, and my husband and I upgraded to a King room with a sitting area. The room was clean, comfortable, and very roomy (all of the girls got ready and took pictures there before the ceremony, which worked out great!) We had an intimate little buffet breakfast the next morning, which was also delicious, and lots of help from the hotel staff getting all of our stuff in our car! \r\rOverall, it was a great event and it really was worth the money (even despite the construction!) I would recommend it, particularly because the pricing structure is so simple and does include a lot (passed/stationary hors d’oeuvres, open bar, four dinner options, free valet, massage/facial, hotel room for the bride and groom, and most importantly, a dedicated wedding coordinator). Katharyn Roth(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-06-2010 We had the whole wedding at Waters Edge. Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We chose this venue because of the beautiful views, great food, onsite accomodations, open bar, wedding cake, and onsite coordinator included in the packages, and the ability to have an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour. Our venue cooridinator, Cindy Sanchez was absolutely awesome! She was always there to answer any and all questions and the day of the wedding she was a life saver and there every step of the way including sitting with me while I felt sick before the ceremony. The reason I didn't give the venue an A+ was because of some of their strict rules, over priced extras, over priced rooms for guests, and the fact that our cake didn't come out as promised. It came out beautifully and almost what we asked for, but we only had 3 tiers, and they missed the gold ribbon at the base of each layer which meant the cake had almost no color and was all white. We loved it there, and the guests loved the water views during the ceremony and cocktail hour, everyone raved about the food and the drinks. We got a lot of compliments on the food and that we had stations as opposed to a plated dinner. People loved that they could choose how much and what to eat and I saw several people going back up for more. Everything was gorgeous, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. Our last complaint was that we were charged for kids meals that were charged to the room, so we had to fight to get that off, but other than that everything was amazing and went smoothly. Sherri Veilleux(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-11-2010 I really loved Water's edge. The service at the wedding was impeccable and the food was outstanding. The place looked beautiful! \r If I have to criticize there were a couple of things. First beware that the bar is not include in most of their packages and if it is its only a couple of hours. To me this place was expensive but worth it.\r Second, the rooms there are wicked expensive and just ok.\r Lastly, my biggest complaint was that they called me 2 days before the wedding to tell me they were digging up the back lawn which I find hard to believe they didn't know about. My wedding was at night so you could see it cause it was dark but your paying for a beautiful view and it was blocked by machines and dirt. Like I said you could really tell at night but still its the point and I was supposed to be taking pictures down by the beach but decided not to and I am glad we didn't because it was a wreck there and I would have been very upset. We ended taking picture a another beach closer to where my church was and we nailed the sunset beautifully. I have my photographers to thank for that. \r All in all it was a fantastic day and I am glad we choose Water's edge (minus the dirt piles and machines) Reviewed on 20-12-2010
Kara Langan(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-10-2010 I want to thank Cindy Sanchez , wedding coordinator, and the staff at Waters Edge Resort for helping make my daughter's wedding perfect. From the day we toured till the day we checked out, plans went smoothly. The staff were helpful and willing to meet our every need. We had a large family traveling from PA and MA and were very impressed with the hotel. It's beautiful. It was like having a destination wedding in CT. We wouldn't change a thing, it was perfect! Shannon Bartholomew(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-09-2010 Delicious food, great service, grounds could have been more well kept,I have seen better landscaping at a local shopping center, kind of disappointed us in that dept. The resort should try to keep people away from the wedding ceremony's as well because now I have total strangers in a lot of my pictures. Some of it is inevitable as it is a public place however, hotel guests should not be standing on the sidewalk I used for my aisle while Im walking down. Unfortunately, the days events were all running late, and not because of us, so we ended up adding on an extra hour so it became another added expense. Overall my guests were impressed. I was not impressed with the cake. Reviewed on 16-10-2010

On the day of, everything ran smoothly and I didn't have to worry about a thing. Some people might look at the cost per person and think it's expensive but they take such good care of you and so much is included, it's worth every penny. Reviewed on 27-09-2010
