A country estate of the first order, Welkinweir is nestled into a hillside of 224 acres in the heart of Chester County. The property takes its name from the Old English translation of "where sky meets water." To this end, five ponds and a meandering brook are just the beginning of a true visual feast.
Remnants of a 200-year-old stone barn, a springhouse, protected forests, abundant wildlife and a 55-acre arboretum paint a scene of incredible beauty and tranquility. Formal gardens and terraces surround the venerable estate house, its earliest roots traced back to the 1740s. Listed on the National Historic Register, the residence lends a time-honored backdrop for indoor/outdoor events. Welkinweir is the home of Green Valleys Watershed Association, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to protect, preserve and restore the natural watersheds of Chester County.

Welkinweir Estate Reviews

My partner and I toured 11 venues and were totally burned out๐ We sat on our couch ready to give up but then we came across Welkinweir and were automatically off to tour number 12. We schedule an in-person tour and met with the JAM representative. Within the first few minutes my partner and I turned to each other knowing this was it. Welkinweir Estate is not only a beautiful venue but the JAM staff have been nothing short of amazing during this entire experience. HIGHLY recommend! Reviewed on 05-08-2023

Title: A Love Affair with Welkinweir Estates Rating: โ โ โ โ โ Even before our wedding day, Welkinweir Estates has won our hearts. Nestled in Pottstown, PA's breathtaking landscapes, the venue beholds beauty beyond words. With a staff as lovely as its backdrop, this venue has been nothing short of a dream for our upcoming nuptials. Can't wait to say \"I do\" on these enchanting grounds! Reviewed on 13-08-2023
Sarah Paluck(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-09-2023 Welkinweir Estate is the perfect venue for couples who are looking for a gorgeous outdoor venue. The gardens and estate are amazing with endless spots for beautiful photos! Not only are the grounds beautiful but JAM Catering and staff have been incredible. We just had our tasting and it was amazing. I can not wait to get married here! Reviewed on 27-02-2023
Cait Gossert(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-06-2019 We're so excited for our wedding at Welkinweir! Not only will the food be amazing because the venue is part of JAM Catering and they make everything fresh, on-site, but the backdrop to our ceremony will be breathtaking. The estate at Welkinweir is a large, well-preserved stone mansion on a lush, green property with gorgeous flowers all around. The ceremony site is set on old barn ruins, which have left three elevated seating tiers, similar to an amphitheater style. In the spring, summer, and fall (and winter, but they don't hold weddings in the off-season), it's an absolutely gorgeous property. I can't wait for our big day! Reviewed on 17-12-2018
Sarah Jakubowski(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2018 Welkinweir was the secret garden wedding venue that my husband and I were looking for! The Manor House is so beautiful and is wonderfully kept. The reception tent off the manor house has a gorgeous hardwood floor, stone dance floor and the tent itself was brand new and lovely with clear skylight panels and lots of string lights. All the ceremony areas are gorgeous - we picked the barn ruins overlooking the lake and we absolutely loved it. It's so quiet and serene and with all that natural beauty, you don't need a lot of ceremony decor! We received so many complements from our guests about the venue- everyone loved it! My husband and I were so happy with our decision to have our wedding at Welkinweir! Reviewed on 02-11-2018
Elisa Downey-Zayas(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-09-2016 The venue is absolutely breathtaking. We had our wedding mid-September and the landscapes were everything I could have hoped for... all the pictures are filled with lush greens, rolling hills and the lake in the background. All of our guests kept telling us how stunning it was, and once I saw the pictures I couldn't agree more! A beautiful setting for a beautiful day. I fell in love as soon as I saw the venue in January, but I couldn't have imagined how wonderful it would be even in my wildest dreams. Only potential drawback is they can only fit 150 people. But we were hoping to keep our wedding small so this was actually a positive for us. You will not regret choosing Welkinweir! And it's one of the few places that I found have a really great back up plan if the weather wasn't good! Reviewed on 16-10-2016
Jordan salas(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-11-2013 I think everyone should get married here!! The estate is absolutely beautiful in every way - and add to that, the incredible service provided by Robert Ryan Catering - just an unbelievable experience. \r\rWhile it did rain on our wedding day, I truly forgot that our original plan was to be outside. The staff did such a great job making it a seamless transition from the beautiful outdoors, to the antique, beautifully intimate, living room. Everything was just perfect. The tent looked amazing and I cannot say enough good things about the Robert Ryan team. \rThe green valley association was great to work with as well.! Reviewed on 01-11-2014
Julia Edick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-09-2014 In my opinion, Welkinweir is the most beautiful venue in the area. Everytime I go, I am blown away by the amazing views. It is simply stunning. Reviewed on 14-10-2014
Kathleen McGinnis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-05-2014 Welkinweir is an absolutely beautiful place and Robert Ryan Catering does a fantastic job with weddings here. We chose this location because of its seclusion (you won't see anyone that day except your wedding party and guests), quietude, and completely beautiful outdoor surroundings. Having a wedding there in late May/early June ensured that the entire place would be in bloom and we were lucky enough to have perfect weather to match. It was the first time that most of our vendors (photographer, florist, etc.) had been there and they couldn't stop raving over the location. The photographers kept saying they wish they had come hours earlier to take pictures for themselves! Our guests loved the place just as much as we did and loved checking out the old estate house and beautiful grounds. Our wedding had about 110 total people and that was a very comfortable fit for both the ceremony and reception locations (I think over 140 would start to feel a little small). So if you are looking for a beautiful, unique, stunning place for a smaller outdoor wedding, don't overlook Welkinweir! PLUS your venue fee is actually a donation to the Green Valleys Association - pretty cool! Reviewed on 15-06-2014
Jane Costanzo(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-06-2013 We found Welkinweir completly by accident and I'm so glad we did. It has the most beautiful gardens with a gorgeous house that guests can use as they please. There is a large tent seet up in the yard overlooking a serene lake with lilly pads and beautiful wild birds. I would recommend Welkinweir to anyone having an outdoor wedding. Our guests were all amazed and comfortable. My husband and I could not have been happier with our ceremony and reception. Reviewed on 03-07-2013

Sarah Stone(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-10-2010 This was the first place my [now] husband and I looked at and we knew immediately it was the place we'd be married. Offers a spectacular setting for intimate outdoor weddings (would not recommend for more than 150 guests). The wedding coordinators were fabulous--the perfect balance of being detail oriented and laid back. We made use of the entire venue for ceremony, pictures, reception, relaxing, etc. Book early--they don't do weddings year round. Reviewed on 28-12-2010
