The venue and staff at West Overton is AMAZING and was the perfect venue for our Wedding in August. Lindsey and Patrick were there to support us for setup and during the reception and were nothing but rockstars. The big barn was beautiful - we had plenty of space to dance even with 200+ guests and our guests loved being able to walk the grounds and stand outside also. We 10/10 recommend West Overton - it is such a unique and classic venue space with so many great photo spots! Reviewed on 21-08-2023

We held our ceremony in the Overholt Room, cocktail hour in the Distillery Museum, and reception in the Big Brick Barn. Our guests had so much fun at cocktail hour in the Distillery Musuem and asked to linger beyond the scheduled one hour while we finished taking photos. We had multiple compliments on how beautiful the venue was, and we agree! Alesha and Hannah went above and beyond throughout the entire process and made sure everything was seamless the day of. Hannah was present from us setting up Friday afternoon until the end of rehearsal that evening. Moments before I walked down the aisle Alesha came to the rescue and helped us with some last minute details. We cannot thank the staff enough for helping us have the perfect day. We initially wanted our ceremony in front of the house, but once we saw how beautiful the garden was, we quickly changed our minds. West Overton Village offers the romance and charm that we wanted for our wedding, that we couldn't find elsewhere. The Big Brick Barn is also out of a fairytale, with the draped lights and exposed brick walls. Every one of our guests quickly fell in love with the it! Also, Carson's Catering was fantastic to work with. Beulah was extremely attentive to every email I sent, which was a lot, and she never made me feel as though I was a burden. The museum and the Overholt Room were perfect for what we wanted! We had a cocktail hour in the museum with a bar. We then had hors d oeuvres, dancing, dessert, and drinks downstairs for the remainder of the night. We were free to do whatever we wanted with decorations, alcohol, and desserts. This was something we loved! The bar packages at a lot of the places we were interested in were outrageous. Jordan Smith(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-09-2017 Such a beautiful venue! I received many compliments about how it was the perfect venue for a wedding. That being said expect to do everything yourself and have someone designated to coordinate the day of. They give you a \"captain\" who is supposed to help you take care of day of things but I never saw this person. Thankful I had a friend available who helped set up when we had to switch our ceremony to inside when it rained. Reviewed on 28-10-2017
Amanda Hankinson(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-10-2018 The lack of communication was horrible. When I tried to contact our coordinator my messages went unanswered. The barn was dirty when we went to decorate and we found a dead bird under one of the tables. I found working with Carson's exhausting. It was very disappointing becuase your wedding is supposed to be amazing and even though mine was in the end it was because my mother had to take over where Carson's dropped the ball and she should not have had to do there job. I would not recommend using them for anything. They are great at selling their services but do not deliver any of their promises. Reviewed on 18-08-2017
Sean Flanigan(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-01-2018 Booking our venue and catering through Carson's was the best decision we made throughout our whole wedding planning process. When searching for the perfect barn to have our wedding we came across West Overton Barn on the internet. We were on our way back to Virginia where we were living for a year when we called the caterer owner Tim Carson. He was so incredibly friendly and offered to let us see it that day. We quickly got off the turnpike and made our way to Scottdale. Tim met us there to show us the barn and the distillery. This was our first venue that we went to go look at. We were just expecting to “visit” and get an “idea” of what we wanted. Instantly, after walking into the West Overton Barn we fell in love with it; it was truly love at first sight. It was everything we were looking for and so much more! Tim took the time to discuss the barn in detail with us and before we left to head back to Virginia we had decided that this was going to be where we were going to have our wedding. Throughout, the entire wedding planning process Carson’s did a great job with communication. They were always willing to take the time to meet with us and answer any questions that we had. It seemed like every time we were in town we wanted to visit the barn, and they were always happy to let us visit. On one visit we got to visit the “decorating room” and that is where we met Kristine Carson. She is truly a ray of sunshine. She immediately walked us through and showed us all of the beautiful things she has made for weddings. This room showed table settings, backdrops, centerpieces, and everything you could possibly think of for a wedding. Sean: We developed quite a relationship with both Tim and Kristine Carson. My wife would go to them with what I thought were crazy ideas and they were always willing to listen to her. I can honestly say that we always felt better after each and every meeting with the both of them. Throughout multiple meetings, emails, and phone calls communication always seemed to be both extremely efficient and also very helpful. Watching my wife’s face light up as we drove in to our wedding is something I will never forget. She truly walked in to her fairy tale wedding! Carson’s truly made her the happiest bride and in return made me a very happy groom. We danced the night away with all of our closest family and friends in what turned out to be the best day of our lives thanks to Carson’s Catering. Reviewed on 03-11-2016
Taylor Flanigan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-01-2018 Taylor: I was one of those “Pinterest Brides.” According to most people I was a bit of a bridezilla. However, every time I felt overwhelmed when planning the wedding I met with Tim and Kris and they instantly calmed all my wedding nerves. I could give them “crazy ideas” as everyone called them and they would make them come alive by giving their very useful insights. Even though I know they would do dozens and dozens of weddings during the year I always felt like mine was very important to them. I never felt like we were just a number to them. Over the two years that we planned a wedding they truly became like family to Sean, my mom, and myself. Tim and Kris are the most amazing business owners I have ever met. Beulah who works for them is also an amazing asset to their company. Every time I called with questions or concerns Beulah was always there to talk! And Tommy who was our event coordinator was absolutely fantastic! He was always able to be found throughout the night and assisted us with everything we needed. It was a pleasant experience working with Carson’s from the first day of walking in to the barn to the last day walking out of the barn during our send-off. The hardest part about having our wedding come to an end was our journey of working with Carson’s was coming to an end as well. However, I was completely wrong when I thought that. They have become family and we are sure to visit them for all the years to come. If I can give any bride any advice…. It would be to book your wedding with Carson’s Catering. It will be the best decision you will make while planning a wedding and it will be a memory you will cherish forever! You will truly have your fairy tale wedding when having a wedding with Carson’s Catering. We would like to say that the entire staff was fantastic and we were very fortunate of being able to work with them. The vision that we had written down with paper and pencil had turned out to be better than we could have ever imagined. We could barely hold back our emotions when we walked into our wedding when being introduced. There was attention to detail in everything that they had set up for us and made it even more beautiful than we had imagined. Words cannot describe the job that they had done and how beautiful it was. We cannot thank them enough for making our wedding not only unforgettable but also one of the most beautiful events of our lives. We cannot say thank you enough. We would highly recommend Carson’s catering for your wedding venue. They work extremely hard to make your wedding experience one of a kind and an unforgettable experience for your guests. We did our ceremony outside in front of the house which was perfect. The weather helped, it was a perfect day! We had our cocktail hour in the distillery which was nice and cool inside. We had a very nice set up inside of appetizers and drinks. Then our reception was up in the big barn. It was stunning!! The decorations they have and the lights just make it such a beautiful place! Everyone said they loved that every detail was perfect. I think if it was a little hotter out, the barn may have been a little too hot, but we lucked out with the weather!! We did rent the big fans they had which helped with the heat and there was a nice breeze that came thru when the doors were open. Lisa Stack(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2012 West Overton Village and Museum is a preserved historic village that was the birthplace of Henry Clay Frick. In addition to several houses and shops, it features the largest brick barn in PA. It is absolutely gorgeous! I recieved so many compliments on this unique venue. It is very rustic, and features no heat or A/C. We had our wedding in October, so we were not worried about A/C (a close friend was in a wedding here in August, she said it was way too hot). We did bring in two patio heaters, and combined with 200 people moving around and dancing, we were very comfortable. You have to use Carson's Premier Catering for this venue. We had ample time (two days) to set up prior to the wedding. It is amazing inside! Large rafters wrapped in twinkle lights, just beautiful after dark. There is one bathroom inside, the rental also includes two bathrooms at the next building over (probably only about 25 feet away). For us, with lots of younger guests, it was no big deal. We had the full run of the village to take pictures with our photographer, and there are so many neat places here. If you are looking for a relaxed, rustic, yet classy venue, this is it.
