What should have been a joyful, relaxing, and lovely after-wedding brunch turned into an embarrassing, stressful, awful experience. That bad experience was made worse because Westlake Village Inn did not care. We had reserved a private buffet brunch for up to 80 people, for the day after my wedding. We created a menu with Kaylyn in the catering department, discussing how much food and coffee we should order for up to 80 people, selected tables, linens and dishes and paid in full ten days before the brunch (as required). The brunch was to be buffet style from 10:30AM - 1:30PM on the Vintage Patio. We were assured that the food would continually be replenished as needed since guests would be coming at different times. When my mom arrived early on the morning of the brunch, the servers immediately took her aside and told her that the food currently displayed was all the food we would receive - they said we could not get more food because it was a holiday weekend (Memorial Day weekend) and the other restaurants at the hotel were closed. They were firm in the fact that they absolutely could not make more food because there was no food to make. My mom was immediately shocked and horrified as the amount of food set out was clearly insufficient for 80 people, not appropriate for the \"come when you want\" brunch, not what we carefully planned and not what she paid for. The servers said they wanted us to know, there would not be enough food and that was it. The first guests arrived at 10:30. Approximately 15 people served themselves, got beverages and sat down to eat. One guest went up for a second cup of coffee and was rudely told there was no more coffee. The bacon, sausage, and potato trays were empty, and the juice and coffee station was nearly empty. Guests were arriving and were hungry. There were no drinks, no hot food, and only a few dry bagels on a plate, a bowl of yogurt, and a half-eaten tray of fruit. Guests were telling my mom that there was no coffee, no juice, not enough food. We were mortified. My aunt and uncle (who should have been relaxing, enjoying family and the brunch) ran to their car, drove up the street and got deli platters and sandwiches from a local grocery store so my mom would not have to suffer the humiliation of 60 wedding guests arriving at a brunch where there was no food. When they returned, they began to put the food out as guests were all asking where the food was. There was still no coffee or juice! Unknown to us, the staff and manager were watching this all unfold on their security cameras and the manager angrily came out to tell us we could not have our own food there. My mom once again told them she paid for food for 80 people. They only provided food for 20 and did not replenish as promised. Miraculously, when they saw us bring food in, they managed to find more bacon, sausage and potatoes \"in the back\" and charged my mom an additional $200. By then, the damage was done. Hungry guests had left to find breakfast, or were eating the deli platters and sandwiches my family had to bolt out to get.Meanwhile, the very nice serving staff told us this happens \"all the time\" and that we should complain. Following the brunch from hell, my mom and I contacted Kaylyn in the catering department to tell her what happened. We met with her in person, to convey how shocked and upset we were, especially after working with her to plan properly. She seemed surprised but simply apologized and told us they would make changes so this doesn't happen again. Westlake Village Inn didn't even offer to refund the additional $200 we had to pay for food we had already paid for! My wedding brunch was ruined, my mom was humiliated, we spent hundreds more than budgeted for deli platters and paying twice for the catering we already had paid for, guests were hungry (and are STILL talking about the buffet that wasn't), and Westlake Village Inn did nothing to even try to make it right. There are moments in life so important that there are no do-overs. A wedding weekend is one of those events. As local residents, the Westlake Village Inn seemed like the perfect place to end a magical wedding weekend. The Westlake Village Inn is beautiful, no doubt about that. But the beauty of the location does not make up for the awful experience. We felt scammed, and it was clear from the servers that this scam was common. We will never book another event at the Westlake Village Inn. Reviewed on 13-06-2023

We were very pleased with the room and the event staff. We held our ceremony at the Tuscan Garden and our reception in the Provence room. The beauty of the Tuscan Garden has to be experienced firsthand, but the tree archways at the back of the aisle made for an intimate procession despite the number of guests that attended, and the rest of the space was equally unforgettable. The short walk from ceremony to reception space gave our guests an opportunity to appreciate the rest of the premises, with scenic lakeside views great for sunset photos. The Provence room and adjoining patio were a perfect cocktail hour/reception combo, and later in the night, the patio was very popular for people who needed a dance break, as was the very comfortable entry room. The staff, and especially Kelly, our coordinator, were incredibly professional and helpful. Kelly was tirelessly available to us as we were planning the big day, and a tremendous stress reliever on the day. Our reception was in the Provence Room, and it was stunning. The wood floors, crystal chandeliers, patio, and sitting room were so beautiful and required very little decoration. We only brought in floral and chargers. The ceremony site was beautiful, we went with the Tuscan Garden and the greenery was so pretty. The only drawback was they do not have a bridal suite or groom area for the bridal party to get ready, so we had to book several hotel rooms for two nights. That cost added up and we ended up with three empty hotel rooms for two nights. The food was absolutely delicious and our guests had no issue with their meals or the bar. Our wedding coordinator Jeannie was so sweet and helpful, the entire staff was extremely kind and generous! Every single one of my out of town guests who stayed at the Inn had nothing but wonderful things to say about their rooms and experience. My fiance's whole family lives in Colorado and really wanted to go to Malibu to see the beach and the venue was perfect because it was so close, they could do little day trips and be back in time to not miss any of the festivities! I could go on and on for days of all the things we loved about our wedding venue so I will just give tips and highlights! We did our Rehearsal Dinner in the Wine Cellar which was super romantic and made it so out of town guest didn't ever have to leave the Inn. The Tuscan Garden Ceremony spot is the most private and is stunning! The green arches gives you and your Groom a private moment when you first appear before guests even see you which I really enjoyed and I highly suggest picking a room close to the spot so you can watch it being set up as you get ready, it makes it really fun and exciting! The Fairway Patio for cocktail hour gave guests a chance to get a photo with their dates or family by the beautiful lake that sits in the middle of the property (I was told this was a great way to occupy guests while they waited for dinner time). The Provence Room for our reception was the perfect size for our guest count of 160 people (maximum capacity 200) and provided a beautiful backdrop behind the sweetheart table of the lake through big bay windows. After all of the wedding reception festivities were complete (cake cutting, father daughter dance, dinner, etc.) we proceeded to the Fairway Room for dancing! Jennifer Eye(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2016 I really wanted to leave great reviews for all of my wedding vendors, but, sadly, I cannot leave a glowing review for either of the two Westlake Village Inn wedding day coordinators with whom I dealt business. I paid about $1,000 to hire the day-of wedding coordinator that Westlake Village Inn provided from their catering department. I thought that since I was paying for their coordinator services that I could have a few questions about my wedding answered along the way since it was my first time to ever get married and I was inexperienced about preparing for weddings. My first day-of coordinator, Briana Foss, hardly ever returned any of my emails or phone calls (which started five months before the wedding date), my mother’s phone calls or my husband’s mother’s emails or phone calls. The questions that we had were simple and not complicated (for example: should we order cocktail napkins or will the venue provide those?). We did not bother Briana often with questions, yet we had to finally go to management to complain about two months before the wedding date because we were so disappointed that she ignored all three of us and that she would hardly get back to us about anything.Jeannie Reed, the day-of wedding coordinator that replaced Briana, was better about returning our phone calls and emails, but was somewhat rude to the vendors that I hired for my wedding event. I’m guessing that since my vendors were not chosen from their preferred vendor list, that is why she showed a bit of an “attitude” towards them. I noticed that she gave my flower vendor and my DJ a bit of a hard time by ignoring them, walking away from them in the middle of conversations, saying that she had other business to attend to, and by giving unfriendly looks to the vendors. My wedding day was beautiful, but I had to be in the middle of everything, including set-up, until 3:30 p.m. on the day of my wedding (I got married around 6:00 p.m.), which added unnecessary stress to my special day. I remember finally sitting down in the makeup chair to get my hair and makeup done by my hair and makeup artist at around 3:00 p.m., just to be pulled out of the hotel room to check out the decorations in the reception hall, even though I left pictures and sticky notes on all of the items saying how and where I wanted everything placed at the venue hall.Anyhow, good, old-fashioned customer service and respect is all I and my family really wanted from the Westlake Village Inn Catering Department Day-of Wedding Coordinators, but, unfortunately, that did not seem to be one of their areas of strength from what we experienced. The Tuscan Garden where we had our reception was a fairy tale garden, perfect for all our photos. The Lakeside Room where our reception was held, was perfect as well. The decor is so beautiful on its own, we hardly had to add any decorations. The adjoined patio was ideal and gave our guests an opportunity to enjoy the view of the pond and outdoor fireplace. Jessica Galaif(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2016 I would definitely NOT recommend getting married here.We encountered endless problems with the Westlake Village Inn from the planning to the night of my wedding. We had the ceremony at the Mediterraneo Gazebo and the cocktail hour by the lake, and the reception in the tent. It is very apparent that the Westlake Village Inn is ill equipped to have multiple weddings in one evening. They were significantly under staffed and were unable to provide adequate help and failed miserably to fulfill their legal duties detailed in our contract.- Bartenders. The WVInn only provides 1 bartenders for your event (we had 250 people so that was not going to work). We bought the most expensive bar package and added some nice bottles to that. We expressed to the WVInn coordinator that the bar was one of the most important parts of our wedding and we did NOT want a line at the bar. We additionally added servers to the cocktail hour to pass around cocktails to alleviate the line at the bar. We added more bartenders so we would get drinks out to our guests in the first two hours while we were on package. The additional bar tenders we paid for were never provided. There were long lines at the bar. People could not get drinks at the cocktail hour because the bar line was so long. To make matters worse, they LIED TO MY DAD. The captain said that the extra bartender was walking around.- Valet Parking. According to the wedding program valet parking is included (and if it wasn't we would have included it in our package since I have never been to a wedding where I had to pay for my own valet.) However, MANY of our guests were charged for valet. Some of our guests did not have cash and had to go park down the street. How embarrassing.- Room for the Bridge and Groom after the ceremony (+ bathroom). I spoke many times to the onsite coordinator about a room for my husband and I after the ceremony to fulfill the Jewish tradition of Yichud. I even spoke with the onsite coordinator the day before at the rehearsal about it and she assured me the room next to the ceremony site with a bathroom would be available for our use after the ceremony and during the reception. Not only was this room closed after the ceremony and we had nowhere to go (so we had to walk through the kitchen in my dress) but it was closed all night which ruined my dress - which is what we were trying to avoid.- Bathroom for guests. We hired bathroom attendants for the entire evening to monitor the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Not only did these attendants leave way before our reception ended, the bathrooms were a mess and the water stopped working! It is extremely embarrassing to have your guests approach you to tell you in the middle of your wedding that the bathrooms for the tent (glorified porta potties) are disgusting and they spent 20 minutes searching for another bathroom.- Noise Complaints. BEWARE. The TENT does not provide adequate sound barriers and our outside coordinator had to deal with countless calls from the Police regarding noise complaints (which is not her job and should of been done by the Westlake village inn). There are many more failures on the part of WVI that I have not mentioned above but these were the most significant, embarrassing, and a breach of their contractual duties. They have no remorse for the actions they took that greatly affected our evening, and my family's reputation. Reviewed on 29-08-2016

Jeannie Reed, the catering manager, was great to work with. She replied to all of my emails and phone calls promptly and was willing to go the extra mile to make things work for us as this was a destination wedding and we were planning from a distance. When we did have a meeting face-to-face, she was very pleasant, professional, highly organized and accommodating. Although we didn't get to taste any food ahead of time, EVERYTHING from appetizers to dessert was excellent! The service, including bartender, event captain and servers were timely, very friendly but unobtrusive. The setting was amazing, looking out onto the lake and we were able to use the adjoining patio for cocktail hour as it wasn't booked. It was easy to park, easy to find and the food was incredible!\r\rWe used the venue coordinator for \"day of\" support. She really came through for us on the day of our wedding. Please note that she is not a full service wedding coordinator and will work in collaboration with you or your outside coordinator. Her services really only begin as the wedding gets closer. \r\rThe only drawback we had was the waitstaff service and the bartender at the end of the evening. We had a smaller wedding party (25 people) on a weeknight. The bartender was pretty rude to some of our guests and family as the night went on, making it clear that he didn't want to be there and didn't want to deal with us. It was the only complaint our wedding guests had of the entire affair! From my perspective the waitstaff for dinner was accommodating and lovely, though again, around 11:30 they told my mother that she would need to clean up the dinner area and clear all decorations out no later than midnight. This was ridiculous as my family (and myself...the bride) were cleaning up the room so the waitstaff could leave. I was under the impression we had the space until midnight and our vendors could come in later to clean up. With the high price we paid to use the space, it felt that they could have let us clean up at midnight instead of thirty-minutes prior.\r\rOther than that though, I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful day! The set up was great (indoors/outdoors) and our buffet dinner was delicious. After the wedding, some of us went to Bogies for an after party and that was fun too. We had our ceremony at the Mediterranean Gazebo which had tall roman columns, a view of the lake and fountain, and lots of trees and colorful flowers -- so much natural ambiance that we didn't need many flowers from the florist for the ceremony. We used the elegant Provence Room with chandeliers, a two tier room (good for dancing), and a view again to the lake. We also used the wine cellar room for our Rehearsal Dinner. Our guests loved being together at the hotel and there are places for them to eat and find one another throughout the weekend. \r\rThe cost is reasonable for all that you receive and there are a few ways to help make the budget manageable -- you don't need to opt for special chairs or plates, you can do a buffet style dinner, and opt for \"by consumption\" wine/beer rather than unlimited or hard liquor or many of the \"extras\" here. The place speaks for itself and in this peaceful environment the guests will really enjoy themselves! Reviewed on 27-05-2014
Michele Rodway(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2013 The team at Westlake Village Inn was great and the venue was perfect for our outdoor fall ceremony. The reception was indoors which was nice since it got cooler at night. I recommend going with their coordinator since they know the venue so well. One thing to note - the bride and groom get a free courtyard room which you can upgrade but check in is at 3pm so if you are having the hair and makeup done at the hotel make sure you book two nights. The venue is also gourgeous in photos. Reviewed on 30-10-2013

Our catering director was amazing although others were not.y photographer and I were asked by another caterer to move because another bride was on the property and could see us. I mean so what? It was very offensive the way we were treated by the other wedding on the property. Also the Westlake village inn doesn't care you are spending thousands at their hotel. Heather Member(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-07-2013 We had our rehearsal dinner at the wine barrel room and guest accommodations. The hotel and catering staff are all friendly and nice.\r\rWine Barrel Room: great ambiance right off the lake with intimate dinning, beautiful entrance, and small balconies lakeside. This was the perfect place for our dinner hosting roughly 22 guests. The food was excellent and the dinning staff was extremely attentive even helping my mom carry party gifts from her car. The price is also very reasonable and already is inclusive of the room, tables, linens, etc.\r\rAccommodations: we stayed in one of the suites which was fabulous with a fireplace, huge bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, and a balcony over looking the gardens. They give you a tour of all the rooms before booking a hotel block so you can easily see the quality of even the general guest rooms which were nice and reasonably priced too. It was also a great spot only being 8 miles from our venue at Saddlerock Ranch. The hotel itself is also beautiful with streams and flowers.\r\rI highly recommend you book either for your big day as you and your guests will not be disappointed! Reviewed on 04-08-2013

Jessica Bringelson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-03-2012 I got married at the Westlake Village Inn in March and everything was great! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, which is the main reason we picked it in the first place. But above that, the hospitality made the night amazing. The service staff they have were the best I have experienced. The food service was fast, they kept drinks refilled and everytime something spilled, they were out there to clean it instantly so no one would get hurt. The coordinating staff did a good job as well at putting timelines together with me, setting everything up in the places I wanted them and making sure things ran smoothly.\rThey say the ballroom holds 200, but beware if you have more than 150 people, the patio for cocktail hour is PACKED!!! So since we had 160, some people never saw the appetizer servers coming around because they couldn't get through.\rBut other than that, the site is beautiful and lends to some great pictures, the staff is great and everything came together to make my day perfect! Everything was perfect - the decor, the wait staff, the grounds. The actual hotel staff could use some improving - the front desk staff can get a little snippy. And the room us girls all used to get ready was going to be our suite for the wedding night. The front desk told us to let them know when we were leaving the room for the wedding and they would come in, change the sheets, clean and make it all romantic for our night. Well....they didn't. The garbage cans were still overflowing, the bed hadn't been changed or made and the bathroom towels were all over the place. \rThat being said, as far as a location to have your wedding....I HIGHLY recommend the WVI. Mike Nicholas(groom)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-03-2011 They call themselves LA's best kept wedding secret, and I have to say that they are not exaggerating...Westlake Village Inn is one of the most beautiful, serene, and accomodating places we have ever seen! Located off the 101, it's a surprisingly secluded venue just 45 minutes from Santa Monica. We had a beautiful wedding, and an amazing time there. The grounds are lush and green (even at the tail end of winter), the hotel rooms are big and quite luxurious, and the staff is incredible! My wife and I looked at roughly 15 different wedding venues (mostly from the Knot and mostly in the $$$ price range) and this was by FAR the nicest place for the cost. \rNow, the only negatives: \r-Although you get a great amount of luxury for your money, it's not cheap, as most dinner packages will cost you about $100/head if you have any sort of alcohol served. We had an open bar for cocktail hour and then a hosted bar for the rest of the night, and it was not cheap. Expect to pay about $12/head for just that first hour.\rThe 2nd negative, and it cost them a star off my rating, was the bridal suite was not made up for our wedding night...that sounds terrible in writing, but once the staff was notified they sent us some champagne, roses, and gave us a 50% discount for the night. \rIt was still a beautiful day and wonderful wedding, and I'd recommend them to whoever was even considering getting married there. The ceremony locations were also gorgeous, and I thoroughly enjoyed their mini suite in the hotel room.
