Whippoorwill Hill is a hidden treasure 6 miles from downtown Bloomington, Indiana. The historically designated property includes a stunning 300 person capacity, timber frame wedding barn originally constructed in 1892, and a farm house and barn built in the 1820s. The working farm is completely secluded and is the perfect location for any event from intimate ceremonies, to barn parties, to romantic receptions.

The venue was the perfect place for our November wedding. Anne put me at ease with her open and consistent communication. All of our guests were amazed with how beautiful the barn was. It was absolutely beautiful and we wouldn’t change a thing! 10/10 recommend!

We LOVED having our wedding at Whippoorwill Hill. Our wedding was in October and the setting was absolutely gorgeous with the fall leaves. The new pergola made a beautiful outdoor ceremony and guests kept raving about the beauty of the barn inside for the reception as well. Anne was so communicative from the very beginning and the whole day was well organized. Not to mention it is an affordable venue in the area and not far from many hotels for guests to stay at. Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a venue that cares about creating the day you have been dreaming of, you have found the right place. We kept our decorations fairly minimal because Whippoorwill Hill provides so much beauty on its own, but they have a large selection of decor that is included for your use. The staff will work with you to ensure everything is set up to your liking, and Anne is exceptionally communicative. The open barn days they host are great for visualizing and planning, and I like that they have the staff at these events alongside local vendors to help make your wedding planning a lot easier - well before your event date. I can tell that it's not just about having a venue for this crew; it's about creating the ultimate experience for your event. From the event chairs to the available decor to the country charm to the historic barn in a southern Indiana landscape...I honestly cannot stop gushing about this beautiful farm.

Whippoorwill Hill is a beautiful venue. Anne is excellent at communication and also has attention to detail so that she makes sure you are happy on your wedding day. There are staff at the venue all day on your wedding day who are also incredibly helpful.

Our wedding day was amazing and could not have gone better. When I showed up to set up the morning of, the weather had turned cold but the staff on site was quick to jump in and assist with heaters to get the temp up well before guests were to arrive that afternoon. Whippoorwill was great with answering questions and assisting with table & set up. We had reached out to many chair vendors but Whippoorwill acquired chairs that they would then rent out as well which made using them as our chair vendor such a seamless process. The Chairs were perfect for the setting. The many decorations that the venue has to offer paired perfectly with the setup we were looking for. From the open barn, beautiful ceremony space to the huge pasture that the kids were able to run and play in during the reception we could not have picked a better venue for our wedding. I would highly recommend Whippoorwill Hill for anyone looking to tie the knot.

Whippoorwill Hill is absolutely beautiful and has the most wonderful staff. Anne is extremely communicative and helpful and made sure things went as smoothly as possible for us. In addition, the staff day of were so amazing! Some of the perks I specifically enjoyed about this venue is how they provide a gigantic amount of decor that is included in the price of renting the venue. I also appreciated the \"open barn\" dates they offer so I could visit a second time to finish planning everything out! This venue also offers extra perks (for an additional charge) such as a PA system, golf cart, cleanup, etc. The one \"drawback\" to keep in mind with this venue is there is not a full bridal suite unless you rent the Airbnb they have on-site, but this did not negatively impact me at all as I easily planned around it (just something important to know for planning purposes). Overall, I genuinely could not have been happier with this venue and the staff and felt like everything was as close to perfect as possible!

This venue was incredibly professional and flexible. They worked with us to make our day perfect! They responded very quickly to every email even when it wasn’t business hours or days. The staff was incredibly helpful! The venue is absolutely gorgeous especially with the brand new pergola! My only critique is the lack of bridal suites. They have a very rustic cabin, but isn’t renovated yet, so it’s not suitable for getting ready. Therefore, it is definitely tricky to figure out getting ready locations for pictures, as well as coordinating where the groom/groomsmen & bride/bridesmaids would be at what time to prevent overlap since we weren’t doing a first look. They have an Airbnb called the Sanders store, but it is extremely overpriced in my opinion especially since you’d probably need it for 2 days because of the check in and check out times. However, we were able to figure it out, so it is doable! The staff was very helpful with that too. I think if they were to add bridal suites for both the bride and groom (included in price) then this would literally be the perfect venue!

With my friends getting married soon they have all commented on the ease of having decorations on site and not spending $1000s on decorations to try and resell later on Facebook Marketplace. They have all you need and the venue barely even needs decorations. the natural beauty during the day and then the sparkle lights at night. The small things that you do not have to worry about that make your day easier and better. You will NOT regret booking this amazing venue.

Wow, Whippoorwill Hill was fantastic! I absolutely loved working with Anne and her family! They are good people and you can tell they genuinely care about their clients! They do the \"little things\" that go a long way! They made the wedding planning process much better and I would 100% recommend working with them! Annnnd they have a beautiful venue that can accommodate indoor or outdoor settings! Plus, it was SO nice that they provide chairs, tables, and have a décor inventory that can be used! We had our wedding there and Whippoorwill along with the staff just go above and beyond to make your event so special! Michael and I's wedding day was absolutely PERFECT! All the guests were comfortable and loved the beautiful property. Everyone was so helpful in the process. Anne and the team are so great to work with. I can't say enough great things about the property and the staff! Our wedding day happened without anything going wrong. We used the outside overhang/patio and never had to worry about the possibility of rain.

Just had my wedding at whippoorwill and it was a lovely experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The space was clean, set up just how we asked, and the landscaping framed our photos beautifully. Some of the best pictures we got were from guests taking shots of the dance floor from the upper balcony. We rented the golf cart for a little extra and it allowed us to get bride and groom photos in multiple locations on the property during the cocktail hour. Would highly recommend this venue for anyone interested in a barn aesthetic.

We had an amazing wedding at Whippoorwill Hill! When we first met Anne and saw the space we knew it was the place. Not only is the venue barn elegant and classic, but the rest of the property is stunning. The historical aspect of the place is just icing on the cake for us (my family loves old restored buildings). For our wedding we wanted something that was both elegant and classic but also had plenty of beautiful places for pictures. This was the place. The space can truly be made to fit any theme. We utilized the entire venue from the fields, the pole barn, the 1822 house, and even the woods. In fact, when we said we wanted to have our wedding in the woods, Anne said “no problem” and helped us make it happen by spending a day cleaning the area and the entire walk to the spot. When I said I wanted to bring my horse to the venue for the wedding she said “of course! What time will she be here?”. They truly made it a dream come true. Lastly, the venue coordinator (sorry don’t have her name), made the day of run so smoothly. When she met my elderly grandfather she helped him with everything he needed and even said “my job is to take care of you”. That was just going above and beyond and meant the world to me. My grandpa just couldn’t stop talking about her and what a great help she was. I would have a wedding here again in the heartbeat. Nothing could have been better about the owner, workers, venue, or anything.

We had an amazing wedding at Whippoorwill Hill! When we first met Anne and saw the space we knew it was the place. Not only is the venue barn elegant and classic, but the rest of the property is stunning. The historical aspect of the place is just icing on the cake for us (my family loves old restored buildings). This venue was everything I dreamed it would be for my special day. They were completely understand and very helpful with all my questions/ concerns. The barn itself is so beautiful and has a really great airflow with all the barn doors open. We had a mid July wedding and while it was definitely warm it wasn’t near as hot as we expected. The air conditioned entry/bathroom/kitchen spaces was great to have for some of our guests to chill when they needed to cool off. The grounds the venue sits on are very well kept and so beautiful. It gave us many options for photos. We booked the venue for two full days so that we could decorate and set up the day before as well as hot our rehearsal dinner there. I would highly suggest this if you are wanting to decorate the venue yourself. It was also very well priced compared to other venues in the area. We booked the venue about a year and a half in advance and had great communication with Anne all the way leading up to the wedding. We could not of picked a better place to create our special day!

We visited a couple different venues when we first started planning, but when we visited Whippoorwill Hill we knew we didn’t need to look any further. The venue is gorgeous! Additionally, we loved that there were so many decorations included. Anne and the staff are great at what they do. There was constant communication and they truly made wedding planning easier. We are so happy we chose Whippoorwill Hill and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

We visited a couple different venues when we first started planning, but when we visited Whippoorwill Hill we knew we didn’t need to look any further. The venue is gorgeous! Additionally, we loved that there were so many decorations included. Anne and the staff are great at what they do. There was constant communication and they truly made wedding planning easier. We are so happy we chose Whippoorwill Hill and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

We had our ceremony under the covered porch, the cocktail hour on the other covered porch, and the reception on the inside. we were able to keep the barn doors open during the reception so guests felt more comfortable given the pandemic and air circulation. We did our first look at the cute little white barn right next to the venue which was super cute but also convenient. Anne (the venue owner) was SO great to work with- she answered all of my questions and gave me many great tips to make the day flawless. I was able to save some money on decorations by using some of the hurricanes and decor at the venue. Overall - there is really not one thing i would change about our wedding day and experience with whippoorwill hill. AMAZING!

Where do I begin!!So my dad grew up on this farm, and so did I. I watched my dad tend to this farm from the passenger seat of his old blue Chevy. With gold fish crackers and my sippy cup. Year after year I came back to sit and watch him and Bill Tatum care for this farm. When Bill passed and new owners of the farm came, I heard a new barn was going up on the land. At the time me and my husband were just dating. Then that New Year’s Eve he proposed! One of the first things I planning is finding your venue! And I knew exactly where I wanted to marry my best friend. At the beautiful farm where I grew up. And that’s exactly what I did. A year and 10 months of planning came and went. On a hot October day, I had my dream wedding, marrying the love of my life, on the breathtaking farm I know and love. I had my first look with my dad at the old red barn where I used to sit and watch him work. It has came so far since the beginning and Bill would be so proud. The interior of the barn is gorgeous and the farm is breathtaking. Our wedding photos are so gorgeous with the beautiful backdrops that the farm's natural beauty provides! The location is perfect; close enough to town that it's not an inconvenient drive but nestled enough out of the way that you feel completely secluded and surrounded by nature while you're there. I am so glad that we chose Whippoorwill Hill for our wedding and I am excited to see this relatively new venue become one of Bloomington's go-to wedding locations!

The barn is absolutely stunning and is secluded so that your event is just you and your party, no outside \"busy\" noise. Anne, one of the venue's owners/operators, was very responsive and SO helpful during the year long duration between us booking Whippoorwill and the day of our wedding. She helped us with everything from suggesting vendors to planning the layout of the barn for the day of. She and her family are truly an added bonus with this venue. Something my wife and I considered before booking any vendor for the wedding is how easy they would be to work with - with Whippoorwill, you hit it out of the park! We had a gorgeous venue and an amazingly beautiful wedding and truly feel like we have made lifelong friends with the owners, as well. If you are looking for a barn wedding in the Indy area, Whippoorwill Hill is absolutely one that you should look into! Great venue, great people, great choice!

When my now wife and I first started looking at venues for our wedding, Whippoorwill Hill was one of the first ones we chose to look at. The barn is absolutely stunning and is secluded so that your event is just you and your party, no outside \"busy\" noise. We had our wedding at Whippoorwill this past Saturday. We cannot say enough great things about this place and those that run it! Jeff and Anne were fantastic to work with and Anne answered every one of my ridiculous questions very promptly! Tammy, the venue coordinator, was also great! She met us at the venue multiple times and let us do whatever we needed! The venue itself is GORGEOUS! We had our ceremony right outside the barn and it was perfect. The reception was held in the barn and minimal decorating was even needed due to how naturally pretty the venue already is! We HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone planning a bloomington wedding. We might be biased now, but it’s the best there is! 5 STARS!

There are no words to describe the beauty of this place! I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. A beautiful venue in a peaceful, picturesque setting. Love it! And Jeff and Anne are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Always kind and helpful. Always willing to share their ideas and their time. They treated us like we were family. Love these two! We were married here a couple of weeks ago. The wonderful thing about this venue is it has that nice secluded elegant yet rustic feel, but it is also only about 15 minutes away from Downtown Bloomington. It fit the best of both worlds. Whippoorwill offers packages for 1, 2, and 3 day rentals to handle any type of event. We ended up renting the Barn for Friday and Saturday to help simplify the amount of setup the day of, which was very helpful. The cost for these 2 days at Whippoorwill Hill was still less than the cost of 1 day as most other venues! The only complaint we had is that we were responsible for cleaning up the venue the same night as our wedding. This involved wiping down all the tables and mopping the whole floor, despite the fact that there were no noticeable spills. More importantly, we were not told the details of what was expected of us until a few days before our big day. We’ve spoken to Anne about this and she said she’s taking steps to avoid this issue in the future. Overall, we had a wonderful wedding and we highly recommend Whippoorwill Hill for any event!

Meet the Whippoorwill Hill Team
Jeff and Anne Lucas (Owner) Jeff and Anne bought the historic farm in 2015 and were married on the property in 2016. They moved the wedding barn from Shelbyville, Indiana in 2016 and built Whippoorwill Hill with the help of their 6 year old son and families. Jeff and Anne continue to build their farm and venue around adoration of their farmland, respect of the historic buildings on site, deep love of family and the song Deeper Than the Holler by Randy Travis. Whippoorwill Hill is truly a working family farm, home to 40 head of cattle and one barn cat named Sully.
