If you are looking for a beautiful nature-forward spot for your wedding, this is your venue! While the photos available online are pretty, they donât capture half of the beauty that this venue offers.I am writing this review the day after my wedding because I wanted to share my amazing experience as soon as possible. Letâs start with the physical space.The venue offers three large, picturesque ponds that provide some great fishing for anyone who would like to. The ceremony space is a lovely clearing in the woods that offers light filtered through mature pine trees. It was gorgeous! There are a total of three buildings available to us during our weekend: the reception venue, the building to get ready in, and the chalet. I stayed in the chalet that Whispering Woods offers the night before the wedding. My bridal party loved being able to spend the night in such a comfortable cabin, and it was plenty big enough to fit everyone. We even decided to get ready and take pictures in this building. The groomâs party got ready in the main preparation building that WW offers. There was plenty of space and great lighting. The reception hall is stunning! The large windows let in some beautiful light and scenery. They also had a plethora of decorations that I was able to use, which meant that I didnât have to buy as much. It all came together to create a romantic, relaxed vibe. The best part is that Bear and his wife handled all of the cleanup. All I had to do was grab the decorations and leftovers that I wanted to keep. I loved it!As far as customer service, I am so grateful for Bear and his wife. Not only were they both available via email, text, and phone during the year and a half leading up to the wedding, but they were also completely hands-on during our big weekend. Our hotel room was unexpectedly canceled without our knowledge on the morning of our wedding (Yes, that really happened.), and the groom and I were able to stay in the chalet with no notice to Bear or his wife. They even made sure we had fresh bedding, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. They treated us like family, not clients that were simply booked at their property.I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Whispering Woods. Visit this venue and see the beauty for yourself!

Truly a breathtaking, dream venue. Whispering Woods Events had everything we wanted, nay dreamed of and more. Outside of the stunning property and scenery, the owners are truly sweet and genuine people. They answered every question, made sure they could help in any way needed, let us use anything they had for decorations or on the property, and let us come see the property and anything they had available any time we needed to. They actually cared to give us the most stress-free, special day. We strongly recommend Whispering Woods to anyone and we hope to find any reason to go back in the future. Choosing Whispering Woods as our venue was one of the best decisions we made! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the flexibility to bring in whatever vendors we wanted helped us make the day exactly how we envisioned. And most of all, Bear and Kimber are wonderful! Hands down 10,000/10 would recommend Whispering Woods for your wedding. Bear and Kimber were SO helpful from start to finish. We live over an hour away from the venue and they accommodated the multiple visits we did of the property; they were prompt with all email responses; and helped make planning SO easy. They were so gracious, friendly and helpful all throughout our wedding weekend. There were so many options for where to hold the outdoor ceremony and endless options for decorating for our indoor reception. They are also dog friendly. Thank you, Bear and Kimber, for making our wedding weekend so special and one that we will remember forever.

Hands down 10,000/10 would recommend Whispering Woods for your wedding. Bear and Kimber were SO helpful from start to finish. The property is absolutely incredible and exceeded every single hope and dream I had for it, but Bear and Kimber are truly the ones who stole the show. Bear and Kimber own this gorgeous property and I donât think I have ever met anyone as kind hearted as these two. From letting me and my fiancĂ© come see the property countless times, to helping set up and answering/coordinating every single question to Kimber hiding me away on a golf cart before walking down the aisle calming every single nerve I had, these two are truly the best part of this venue. The venue rental is from Friday to Sunday which was not only a life savior for setting up, but also allowed us to host all of our guests for a very casual party the Friday before our wedding. We spent a few hours being able to actually talk and connect prior to our wedding day. Bear and Kimber stopped by to make sure all was well prior to the party and helped us unload and set everything up, then they stopped by after the party as well. The chalet on property is a helpful touch, me and my bridesmaids stayed the night prior to allow for a nice night of relaxing and then being on property early in the AM to start hair and makeup on the property as well! Theyâve really thought of it all. Thereâs plenty of spots on property for the ceremony and you walk through with them where you want the chairs set up, we picked the grove. From the minute me and my now husband saw it, we knew, this was it. They have a grove of trees with enough space to set up chairs and have the most picturesque ceremony, something I kept joking was straight out of a Taylor swift music video. The wedding hiccups on behalf of our DJ, Bear helped my DOC tackle with grace I had barely any ideas of anything happening until it was all said and done. A perfect day, with the most perfect location. Then! When we started cleaning up, I was panicked over my thousands of dollars of florals I was about to throw away when Kimber mentioned she personally takes all leftover florals to a nursing home to donate. Then she continues with ideas for anything that we wanted to leave behind, donât want to lug cases of water home(we sure didnât) sheâd help donate them to the local sports teams. Extra decorations, they have a full closet to help future brides, and trust me, I sure needed to borrow some last minute things from there! We saw over 20 venues when we were on the hunt for a space, and I feel so fortunate to find Whispering Woods. i know I will spend the rest of my days making sure I tell local future brides what a hidden gem this place is. The amount of our guests that complimented the space and mentioned theyâve never seen anything more beautiful has confirmed what we already knew. Bear and Kimber, thank you from the absolute bottoms of our heart, you exceeded any dream we had for the day!

We fell in love with Whispering Woods the moment we set foot in the venue the first time visiting. Itâs an absolutely beautiful property with lots of trees and ponds. Bear (the venue owner) was helpful and friendly throughout the whole process, we were able to visit a couple of times before the big day and he always responded promptly to communications. We had plenty of time to set up decor the day before as well as have the rehearsal dinner there that evening. Bear was out of town for a family gathering on our wedding weekend but he made sure all tables and chairs were set up for us. He had a trusted family friend running the venue that weekend and he took great care of us and helped with whatever we needed. The bridesmaids stayed in the chalet the night before and then on the wedding night my husband and I stayed. Chalet is very cozy, clean, extra linens and towels, and has a little kitchen we made breakfast in. Property has a getting ready suite, which was great for the girls, and a den above for the guys. Lots of different spots for great photos! Reception space had great lighting and windows with a lovelyview, also big barn doors we used to have a dessert truck pull up to. We had our ceremony in the corridor of trees and I swear it felt like I was in a fairytale crossing the bridge to meet my groom at the altar! We had our wedding here August 2023 and it was the most wonderful, magical day! If youâre thinking of having your wedding here, do it!!

My husband and I got married here in August and canât recommend this venue enough. Bear is very accommodating and worked with us throughout the process to make sure we had a great day. We visited multiple times to get measurements and take inventory of the reception area. They are very flexible! We held our rehearsal, ceremony and reception all on the property. We unfortunately had a rainy forecast the morning of the wedding and Bear was able to make my wish come true for an outdoor ceremony by setting up the chairs and altar last minute when it cleared up. It was also in a spot he never held it before! Their property is so beautiful with several spots to take photos & even areas to play yard games/relax outside. They also have a get ready suite which was very helpful with an early start for hair and make up. Very thankful for the flexibility and wonderful property to help us throw a great wedding. We couldnât have had the wedding we did without them, it was the perfect day.

This venue was everything we could of hoped for and more!! It was the first and only one we looked at and immediately knew it was the one. Bear and his wife are so helpful, attentive, flexible and do everything they can to make sure the day is perfect. We loved how they have a bridal/groom suite on site along with another very beautiful cabin and how no matter where you are on the property thereâs a TON of amazing photo ops! We had SO many compliments of how beautiful the location is.

We could not have chosen a better place to have our wedding. The Whispering Woods Is as magical as the pictures. Bear and his wife are hands-on the entire weekend and are there to make your day goes the way you imagine it to. I would definitely do it all over again at the Whispering Woods!

Whispering Woods was our perfect wedding venue. We were able to go view the property multiple times and Bear was very helpful with all of our questions, helping set up and take down, and our families and friends could not believe how beautiful the scenery was. We stayed in the cabin and would highly recommend. This venue allowed us to have the freedom on choosing our own vendors and create the wedding we wanted. We had the most beautiful wedding weekend and would highly recommend Whispering Woods!

My husband and I were married at Whispering Woods this past June. Having our wedding at Whispering Woods was, hands down, the best decision that we could have made! The beauty of the property speaks for itself â the land and buildings are meticulously kept, and the flexibility of having many acres at our disposal was something that we truly appreciated. There were countless backdrops for wedding party and family pictures, and simply spending the weekend on the property added to the magic of wedding time! Bear was extremely accommodating and warm from the start and allowed us to visit the property many times for planning purposes. Throughout the entire weekend of the wedding itself, Bear, Kimber, and the team were present to help us with the set up and tear-down, and made sure that we had everything that we needed in order for the event to run smoothly. I can not say enough how much we appreciate the dedication of the team at Whispering Woods, and we (and our wedding party) simply enjoyed their presence, as well! You will not find a better, more gorgeous venue, or better people to work with. My husband and I were married at Whispering Woods this past June. Having our wedding at Whispering Woods was, hands down, the best decision that we could have made! The beauty of the property speaks for itself â the land and buildings are meticulously kept, and the flexibility of having many acres at our disposal was something that we truly appreciated. There were countless backdrops for wedding party and family pictures, and simply spending the weekend on the property added to the magic of wedding time! Bear was extremely accommodating and warm from the start and allowed us to visit the property many times for planning purposes. Throughout the entire weekend of the wedding itself, Bear, Kimber, and the team were present to help us with the set up and tear-down, and made sure that we had everything that we needed in order for the event to run smoothly. I can not say enough how much we appreciate the dedication of the team at Whispering Woods, and we (and our wedding party) simply enjoyed their presence, as well! You will not find a better, more gorgeous venue, or better people to work with. We were also able to bring in our own vendors, and decorate to our heartsâ content, which allowed us to create the day and weekend of our dreams, truly. We happened across Whispering Woods as it is very literally down the road from our home, and went in for a tour. The property is amazing and we both had a feeling that this could be it. I went back a second time with my mom and sister, and decided we had to book. The property is 40 acres and feels as if someone plucked it from northern WI and dropped it in northern IL. There is the venue building itself which is big and rustic, and a blank slate for whatever you dream up. They also have a âget-readyâ building the girls (downstairs) and guys (upstairs) which was perfect for us. And lastly, they have this absolutely charming cabin you can rent, and we used it Saturday for a backdrop of me getting into my dress, and we stayed there Saturday night (super comfy bed!) They only rent the property out for one event per weekend, which meant I was able to be part of the entire process â getting everything set up, and decorated just how I wanted it â and itâs very private with just your guests for the entire weekend. Working with Whispering Woods was exactly what I wanted. Bear and Kimber (and Bearâs brother â although I didnât catch his name) are such friendly, genuine people, and are willing to work with you on whatever you need or want. They were there from setup on Friday, to takedown on late Saturday night. They offer their advice on whatâs worked for past events, but let you make the decision on how you want things to go. I received SO MANY compliments on the venue â people asking me âhow I found this place?!â and commenting on the beauty of the property (it really is breathtakingly peaceful). I even received comments on Bear â everyone was saying how friendly he was, and they really enjoyed his company. Itâs so hard to put how much this venue meant to me in to a review, but here are the highlights that made our experience with Bear and WW over the top: - They let us come out as much as we needed to, to show the property and plan. We also did our engagement photos here, and they were AMAZING. - They have a fully stocked decorations closet at your disposal. We did all our centerpieces with dĂ©cor they had on-site. They even have table numbers if you want them! - As it got dark on our wedding day, they brought out tiki-torches that really set an ambiance to the property. They also spray for bugs and for how wooded the property is, there was not one mosquito. - They help with the setup process, even unloading all the beer/drinks we brought, which made it that much easier. - They are such friendly nice people â we were there on a random day planning our centerpieces, and my niece was getting fussy and Bear offered to take her while we finished up. It was adorable haha. - Sunday morning, Bear stopped in at the cabin, told us how he thought everyone had a great time, and handed us back our security deposit right there. He has such a âfriendâ feeling like youâve known him for years. If youâre considering booking Whispering Woods for your big day â please do it. I promise you wonât regret it!!

They also have getting ready suites for both the ladies and guys on top of also having a cabin to stay in on your wedding night. We also used the cabin Friday night for all the girls to stay in and it was perfect. Bear and Kimber did such an amazing job setting up and taking down for our wedding. They made it so easy and stress free (which is huge!!) They also have an entire walk in closet of all sorts of decor you are able to use. We had our wedding there May 7 and it was perfect weather for a perfect venue! Price was good for 3 days worth of having the venue! You have to get all your own catering and vendors which was okay with me!I was happy that we not only had a place for the rehearsal but also the wedding ceremony and reception! The owner and his wife were absolutely amazing and so helpful!! They helped clean up at the end of the night which helped so much the next day! Which they also helped with too. He set up a fire for us in their Chalet for the night of and it was amazing. They have this closet full of decorations left from previous weddings which save us money and looked so good! Not only that they give left over food to their chickens and some times left over beverages to little league teams and long term care facilities. 10/10 RECOMMENDING!

There are breathtaking views around the property, the banquet hall is great with lots of options for decor, and our bridal party loved getting ready in the dressing room cabin- it was stocked with stuff and our hair/makeup artists loved all the room and mirrors. We were a very laid back couple, so we loved that with booking our date, we were able to have access to the venue for the whole weekend to make the set-up and tear down process way less stressful. Plus, Bear and his wife were SO helpful during everything, but especially during our tear-down process; we were so impressed that we were able to load all of our stuff up in about 10 minutes! I would recommend them to anyone, we got so many compliments!

If you want your wedding to be absolutely magical, do not look ANY further! Whispering Woods was without a doubt THE best wedding decision we made. Our wedding was on July 17th 2021. We knew we wanted an outdoor light and airy feel and this place is the only place we considered because it was perfect. Truly a fairytale. Bear, the owner, is not only professional but is personable and kind, answered all of my questions and let me visit a few times before our wedding. Bear and his wife, Kimber could not have been more accommodating, they were there the whole day to make sure that everything ran smoothly. The venue itself barely needs any decor at all. They have a closet full of decor that you are free to borrow and use for your wedding so the DIY aspect is amazing. There truly is not a single negative thing I can say about this place and although there are a couple of things I wish I could change about the day, the location is NOT one of them. I will be back every year just to visit :)

We utilized all aspects of this venue: cabin, reception hall, and bridal suite/man cave. Everything was so clean and ready to go when we got there. Bear helped us with setting up tables and Kimber assisted with clean up which overall made everything easier! When you rent Whispering Woods, you get the venue for the weekend which makes everything way less stressful. You are able to come and set up on Friday and then clean up on Sunday. With this, you are truly able to enjoy your special day. Our day went exceptionally perfect and we have Whispering Woods to thank for that! I would recommend Whispering Woods any day of the week and if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!

They make you feel at home and like you can create a wedding day just the way you want! The property is so beautiful and peaceful. Weather was great and ceremony location was just so perfect. I stayed the week of the wedding in the cabin and was able to start setting up early and explore the property. We were able to do fireworks and it was the perfect space for friends with kids to come, bring bikes, golf carts, etc. to have fun the day of. I am so happy we chose Whispering Woods. I cannot say enough great things about Whispering Woods and their WONDERFUL staff. The property speaks for its self. It is breathtaking. The pictures online do not do it justice at all, so I highly recommend taking an in person tour. Our wedding was months ago and I still continue receiving compliments on the venue and am always getting asked how we discovered it. It is truly a hidden treasure. You are given the entire weekend for your wedding to set up, rehearse, clean, etc. I loved this because you have so much time to get things ready and the venue is just dedicated to you for that weekend. One of the owners, Bear, was with us the entire weekend assisting in all that we needed. He gave suggestions, helped clean, set up all the tables and chair and SO much more. My favorite thing about whispering woods was that since you are really just paying for the use of property, you have free range to do anything you want. There are so packages and such that you have to choose from. We did all our own decor and there is even a closet FULL of decor that we had access to use. Oh, and wait until you see the bar. It is gorgeous!We could not have chosen a more perfect place to have our wedding. If you are thinking of booking, do it!

They let us use nails to hang things, they let us select our own vendors, they were SUPER CHILL the whole way through. They answered about 100 emails of mine. They let us come by several times before the event. And on the day of, it was raining, they let us make the call very late in the day to move the ceremony location. They let us pick different chairs for the event than they usually use. They are there on the day of the event as well, but they are never in the way and are just there to make the magic happen behind the scenes. They also take any leftover items from weddings and donate flowers to old folks homes, supplies to schools, and feed farm animals with leftover food. OVERALL SPECTACULAR HUMAN BEINGS to be around you on your wedding day. <32. The location is SO BEAUTIFUL, it's a photographer and videographers heaven! Water ways, bridges, willow trees, cool buildings, great views!3. There is a chalet where you can stay overnight and get ready.4. There is a separate cabin to get ready in with a full powder room with lights, mirrors, fridge, table, dressing room...the whole nine. They missed no details. It is absolutely perfect and where my bridal party and I got ready. 5. The supply room. THIS IS MAGICAL and saves SO MUCH MONEY! There is an entire room available to you for your full use and it is FULL of decor, supplies, vases, candles, lanterns, signage, stands, table numbers, etc. I barely had to spend any money on decor because they had it all there. This is a wedding planner's dream!Overall, this venue is an absolute dream come true. We are so lucky to have had our big day here. Also, we got to start setting everything up early the day before the wedding so not a lot had to be done the day of and they have a lot of cute decorations already there to choose from which saved us a lot of money. Overall, we had a great expereince and we are really happy we chose Whispering Woods!

The owners are so attentive and willing to help, just what every bride needs. The land is so beautiful, even swans joined us during set up. The main hall and chalet have such charm and speak for themselves. A few things I loved about Whispering Woods is that you get the space for the whole weekend, making set up and tear down a breeze. First, Whispering Woods - The venue is gorgeous, with natural beauty and nature all around. Amazing opportunities for photography and creative planning. The newly constructed building is two stories with the downstairs an area for the Bride and Bridesmaids to get ready that looks like a salon, and the upstairs a mancave for the guys to enjoy, get ready, eat, and play games. The cottage is picturesque and an amazing spot to relax and enjoy a few beers with the boys. Second, Bear and his family - My wife and I could not have asked for a better partnership to plan our wedding. Excellent communication, friendly, respectful, courteous, and committed to making our day the most special. With the help of Bear, we were able to make the best of a difficult situation with COVID-19. Whispering woods is the perfect wedding venue! Itâs absolutely beautiful with multiple options for an outdoor ceremony and you wonât have problems finding amazing locations for photos! Near the peaceful ponds, across the beautiful bridge or within the whimsical clearing of the pines.We were able to bring in all our own vendors - food, liquor and staff. Unlike the other venues we toured that offered âwedding packagesâ that made us feel like we were paying for services we didnât want, whispering woods allows you to build the wedding YOU want! They have a cozy cabin right on site available to rent, which was super convenient for the bridal party to spend the night the night before and get ready in the day of. I loved this!!! In between doing hair and make up we could walk over to the venue to add list minute touches. The cabin has one bed and a couch, but itâs large enough to easily sleep many more! ( I had 9 bridesmaids, and 11 girls slept in this cabin!!! And 15 girls got ready!) plenty of room for cots and queen size mattress without being cramped!The cabin for the reception has rustic chic vibe, which you can decorate however youâd like. There are also plenty of decorations at the venue you can choose from. There are large bay windows viewing the scenic pods and barn doors that can be opened up on a cool night. The bar area is huge! Plenty of room for appetizers and cocktail tables and still have room for decorative tables (gifts, guest book, seating chart, I even had other tables for sparklers and a heaven table.) Also, there is a spacious area for entertaining outside! With picnic tables, room for games, and trough coolers. Even if it rains (which it did in the evening of our wedding) there is a decently sized over hang above the picnic tables so you can still enjoy the outdoors. Itâs also well lit with tiki torches and white lights, even at night this place is dreamy :) BUGS you ask?!?! Iâm being 100% honest when I say I DIDNT GET ONE BUG BITE! They spray for misquotes and do a damn good job! Lastly, the owners are extremely kind and helpful! They were super easy going, which made it easy to express my concerns. They continuously answered my many many questions throughout the planning process and allowed me to come to the venue on multiple occasions - showing the venue to our parents, friends, photographer, and other vendors. The day of they helped things run smoothly! Going above and beyond to assist, they even drove a friend to the train station on Sunday after clean up!!! We also had lots of left over flowers and they brought them to a near by nursing home (this shows how thoughtful they are)! Overall, they were wonderful people, with large hearts, who are willing to help in anyway possible to make your dream wedding happen. We are so grateful we were able to have our wedding celebration at whispering woods! It was everything we could ever ask for and more.

We could not ask for a better day or a better venue. The owners were very accommodating and were there all the time for your needs. However they were behind the scene and never in your way. To have the place for 4 days for the same cost as many other places made life much easier for setup and tear down. The owners do a great job of taking care of the grounds and making you feel welcomed at all times. The wedding sites that are available for an outdoor ceremony are endless and gorgeous. The reception hall is heated or cooled and this was important for a wedding that took place during the hottest weekend of the year. The building although not being a barn had a great rustic feeling and worked to accommodate our 150 guest easily without being over crowded and could of had more people. The only problem we had was 10 minutes before the wedding the skies opened up and just let the rain come down I buckets. Again the owners were very accommodating as they constantly checked to see what we wanted to do and did they need to reset up the chairs inside. Lucky the rain stopped after an hour dropped the temperature by over 20 degrees and the owners went and dried every single chair setup at the wedding site. Just to comment again with all the property and ponds you have hundreds of choices as to where to hold that special ceremony and remember it forever. The other great part about whispering woods you do not have to rent table or chairs and the owners have so many decorations for you to use at no extra cost. We used many of these especially the log slabs that each of our centerpieces set on. The bar area being separated wit the bathrooms is very convenient without taking up room but still keeping guest close at hand. This works well for you to do cocktails and appetizers and still keeping the area closed for the reception while you are out taking advantage of all those wedding photo opportunities on the expansive grounds. Even though the owners do not live on the grounds when we needed to take a look or need to get on the property to setup the owners were always there or could be there in under 15 minutes. The owners also are open to whatever type of food or drinks you want to have at your event. We had a pig roast with all the sides and it was perfect. Also to have can beer instead of a keg and a horse water trough available to put this in reminds me of the days on the farm. Also the conscience of having an industrial ice cooler right outside the bar allowed for guest to purchase ice and not worry about it melting and readily available. The owners consistently reminded us that you be you and do what suits you for your event they are just here to manage your request. They have plenty of table and chairs available for any size. If you are looking for an outdoor venue that you will never forget whispering woods is the best and most accommodating place I have ever dealt with no matter the size of the party. Take advantage of the chalet right on property we rented it on Friday and Saturday and were able to hold a cookout for the rehearsal dinner, Saturday morning the girls were able to use it all morning to get ready and then the bride and groom only had to go a few hundred yards after the wedding to enjoy their wedding night without driving anywhere. Do not delay book whispering woods right away you will never forget the experience or the outstanding owners making of your day the best ever.

We even began contacting djs photographers, caters in the area. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until my Dad went to put the deposit down of 1,700 and found out they don't accept credit cards. Not only do most people not have that much cash up front but what happens if they sell the property or any thing else happens. Just seems weird for a wedding venue to not take creditcards.

They'll work with you on anything you want their help with, they let you come to the venue multiple times to view it, and they have a closet of items for you to use! Plus you get the venue from Thursday to Sunday at noon and it is so helpful to have that extra time to set up. I seriously can not thank them enough or recommend them more đ€

Whispering Woods is the perfect venue! Bear is more than accommodating and easy to work with. He and his family helped make my wedding dreams come true. They'll work with you on anything you want their help with, they let you come to the venue multiple times to view it, and they have a closet of items for you to use! Meet the Whispering Woods Events Team
Barry Nichols (Bear) and my dog Beaux (Owner) My brother (Jim) and I are farmers, and purchased this property for the cropland in 2012. The buildings and ponds came with the deal, and quite frankly we didn't know what to do with them, until the idea came to start a wedding/event venue.... so for Jim, and I, and my wife Kimber, it's a good fit, as we love to meet new people and talk/tell stories. We are here as sounding boards for ideas, and do everything possible to make dreams come true. Couples, their families and friends show up as strangers on Friday, and by Sunday morning we are saying goodbye to new friends.
