We held our wedding, rehearsal dinner and welcome party all on-site at Wild Dunes. It was the most magical weekend and our guests loved that everything was within walking distance and easily accessible. We cannot recommend working with their team, especially Bailey, who made our wedding feel stress and hassle-free. She was extremely responsive and flexible! We also had a lot of out-of-town guests who flew in, and the location was close enough to get to that we didn't have to furnish transportation from the airport. We originally booked the North Croquet Lawn for our ceremony and reception, but ended up making a last minute call morning of move it to the Indigo rooftop since the forecast was looking iffy on rain (and it ended up thunder storming that evening!) This wasn't an issue at all, and by the way it all turned out, you would have thought we planned to have it there the whole time. It was absolutely beautiful and their staff was extremely helpful and proficient. They made sure we got hors d'oeuvres, cake and drinks throughout the night while we were busy mingling. If you're looking for a full wedding weekend on the beach vibe, this is THE place to be. Reviewed on 11-05-2023

Nadia H(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-05-2022 We went under contract with Wild Dunes for the Sweetgrass Inn Indigo Room & Rooftop before the venue was even built. The venue turned out beautifully (both ballroom and terrace), and looked just like the mock up photos. Unfortunately after some trial and error, Wild Dunes realized the capacity of the ballroom was a bit less than advertised. Wild Dunes, and specifically Samantha Ellyn (who was not working at Wild Dunes when we initially went under contract), went above and beyond to come up with options and solutions. Samantha is extremely detailed and organized and helped us every step of the way, including on the wedding day. She made she we were happy with every little detail, from linen colors to food to table placement. She also stepped up significantly on the wedding day when our wedding planner dropped the ball. Wild Dunes and Samantha have our highest recommendation. The food was excellent, the service was top notch, and the venue is spectacular (especially the views)! Reviewed on 02-09-2022
Katherine Wood(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-06-2022 We had a great experience with the Wild Dunes! I would definitely book my wedding there again if I was going to do it all over. It was a destination wedding for us, so everyone came from out of town. Everyone who worked at the resort was so nice and considerate. The person that checked us in our first day even remembered us and said hi to us every time she saw us in the lobby and ask how everything was. The staff was willing to direct people where they needed to go, help us with anything we needed, and so many staff members offered to help us and said congratulations when I was walking around in my wedding dress.-We held a welcome reception on the North Lawn. It was gorgeous with string lights, delicious food (we did the sports bar and doing the charleston) and our own cocktail drink they designed for us. The team handled everything with the set up and it was really easy to just show up and spend our time with our guests instead of worrying about the details of the party. It was perfect.-For our wedding we did a brunch wedding at the Indigo Room and Rooftop. It was beautiful and we needed very little decor because of how nice of a space it was. All of the food was delicious. We also did our station as a waffle station. All of our family kept raving about how great the food was. Someone from Wild Dunes even came out and talked with me when I was waiting to go in to where everyone was lined us (so that the groom didn't see me). The catering team at Wild Dunes (we worked with Samantha) was so helpful and straightforward. I really appreciated that they listened to what we wanted and didn't act like salesmen, but just wanted to bring to life what we hoped for.Everyone at our wedding was so happy with how it turned out and our family will definitely be back to Wild Dunes! Karina DiPippo(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2022 Samantha Ellyn was our direct contact. Her communication was GREAT and all my questions were answered. Sam and I worked well together and finalized everything in the E.O (Event Order)Execution & Safety is where our Wedding Day fell extremely short. First of our Day-of problems, We had our guests arrive through the rooftop bar go through the terrace to the ceremony space. When I arrived to line up, people were being directed through the reception space, missing the decor & seeing me prior to walking down the aisle. They had locked the doors with chain locks until I got there and fussed. The AC was broken & we were sweating until about 9:30pm.Service- Cocktail hour FOOD was fantastic. Our guests LOVED it and the view was to die for. We had arranged for a bourbon bar set up with smoked drinks. Bartender didn't know what he was doing. This was the grooms non-negotiable for booking. RECEPTION- Our EO stated that our cocktail hour items would be at our SH table. They were not. We noticed a lack of professionalism & attire of the staff. They were mismatched, untucked & looked out of sorts. We only found out after we met with the Events Dir. they had 7 people call out & had to call in a staffing company. The inside bar didnt have the upgraded Wine we had paid for. Cake- We chose the Cookie Dough flavor with edible pieces. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE GOT. We got vanilla cake w/ vanilla frosting. Also, we were sent home with another couple's top tier. The cake was to accompany coffee and tea service. The staff cut the cake & left it for my guests to go pick up from a serving tray. Coffee & tea was not served. Not a waiter in sight. They had been relieved to go help the larger wedding downstairs.Late-night bites. They were to be served but were left on a table with to-go containers for guests. We did not receive all the items we contracted either. Wedding Crashers- My bridal party had to escort them out as they had come up to me multiple times, tried to take photos, stepped on my dress, drank alcohol and ate food. They were found bragging the next day upon check out. There were several noise complaints that evening. The 6th floor venue is not well soundproofed. This was not our problem as we obliged by noise ordinance regulations & the rules set forth by the resort. I went to use the restroom & saw a police officer outside the reception room. I asked if everything was ok & she said that she was just patrolling. Next, 4 police officers standing inside our reception attracting everyone’s attention. RUINING OUR NIGHT. A guest called them since the Resort had not resolved her issue & proceeded to take matters into her own hands. She found herself entitled to come upstairs & unplug the DJ equipment & make a scene. The police said they had seen nothing wrong with our celebration. Instead of celebrating more & saying goodbye to our guests, I had to speak with the mgr on duty & cops bc they failed to protect us from guests. Imagine had she been armed with a weapon or worse? The hotel did nothing to mediate the situation. Access to the venue should have been regulated. The Mgr was disrespectful, he tried to make us feel bad for what he had been through with noise complaints. It was all everyone could talk about the rest of the weekend. We met with Jeffrey Payne. He said he did everything in his power to make it better as he came back with a best and final subpar solution. Ask me if this was the best day of my life and I will tell you, No. Reviewed on 16-05-2022

The pre-approved vendor list made selecting contracted services (DJ, wedding cake, decor, photo/video) very easy, and we were surprised all but one vendor we had already wanted to work with was on the list. The one vendor that was not on the list was easily accepted (string duo). Mother Nature truly came through for a November wedding and allowed us to keep everything outdoors, but I have no doubt the back-up location would have been beautiful, as well. It was everything we wanted! Both Samantha and Amber were amazing. They were wonderful in communicating with our vendors. I LOVE Samantha! There is nothing this lady can't do. The only downside we can think of is that the Venue is a bit expensive. There are quite a few hidden costs. For example, the rooms at the Wild dunes are not only subject to the state tax but also another 30% resort fee. This was a bit hard on our guests as even with the reduced group rates it was still fairly expensive. Our Indian wedding was outdoors and there were set times during the day where the decorator could not be out there to decorate. To offset this they tried to set up our mandap/alter overnight however this required some lighting so they can see. To get a couple hours of lightning thru Wild Dunes was another ~$650. We found a way around this but would just caution people when planning. Overall our experience was amazing! Louise Hunt(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-10-2018 Wild Dunes was overall a beautiful place to have our reception, which was on the north croquet lawn, direct access to the beach and a very nice lay-out to have a bar, cake set-up and other festivities included in the same area. The experience however as a whole working with Wild Dunes was interesting as their services are more of a corporate approach where all our other wedding vendors were more of an personal individual nature. A general contract, divided into various sections as accommodations, facilities and catering and dealt with by various employees did make it at times impersonal and caused a lack of transparency and intense to work with. This all didnt take away anything from the beauty of the venue and the professional services and the experience on the day of to us and our guests. The fact that the venue host more than one wedding reception at the same time can be disturbing and take away some - even though they are not all on the same lawn - as wedding festivities are organised very close to each other and therefore privacy is not guaranteed during a family event. Katie Stevens(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-09-2017 I've always wanted to get married at the beach and this was the answer! Amber was such a pleasure to work with and made the process that much easier. I was probably really annoying at first with all the questions, but Amber was right there patience and all answering my questions. Irma decided the week of she was invited to the wedding, so she took out my ceremony site, Seaside Point, but our back up was awesome, North Croquet Lawns. We had the reception at the Grand Pavilion (I know its pricey, but DO IT, you will not regret it)Pictures & views were unbeatable. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is the house portion. Our house was gorgeous, except we found a lot of burs which were unpleasant to step on. Also, keep in mind when booking, houses are not set in stone because owners own them. The reason I say this, is owners can decide they don't want to rent it anymore and then Wild Dunes has to accommodate for your displacement of what they have. This happened to my aunt and uncle where they were supposed to be in Seagrove (oceanfront) and then WDR wanted to put them further away. They ended up getting a house in Grand Pavilion (closer, free of charge). Overall, if you want a dream wedding on the beach, do it, book it! Reviewed on 04-10-2017
Staci Notaro(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2017 What a beautiful place!! I'm so happy we chose to have our wedding with Wild Dunes! Overall we had a great experience but there were a few small issues. The positives: The property and amenities are amazing! Wow, so much beauty and things to do. We are sad we didn't get enough time to enjoy it all! The wedding ceremony site and reception hall were absolutely perfect! We did the Create Your Own Wedding Package with Wild Dunes and loved it! They let us customize most of the wedding to our liking and they handled most of everything. From catering (hors d'oeuvres, dinner and cake), the flower centerpieces, to the table linens and both ceremony and reception setup. The wedding package options are a great way to go! They also recommend a list of other top vendors they've hand picked, which was really helpful because we live in Florida. The event manager Amber was always really helpful and sweet and made the whole planning process a lot easier. Perfect for our destination wedding! The negatives: Accommodations were not exactly easy. It's really expensive and we expected to have a little better accommodations for the money we spent. They don't really tell you up front about all the extra service charges, resort fees and that they will be taking your money out before you even arrive. I'm sure it's in some fine print somewhere but for our wedding guests and families there were a lot of headaches dealing with condo accommodations. Our families ended up in big 4 bedroom houses after confusion with beds and the condos they were supposed to be in. That was a plus and nice of them to do but at the time of it all was just really inconvenient. But in general we loved having our wedding at Wild Dunes and our friends and family all had a great vacation too!! We would recommend this place to other couples for sure. It was exactly what we wanted and a perfect wedding weekend! Thanks to everyone at Wild Dunes! Reviewed on 21-06-2017

From the very beginning, Sam and Amber were such a pleasure to work with and helped to ensure that our \"BIG DAY,\" was just as we had envisioned. Both Sam and Amber are extremely responsive to emails and were fabulous with answering any questions I had along the way (which were A LOT!) :) During our actual reception, the staff at WD were simply amazing. I can't tell you how many times, my husband and I were approached by varying staff members to make sure we had everything we needed. They were always willing to get us a drink and even made our plate up for us at the start of dinner to make sure we were able to eat and not have to wait in the buffet line. Also to be noted, WD catered our reception and guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was - especially the bacon and cheddar corn muffins!! YUM! If you're interested in getting married in the Charleston area and are looking for a fun, family friendly island getaway, make sure you add Wild Dunes to your list!Read Less Reviewed on 20-05-2017

I can honestly say booking at Wild Dunes was the perfect decision for our destination wedding!! My husband and I are from Ohio and whenever we got engaged we were searching for a destination wedding venue on the east coast. We came across Wild Dunes and we both automatically knew that was where we wanted to get married! It was the easiest wedding decision we made to have our wedding there. Amber Williams was the hotel liaison we worked with for our wedding. She helped us book everything, answered my millions of questions and really made the booking process and time management process so easy!! I'm not sure how I could have done any of it without her, she is awesome!! When we met with Amber, she was so easy to get along with and she was and is really fantastic at what she does. Caitlin Husar(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2016 My wedding at Wild Dunes on June 17th was a dream! I started out working with Samantha Martin to book the venue and date. She is so pleasant and easy to work with, she responds quickly and wants to help you get what you want! Then a new person took over wedding coordination, her name is Amber Williams and it was a seamless transition for me. Amber was just as wonderful to work with as Samantha. And my wedding planner said they were easy to coordinate vendors with! My ceremony was supposed to be at Seaside Point until about 30 minutes before the ceremony when a huge storm rolled in but Amber and my planner were so great to come give me updates about the weather while I was getting ready and get the back up plan room all decorated in plenty of time. Dinner was in the Club room, which was recently renovated and is absolutely gorgeous. The food was to die for. The wait staff were subtle but my glass was never empty, they did a wonderful job of making sure that every guest had everything they needed. The resort itself if beautiful and well maintained. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is a few of my guests had weird charges on their rooms, a couple hundred dollars or more , that don't have explanations and shouldn't have been there. But otherwise everything was a dream. Samantha and Amber are a dream team to work with. Thanks for such a wonderful wedding! Reviewed on 15-07-2016
Kenzie Barnes(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-05-2016 I could not even being to explain how amazing our experience was with Wild Dunes Resort. Our original venue burned down one week before the wedding, and we were contacted immediately by Samantha Martin at Wild Dunes Resort and within 24 hours we had everything resolved and a new venue to hold the wedding thanks to her. She took control of everything so I didn't have to stress and she did an amazing job. All of the staff that worked our wedding were so friendly and helpful in such short notice and it was better than we could have ever imagined. We used Seaside Point for the ceremony and the Grand Pavilion for the reception and WE LOVED IT! It was very clean, had awesome landscaping and great views of the beach. If we have another event that we will need a space, I would definitely hold it at Wild Dunes. Highly recommend!! Reviewed on 26-05-2016
Christa Bagley(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-10-2015 Wild Dunes provided us with the most amazing wedding we could have asked for! Samantha Martin, the catering manager is an absolute pleasure to work with, easily reachable, always willing to answer questions, and provides excellent service to the bride, groom, and entire family! We had our entire wedding weekend at Wild Dunes with a bridal luncheon hosted at the Board Walk Inn (the food was incredible and the service was OUTSTANDING), golf for the guys at The Harbor Course, our ceremony at the Grand Pavilion and cocktail hour/reception on the South Croquet lawn. Wild Dunes truly gives you the most for your money (especially when you have your wedding on a Sunday like we did). Included in our venue fees were the ceremony and reception venue rentals, tent for reception, dance floor, stage, extra power for the band, tables/linens/china/serve ware for the reception and food set up items. The food provided by wild dunes catering was on point with food in the Charleston area in terms of taste and quality, and even though their were service fees (because it is a resort) we were willing to pay the extra for top quality service and being treated as the guests of honor all weekend. Most of our family and friends were from out of town and also stayed on the resort either in the homes or condos for rent. Included in the wedding package were also 2 nights complimentary for the bride and groom. For anyone planning a destination or beach wedding (without the sandy mess of having their ceremony on the beach) I would HIGHLY recommend Wild Dunes!!! Reviewed on 27-10-2015
Zara Grow(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-06-2015 Every aspect of our ceremony was perfect! She made sure that everything was as it should be, and she was so pleasant! We had an issue with our officiant being late on the date of the wedding, and Samantha was right there, making sure that if there was anything she could do it was done. The setting was beautiful, the catered food was delicious, the staff at the reception were all wonderful. I could not have pictured the day going any better and I could not have wished it to be more beautiful than it was. There aren't many places in the Charleston area where one can have a beach wedding and then have a wonderful reception within walking distance. And there's no traffic! She is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is incredibly organized, efficient, sweet and friendly. When we were looking at possible venues in the Charleston area, we found a few that we really liked. To us, what set Wild Dunes apart from the others was Samantha. It felt like I was planning our wedding with a close friend - we knew that our wedding was in excellent hands. We had originally planned for an outside ceremony, cocktail hour and reception on the resort. When it started to rain on our wedding day, she provided a plan b, c and d! Talk about customer service!! The entire Wild Dunes staff treated us and our guests with a level of customer service that we have never experienced before....and I work with a lot of hotels in my day job. If you are looking for an all inclusive package however, be aware that you still need to rent linens, decor, and chairs (or slip covers). The Sweetgrass Pavilion was a beautiful space and the guest rooms were perfect. The Lettered Olive is where we had the rehearsal dinner, and they were absolutely amazing too. Jacque Humeniuk(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2012 I cannot say enough about Wild Dunes! We absolutely LOVED our wedding weekend! As the bride I felt so special throughout the whole experience. We began planning in January with Melissa Moxely who made everything possible. Melissa took another position, which left me worried about who we would be paired up with - Reilly Mariotti turned out to be our person! She did not disappoint us at all! We are so happy we chose Wild Dunes. \r\rOnto the specs - we loved that our families were able to stay in beachfront homes - The one my family got was perfect with a 12 person dining table for both sides of the family to join together and eat dinner. This is one of the main reasons we chose Wild Dunes - for the amazing accommodations. There are so many different options available. We know that we will be able to go back year after year...by ourselves, with the kids, or even with the entire family. It offers so much. It was also perfect for our guests who were able to stay for several days in regular hotel rooms...or like some stay rent a condo and enjoy the beach. \r\rThe croquet lawn offered a beautiful wedding ceremony - again Reilly managed it all and was superb! We had our reception at the Boardwalk Inn Poolside which was perfect for our small gathering. The food that Wild Dunes catered was outstanding! We had a smores bar too! We opted for the chicken, potatoes, and vegetables and it was the best we had ever had! \r\rWe also had our rehearsal dinner at the village amphitheater - this was a perfect spot for a small gathering of our family and friends. We were fortunate enough to invite everyone to the wedding and the rehearsal dinner - Reilly managed all of this too - wonderful! We had the Beach BBQ. YUM!\r\rWe also enjoyed coming to the village store to get breakfast in the mornings. They had fresh breakfast for $6 and it was really good. Bacon, eggs, grits, or hashbrowns, biscuit. What every bride needs before the big day!\r\rI highly recommend Wild Dunes! Reviewed on 08-11-2012

We had a very small budget ($10k for everything, even our lodging and travel). \r\rMelissa Moxley was terrific, she really helped make our wedding day perfect. We even ended up having our rehearsal dinner at the Lettered Olive on site. We got married on the boardwalk, had photos in their parks and private beach, had our reception in their Sweetgrass Pavilion and we loved every minute of it. All of our guests raved about the resort and the wedding. Melissa has a great personality and perfect attention to detail. The food was delicious and they worked around my allergies as well as some guest food allergies. \r\rThe resort is pricey but it is worth every penny. You can find deals for renting the houses in the resort on other websites. You can also get good discounts on the rooms in the Village and Boardwalk Inn off other sites or on the wild dunes specials link. The prices they gave us for guests to rent houses and rooms was pretty high compared to using other sites to book rooms at the resort. She was very easy to get in touch with, was helpful in every way, very organized, and made sure the wedding ran smoothly and was everything I wanted. Make sure your guests know that it is a gated community. Some of our guests were a little confused as to where to go inside Wild Dunes. However, there was complimentary valet parking for all guests which was very convenient once they reached the Boardwalk Inn.
