When we visited Yesterday Spaces we knew right away that this is where we wanted to get married. This isn’t just an event space: this place is clearly loved and cherished by Arik and his team. The staff were integral to pulling off a huge wedding (250+ guests). They were excellent listeners and thoughtful and helped us create exactly the vibe we were trying to achieve. As an example, at one point in the planning process, Arik moved chairs around at the ceremony site and had us try them out to imagine what might be the best arrangement for our ceremony. We had a traditional Jewish wedding that had many moving parts and the physical space lended itself perfectly for our rituals. Our guests would not stop talking about how beautiful the venue was, and all of the thoughtful touches (handmade wooden tables, a fire pit for s’mores). Most special of all was how much space there was for our guests to relax and enjoy themselves. We had kids running around with babysitters, children petting donkeys, guests hanging out on picnic blankets, people playing corn hole and couples taking romantic walks. And to ease our worries, there were plenty of extra, covered areas ready for us, just in case of rain (though thankfully we did not need to). At the end of the evening as our guests were saying goodbye, we felt such gratitude for the care and attention that the Yesterday Spaces staff paid to us and our loved ones. Yesterday Spaces will always hold such a special place in our heart. We cannot recommend enough! Reviewed on 01-01-2024

My wife Sofia and I had the pleasure of getting married at Yesterday Spaces in April 2015. We're still going strong nearly nine years later, and we still get compliments from our guests that our wedding was the best they've ever attended. I believe our venue played a large role in that experience for our guests. From the picturesque drive along Sluder Branch Rd. to the farm space, Yesterday Spaces is a dream venue for those looking for a rustic, scenic and private wedding. Mike was such a pleasure to work with. We were sad to hear about his passing a year after we were married, but are happy that his son Arik and family have taken over the mantle. One of the important aspects of Yesterday's Spaces that gave us peace of mind was the backup ceremony site -- the dairy barn -- in case of inclement weather. April weather can be unpredictable in the Blue Ridge. Fortunately, we were gifted with perfect weather, but knowing that we had options should Mother Nature not cooperate was reassuring.Overall, we visited five venues in the Western North Carolina area, but Yesterday Spaces (our first visit) was the one we kept coming back to for a variety of reasons. Its proximity to Downtown Asheville (just 15 minutes or so) was key for our out-of-town guests. The sprawling property and farm animals was also important, since we had about 15 children at our wedding who were more than entertained. Thank you Mike, Arik and family for helping make our day so special. Reviewed on 30-12-2023

I got married at Yesterday Spaces this September and it was incredible! Arik and his team go above and beyond. The planning was thorough - meaning every detail and every back up plan had been considered and discussed which gave me a lot of piece of mind. I loved that we were able to use all spaces of the venue - the charming dairy barn with the really cool silo bar for welcome drinks, the event barn for dinner and dancing, and up the lovely carriage path to the ceremony site! Our guests spoke highly of the grounds and views. It felt like a lot of space without people being too spread out, which was perfect. There was a 50% chance of rain during our ceremony, but we really wanted to get married outside. The folks at YS were incredibly accommodating and flexible, basically giving us time to make the final decision that very morning. I am so glad we chose to risk it and have the ceremony outside - the weather held out and we and our guests loved the lovely Mountain View. It did start to sprinkle right after the ceremony and Arik & team were on top of it, making sure our guests had umbrellas and safely and quickly made their way under the awning. Luckily the rain was brief and we enjoyed all of the amenities YS has to offer. The farm animals were adorable, our guests loved playing cornhole and the built in bars were perfect. The entire day went smoothly, and as a bride I was able to focus on having the best day of my life with my new husband, family and friends. This venue is so special and unique, I highly recommend to anyone planning their wedding in Asheville. Reviewed on 30-12-2023

My wife and I quickly fell in love with Yesterday Spaces after touring with our parents and learning the history of the venue. Arik is such a personable guy and we enjoyed working with him throughout the process. We got married at the courthouse and then used Yesterday Spaces to throw a big party for our family and friends. We started with a cocktail party at the dairy barn/silo bar, transitioned to dinner and dancing in the main event space, and a bon fire in the field to wrap up the amazing day. It was a truly special day that we will never forget! Reviewed on 29-12-2023

Everything about our daughter's wedding this past November was handled by Arik and his very professional staff in a first class manner. I cannot think of anything that did not come off exactly as planned. The mountain setting and venue were perfect. Every aspect of the celebration was done on time--event planning, parking, transportation to/from parking area, catering, bars, etc. It was all a seamless example of professionalism at work. We had so many responses from our family and friends about how well everything was handled. Additionally, we felt that the entire celebration(venue/vendors, etc)was a great value for the money. The venue, staff and vendors get many more than 5 stars from this extremely happy and satisfied client. In a word, it was a perfect day that my daughter and her new husband will always remember. Yesterday Spaces is truly a GEM in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains! We worked with Arik and team for over one year to plan our Indian Fusion wedding and he made the process so much more enjoyable and helped to ensure our day was perfect! Arik is really passionate about what he does, and he really takes time to invest in the couples that chose to get married at YS, it really is such a special place. Leading up to the wedding, Arik spent so much time with us, planning, brainstorming, and getting to know us, so that when the wedding came, we felt confident that no matter what would happen, he and his team would be able to take care of it. We were not wrong - Arik and his team truly helped deliver one of the most exciting and beautiful days - despite some rain and last-minute pivoting (which they did such a great job at pivoting because our guest didn't even know we pivoted :)). One thing we loved (amongst a whole host of things) was how cozy and inviting the whole venue felt, from the welcome barn, to the lofted reception hall, to the ceremony site nestled in the trees - you truly feel like you are hidden away in a magical place, it is hard to explain but if you've had a wedding at YS, I am sure you know what I mean. Thank you to the whole YS team, especially Arik & Sheila...xo Reviewed on 21-12-2023

Katy Fogg(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-04-2023 I would give Yesterday Spaces a 100/5 star rating if I could. My experience with Yesterday Spaces - as a bride planning her own 60+ guest wedding in 7 months - was absolutely exceptional. If you are looking for a gorgeous venue that is professional yet personal and heartfelt, flexible, communicative, and VERY well-versed in the orchestration of weddings I would 100% recommend Arik and his team at Yesterday Spaces. First, the property is incredibly beautiful. If you're looking for a naturally rustic and picturesque venue near Asheville this is a perfect option. When you book with Yesterday Spaces, you get the use of the entire venue property which includes multiple ceremony space options as well as unique features for a reception. I was also blown away by how much the price of the venue includes. There's a whole room FULL of decorations that you can use (or totally not use!) free of charge. Matching mason jars and vases, wooden signs, cake stands, wooden centerpiece cutouts, and so much more. We used a lot of these decorations for our reception and it looked so good. These decorations would have cost us a fortune to gather on our own. The additional features offered by the venue, all explained in detail during our first tour, were the initial selling point. There is no venue within 100 miles that offers so much for such a great price. Trust me, I've looked. My experience planning the wedding was made easier by the staff at Yesterday Spaces. They are accommodating and flexible, not at all uptight about adjustments to ceremony or reception details. This attitude and confidence the staff displayed was extremely reassuring for me and my (at the time) fiance. We had never planned a wedding before and so sometimes didn't always know what to expect or anticipate. Working closely with Arik during an initial planning meeting and then our final planning meeting (all included in booking the venue, btw) was all we needed to feel excited and relaxed about our wedding day. Yesterday Spaces brought our vision of love to life. I can so clearly remember Arik (the owner) standing high up on a ladder the day before the wedding, helping me to hang white drapes from the ceiling that would frame the dance floor. He was genuinely excited to see what it would look like because he hadn't seen it done before. I remember on the day of the wedding one of the staff members peeked into the house where my bridesmaids and I were staying to give us cute matching umbrellas so we stayed dry on the walk over to the ceremony barn. So many moments like this.I didn't know to ask for the attention to detail and the professional, kind & genuine assistance Arik and his team gave us but we received it anyway. That's honestly just what you get with Yesterday Spaces and I am so grateful to have gotten married there. It was the best day of my entire life and I'll never forget it. Reviewed on 29-04-2023

My husband and I got married at the the venue late May of this year! We loved the view of the venue and accommodations, but sadly we still have not received our security deposit checks back for the venue and farmhouse after we were told that we would receive it. It has been a month since that last conversation via text message. My husband and I have reached out since then via text message, email and phone calls and still nothing. Our hands are tied because we can not find any other way to reach out where we would get some answers as to whether they were mailed or just got lost in the mail transit to CLT.It is very frustrating because our wedding day was beautiful and wonderfully an amazing experience and just to have to deal with the aftermath of “hunting down” someone to even respond to us is unprofessional. Arik and his team were so wonderful to work with and extremely accommodating. We were married February of this year and it was just a magnificent day. Although at first we thought we had wanted an outside ceremony we decided the morning of the wedding it would be best to keep our guest warm and have our ceremony inside the dairy barn. I will NEVER regret that decision. It was so cozy and romantic, and again Arik and our planner made this change so seamless. I would recommend this venue to anyone, it truly made our day unforgettable. Make sure to take pictures on the beautiful tree swing and the carriage row. The property was breathtaking. Elizabeth Magee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-09-2021 Yesterday Spaces was great for our wedding and reception! We planned from 8 hours away, and Arik gave us multiple video tours of the space before we booked to make sure all of our questions were answered. The ceremony space(s) are beautiful, and they have a great backup option in case of rain - aka no needing to flip the reception space in case of weather. We also rented the farmhouse for the girls to get ready, and that worked out pretty well. The guys semi got ready underneath the barn, which isn't air conditioned btw, so they should arrive mostly ready. The venue provides almost all of the plates, glasses, silverware, etc. We only had to get glasses for our signature cocktails. They also have TONS of decorations/signage that you can use, so that cuts down on lots of costs as well. They were great at organization with our coordinator, and we had no issues (that I knew of) day of. They also sent a REALLY long list of preferred vendors when we were planning, which was super helpful, especially planning from so far away. Also they have cute farm animals, which never hurts and our guests loved. Reviewed on 03-10-2021

Grace Joyal(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-08-2021 We chose Yesterday Spaces in spring 2019 to host our wedding at in March 2020. Unlike other possible venues, which didn't include things like rentals, YS was all-inclusive. It was also stunning, yet not over-the-top. Two weeks before our planned date, COVID arrived in the U.S., grinding everything to a screeching halt. With guests coming from the West Coast and England, we knew we needed to postpone. Not knowing how the virus would take shape, we rescheduled to June 2020 and about a month before, realized that, also, wasn't going to happen, so moved everything, for a second time, to August 2021. Arik and the staff at YS were incredibly receptive and gracious, working with us to find a date that would work for not only the rental of the event barn but the farmhouse and dairy barn as well. During a time that should have felt stressful, Arik went out of his way to let us know that no matter what, we'd make the wedding we envisioned come to life...whenever that might be. As ours is a destination wedding, I've yet to actually see Yesterday Spaces in person, but I know that when I do, there will be so much more to celebrate than just our wedding. We got married over Memorial Day weekend 2018 and had a lot of friends and family traveling in from out of town, including ourselves. Being on a budget and planning the wedding from afar, I really wanted a venue that was nice to work with and offered a lot of the decor and small features that might slip through the cracks since I wasn't able to be local, and Yesterday Spaces really worked out for us. We toured 5-10 venues and had no hesitation about booking this one. We had massive rain on the first half of our wedding day, that kind of hot early summer storm, but we had already decided to use the Dairy Barn as our ceremony spot-not just in case of rain, but because it's SO beautiful. We had a pre-ceremony cocktail bar set up in the silo, and the tractor/bus service up to the main event hall was so great afterwards. Arik was super communicative the whole lead-up to the wedding and was even present the day of, and I couldn't say enough nice things about him.tl;dr: I definitely recommend having your wedding here—Gorgeous anytime of year, incredible rain contingency ceremony spot, beautiful details and use of a huge store of decorations, and great to work with. Kelly V(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-05-2019 Yesterday Spaces was the perfect venue site! We originally planned for about 150 out of town guests and wanted them to be able to get a great Asheville experience. While YS is a little outside of the downtown area, it was still convenient and worth the location!! The indoor reception center and the outdoor ceremony site are beautiful. We were thankful to have a rain shower for only 20mins during the reception. There is an indoor ceremony site you can use if weather won’t allow a ceremony outside. They have a lot of things included with the wedding package- more so than the other (many many) venues that we had checked out. They also have a ton of decor stocked up that is no extra charge which helped a lot when it came to saving elsewhere in our budget. You have free range the day of (outside of the fenced-in areas), so we got some awesome photos all around at all times of the day. The lower level of the reception building was used as a hangout area the grooms-people (groomsmen and bridesmen) before the wedding party photos. The reception building is tastefully decorated to begin with which made our decorating needs minimal. The space has A/C! There is a getting ready space for the ladies which we used and really enjoyed having! There is a separate Farmhouse on the land that some of our family members rented out which was very convenient. The owner, Arik, was an absolute dream to work with. He was extremely available every step of the way with our planning and allowed us to schedule visits several times prior to the big day to take a look around and plan the details. He’s accommodating with most requests, he doesn’t allow artificial flowers, sparklers, and several other items to prevent harm to the animals and the land. Arik is a sound engineer and has installed an impressive sound system within the reception building and a couple of speakers for the outdoor ceremony site. Your DJ should be able to just plug into the system the reception building has. We could not have picked a better venue all around!!!! Thank you! Chris & Kelly Reviewed on 22-11-2019

We loved the outdoor ceremony space as well as the reception area. The dairy barn was our backup plan in case of rain. Well, it did rain and the barn brought our 235 guests together for the most gorgeous and intimate wedding we could have ever imagined for our daughter. I don't know but it was everything we could have hoped for and then some. Arik is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He was extremely helpful along the way. He has so much available to be used but doesn't pressure you into anything. The wedding turned out amazing and I think about our wedding daily. The avenue of oaks is so pretty and every spot on the premise is well maintained. The wedding venue is not cheesy or over the top on the whole barn thing. They let the gorgeous property do the work. The laid back atmosphere is perfect for an outdoor wedding. Our wedding night had a lot going on but I remember seeing Arik for the first time (he was running around behind the scenes) around 8-9 and he was smiling big and could tell it meant a lot to him as well that the wedding turned out great. He was moving tables to make the dance floor bigger. I can't say enough about how great this venue was for our wedding. Reviewed on 01-10-2019

Anonymous (wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-11-2017 I have been praising Yesterday Spaces prior to my daughter’s and new son-in-law’s September 17, 2016 wedding and continue to do so. I have been walking on cloud nine since the festivities. Everything went as we had hoped. We chose Yesterday Spaces because we felt so comfortable that it was the perfect place to bring their plan to fruition while proving to be quite affordable. Guest after guest told us over and over how beautiful the day was. From day one Mike, Arik, Aaron, Renee, and the rest of the team made this hesitant hostess feel confident that the affair would be a wonderful success. Their calm support and care ensured that every detail was handled. The plan was for an outdoor ceremony, and Yesterday Spaces eliminated any concern that weather would cause issues as they provide the perfect solution with an alternate quaint indoor ceremony space. The outdoor ceremony went as planned just prior to sunset, and the view was picture perfect. Because the venue is rented for the entire day, the couple planned a pre-ceremony event with picnic faire which allowed all those who wanted more time together to have just that. It was a great time to take family and group photographs when all still looked fresh with no need for rushing and no reason for stress. The venue provides so many items including table ware, decorations, tables not requiring table cloths, sound systems, etc. keeping not only the cost low, but also eliminating so much work involving rentals, time, and manpower to coordinate. The well decorated venue has state of the art amenities as any fine reception hall including a large kitchen that is welcomed by catering companies. List of preferred vendors are shared giving a kick start to planning all that is required. Some of our guests expected to see hay in the reception hall since Yesterday Spaces is a working farm. There is no hay in the reception area although there is hay below the reception area with stalls housing adorable animals giving a clue that the location continues to be a working organic farm. The attention to detail continues even in the well-kept stall area as speakers play music from the above celebration. The bride and groom were thrilled that their celebration was all that they planned, and this mother of the bride is forever grateful to those at Yesterday Spaces. Reviewed on 25-09-2016

a member (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-07-2016 I'm going to need a new vocabulary to describe how perfect Yesterday's Spaces was for my wedding! I looked at a few other venues, and it was absolutely no competition. The views are stunning and the various barns and farmhouses are rustic and full of beautiful antiques, but fully functional and clean. I knew I wanted to get married outside, but Yesterday's Spaces provides an incredible rain backup location that I would not have been sad about using one bit. In fact, I'm a little bummed my guests didn't get to see inside the fabulous dairy barn that provides the rain plan. Next up, there is a room full of antiques that provides EVERYTHING you need. We had so much fun deciding how and where to use different items, and I love how every wedding uses things a bit differently. Finally, the staff and the Grier family are tremendous. They felt like family by the end of our rowdy celebration! A few specific things I would recommend- -Use the farmhouse! It was a lifesaver, and made the wedding setup and cleanup so easy. My whole bridal party and family stayed there and we had so much fun cooking and drinking sangria during the day, getting ready, and doing yoga on the porch to calm our nerves before the day! I wrote my vows on the front porch on the misty morning of my wedding day, and it was such a memorable moment for me.-Pick your own flowers at Lady Luck Farm up the road! We arranged our own bouquets and all of the wedding flowers. That was one of the highlights of my wedding weekend and the wildflowers were stunning and popped everywhere. -Do not overdecorate! The spaces and natural beauty shine on their own with just a few accents. Try to use natural colors to highlight the stunning landscape at Yesterday's Spaces.-Provide buses for your guests if you can. It was such a relief for my guests that they could party as much as they wanted to and get a ride back on the windy roads. I hear later that one of the buses kept the music going with an acapella performance!Seriously, this place is at all and the family is lovely. All of our vendors love the space as well and told us they looked forward to working weddings there. Yesterday Spaces will truly provide you a one-of-a-kind wedding! Reviewed on 03-08-2016
a member (wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-10-2017 Five stars? Yes, that's right. Do I give out many five-star reviews? Hardly ever. Everything about this family's vision is inspiring. The location, the inclusiveness, the selection of accoutrements for designing your own perfect picture, the facilities....I could go on and on. But mostly this family made us feel as if they were part of our celebration. And they certainly were. They were going through some challenges as a family, yet never once did we feel we weren't getting their full attention. As two very close families celebrating a union, that feeling of warmth, love and connectedness was the atmosphere that took our wedding celebration to a very spiritual level. But there was plenty of earthly celebrating, too, out on the dance floor! I feel that Arik and Aaron and the whole family took so much of the worry, work and pressure off our shoulders, allowing us to relax and enjoy the occasion so much more. We also rented the farm house for our bridal party, and I will never stop thinking about the amazing times we girls shared there. What a special place. Abigail wharff(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2016 Now I am a picky picky bride and Yesterday Spaces was top notch. I would definately have my wedding there again if I had to do it over, without a doubt. Mike and Aaron built this place from scratch and you can feel the love that went into this place. They are proud of it and for good reason. There is nothing you need that this venue doesn’t have. Plates? Got it. Glassware? Got that too. Rain plan? Check! It actually did rain the morning of my wedding and we had to move our outdoor ceremony to their indoor plan which is their Dairy Barn. Can I tell you? This ended up being a DREAM. The pictures with the dried flowers hanging from the ceiling with the intimate setting of the dairy barn was magical. I think Mikes daughter hands the pretty flowers from the ceiling which gives the barn this super romantic touch. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about it. There are also two large, beautiful houses (several bedrooms in each) on site that you can rent, not too far from the Reception Barn and Ceremony areas. We rented the largest one for the ladies to get ready in and it too was the perfect choice. Super charming and SPACIOUS! Mike and Aaron are war, friendly and reasonable. They want to see their clients happy and I love that about them. This is a special family with a special property and you should definitely look at it for a venue if you are planning your wedding. Anonymous (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-08-2017 The perfect environment for a relaxed, fun wedding! We couldn't have been happier with our choice in a venue. From the first visit at YS, this venue had us hooked. The Grier family is kind and incredibly prepared to help host the ideal wedding weekend. They offer far more amenities than other local venues (and for a much better price). We appreciated all of the decorations they let us use, the antiques that decorate the event barn, the big field, the cornhole games, the stunning front and back porches, the rocking chairs, killer sound-system, the dairy barn for rehearsal dinner, and the gorgeous wood in the barn. Our guests had a blast exploring this lovely space and we loved that everyone had the freedom to roam around. We spent 6 days and 5 nights at YS (rented the farmhouse), which allowed us to truly enjoy our week, our family, and everything this venue has to offer. Again, we could not have selected a better venue -- YS was perfect for the relaxed, joyful wedding that we envisioned. All in all, I couldn’t recommend Yesterday Spaces more!! For context, I’m a San Francisco native who has lived in Los Angeles, Charlotte, and Washington DC, with tons of extended family in Kentucky. I love the funkiness and food/drink culture of Asheville, buts I also appreciate rustic glamour. Given this, Yesterday Spaces provided us the absolute perfect place to get married (AND throw incredible party with our 150 closest loved ones!)PROS:- The setting is just perfect. You can choose from a few ceremony spots, and non will disappoint. There is a built in rain plan, and there is MORE than enough space for your guests to do what they want to do - dance, drink, smoke cigars, play lawn games, build a campfire, hang out with animals - you name it! There’s so much natural beauty you don’t need a ton of decor, but it’s also a blank canvas to also let your artistic side go! - The family is incredibly wonderful to work with. The owner, Mike, suffered a serious stroke 3 months before our wedding day, and his son Aaron contacted us immediately and promised he’d be just as available as his father - and he was. He answered every email within 1 day, and assured me I could call with any questions. He graciously received and stored 6 boxes of decor, and made it super easy to retrieve them when I arrived on site. - The venue can be a steal. Though we paid $4000 for the weekend for the whole property, and because you can bring in your own food and drink, use their state of the art sound system, and use the tables/chairs/dishware they already have, it could be a really inexpensive option. You honestly don’t even need linens the tables are so nice. We did get a DJ, linens, outsourced the bar, etc, but if we didn’t we could have stayed in our original $15k or so budget. They also have a ton of decor on site you can just use - think copper pots, mason jars, tall vases, water jugs, some leftover signs - so this can also cut down on budget. And there are a lot of local flower farms where you can pick your own flowers, but just note that most of them don’t go in bloom until June!- There are two houses on site that are ADORABLE and perfect for getting ready day of - groom’s men in one, bride’s ladies in the other. They’re about $300/night and if you get them, you have to reserve starting on Thursday. They sleep about 9 people each, and it was so fun to allow our family to stay in them through the weekend. It also made it super easy to store stuff, etc. CONS (OR, REALLY, JUST THINGS TO KNOW):- While there is parking there on site, if you expect to have a lot of non-local or drinker guests, you’ll want to get them a bus from downtown to take them there and back. Uber does not pick up in Leicester, and cabs are unreliable. For two 60-person buses through Emma’s Bus Lines, it costed between $2-3,000. - The houses are stocked with towels, toilet paper, sheets, and kitchen gear, but we had to go out and get other ‘basics’ that sometimes come in airbnb houses; think salt and pepper, olive oil, napkins, etc. This was ok, but slightly frustrating. - They are a bit particular about some things (only two candles per table, no sparklers, etc), but honestly they didn’t really ever say no, and are really dedicated to making sure that each bride and groom have a fantastic event!- You really gotta be out of there by 11pm!! So plan accordingly. Reviewed on 01-05-2016
Stephanie Shoemaker(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2015 I cannot say enough about Yesterday Spaces--from the day I first visited, all the way through our wedding ceremony and reception, it was our dream venue! Mike, the owner, cares a great deal about the space, and it really shows. Everything is impeccably maintained, he was super responsive during the planning process, and the service he and his team offered on the day of our wedding was top-notch. We had a rainy day, but because Yesterday Spaces has a built in backup plan, we didn't stress at all--our fall wedding in the gorgeous and vintage dairy barn (built in the early 1900s) was magical...dare I say, Pinterest-worthy. :) Our families also stayed in the farm house and log cabin on site, which was convenient and fun--both are fabulous, and full of antique treasures. The entire day and evening flowed smoothly. A great deal of wedding accessories are located on site and included in the venue's rental price--glasses, silverware and dishes, gorgeous locally sourced and handmade wooden tables and chairs, and Mike's very cool and curated collection of antique furniture. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Yesterday Spaces to anyone looking for a rustic, beautiful wedding in the Asheville area. Reviewed on 26-10-2015
Anonymous (parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2015 From our first visit, my daughter, my husband, and I all loved Yesterday Spaces. Mike, the owner, graciously arranged a tour for us the same afternoon he was leaving for a family vacation, since that was the only day my daughter could visit. His love for his farm, his warmth, and his concern for his clients were obvious immediately. The seclusion and beauty of the farm immediately grabbed us, along with all its infrastructure.\r\rWe visited a few other venues but none came close to what Yesterday Spaces could offer. We loved having so much included with our venue: the tables, chairs, china, glassware, flatware. The event barn was carefully planned for receptions and other events, with a great sound system, a mounted projector, fantastic rest rooms, excellent kitchen, and decorative lighting. The front porch is a wonderful space for cocktail hour, and the back deck overlooking the fields is a great space for guests to gather and chat when they aren't dancing. \r\rWe picked a date and started the planning. We had two on-site planning meetings, which went very smoothly. I sent Mike and the vendors agendas before the meetings, and he addressed all of my questions and more. He was always courteous, kind, prompt, and professional. Since my daughter and I did most of the planning, we appreciated all of his wonderful suggestions. He was always willing to share ideas from his experiences with previous weddings, and he provided a vendor list to get us started. He also answered emails promptly.\r\rWe loved the on-site lodging: the groom's family stayed in the farmhouse, and the bride's family stayed in the log cabin, for three nights, Thursday-Sunday. The convenience and the magic of staying on the farm were great! Listening to the rain on the roof the night before the wedding was cozy.\r\rSince the ground was very wet, we had the ceremony in the Dairy Barn, a very cozy and intimate space. Many guests said they thought having the ceremony there was even better than the field would have been. The acoustics in the barn made it easy for the guests to hear the ceremony, the bluegrass band was able to set up in the corner, and the dairy barn with its original steel milking stalls made a unique and memorable location!\r\rSince the rain had stopped in the early afternoon, we were able to take outdoor pictures and ride in the wagon to the reception barn without umbrellas. Mike was attentive to all our needs on the wedding day, shuttling guests to and from the parking lot in his four-wheeler; helping my husband's aunts retrieve their luggage from their car, then taking them to the log cabin to settle in so we wouldn't miss any of the reception; turning off the projector and raising the screen when it was time to stop the slideshow. He was always ready to help.\r\rThe \"look\" my daughter wanted was bohemian chic with an organic and rustic feel. Both the dairy barn and the event barn provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and the celebration afterward.\r\rWe also hosted a Sunday brunch on the log cabin's wrap-around porch. That extra time for the bride and groom to visit with family and friends was priceless. Always gracious, Mike allowed us a later check-out to accommodate the brunch.\r \rMany of our guests came from California. The groom's mother said, \"California family and friends are and will be talking about this time in NC for years to come.\" Yesterday Spaces was the perfect choice for us. My daughter said, \"I had my dream wedding, Daddy!\" Reviewed on 26-10-2015

Working with Yesterday's Spaces and Mike Grier was a pleasure.Firstly, the space and grounds are beautiful and perfect for the farm setting wedding.Secondly,Mike knows the business of putting on a festival and in our case a wedding. His advice and recommendations were right on target, which was imperative for us as we live 1000 miles away.Even the little details of where the sun would be in late July in the pm in order to be in the shade for the ceremony were exact. We rented the Farm House and Log Cabin also, which was ideal because of location and convenience.Being on the property with family and friends also promoted a festive atmosphere leading up to the wedding. The condition of these properties is also top notch with all modern amenities. The use of the dairy barn and silo for the rehearsal dinner was a value added not to mention convenience again.(We had a food truck come and ordered off the truck which was parked next to the entrance to the dairy barn)\rIn summary, Yesterday's Spaces is the perfect place if you want a beautiful outdoor farm style wedding(or a party of any nature),first class facilities and want to work with real pro's.Tom Cataldo Reviewed on 04-08-2015
Mikaya Merrills(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-07-2015 I really enjoyed working with Yesterday Spaces. They were very helpful in the days leading up to the wedding. They answered all of my many questions very quickly. On the day of the wedding the staff was extremely helpful in so many ways. From helping us to set up the ceremony site to giving rides to some of our elderly guests, they were always there to help. The venue also is helpful in the fact that they provide all of the tables and chairs that you need for the ceremony and the reception. Also included is only the plates and silverware. However they do not include any linens so we had to rent those our selves. Other services they provide are a sound system for both the reception and the ceremony sites, they give rides for those who are elderly and have difficulty walking long distances, a screen and projector for a slide show or video, and many other things. They also have a variety of decoration that you can use. The kitchen is very big compared to other venues I looked at. They also have a small room that the bride can get ready in. The only thing that I wish Yesterday Spaces would allow was the use of sparklers for the send off. To me this makes for amazing pictures and I would have loved to have used them, but as of now the venue does not allow them. But other then that Yesterday Spaces did an amazing job. Lucie Hartmann(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-10-2014 We were pleased as punch with this venue. First, pictures just do NOT do this place justice. You absolutely 100% need to visit this place. I visited in all four seasons, and it was just gorgeous every time we visited! We had our wedding in October and the weather was perfect; the leaves were beautiful! The aisle of trees is exquisite. Absolutely exquisite. I can honestly say that any doubts I had about YS vanished the second I saw the aisle of trees. It was everything I had ever envisioned for my favorite walk with my dad. \r\rSecond, there was an indoor option that was stand-alone great! I was very concerned about pouring rain and while I wanted an outdoor option, I didn't want to be at the mercy of Mother Nature. YS offers a beautiful indoor dairy barn which was such a stress relief for me knowing that my indoor option wasn't a tent that could end up being a disaster if there was rain and wind...Call me crazy, but I worried about these things. \r\rThird, this venue is more than just a \"venue.\" This place comes with a load of rustic chic items including tons of decorations. Mike has pretty much every sized table, most of which are antique and rustic looking. Also available are dishes for use! While these weren't the beautiful wedding china, these white place settings fit the décor beautifully--very rustic, very simple. Certainly you don't have to use any of this stuff, but heck-why not?! It's already there!\r\rFourth, Mike and his team did a great job cleaning up the area beforehand, making sure everything was perfect. I truly believe that Mike has the interests of the B&G at heart and works hard to make each wedding special and beautiful. At the rehearsal we noticed all these pesky pine cones and large sticks, but at the wedding the next days, these had all miraculously vanished! Mike and his team work hard to make this place beautiful and presentable! \r\rFifth, my family took advantage of the rentals on the property and rented the log cabin for me, my sisters and brother, and some of my friends. This was such a good idea! I was able to get ready at the house (without having to worry about the hustle and bustle of setting up and decorating). This also gave us the chance to haul in all of our items the day or two before, rather than waiting for the day of (I will add that Mike graciously and enthusiastically let us store our stuff in the barn after the rehearsal dinner-this may have been because there was no Friday wedding, but this definitely helped out!) \r\rMy only criticism was that during the wedding, Mike took pictures. Let me be clear--I have no qualms with him taking pictures (in fact I think he is permitted to do this in the contract). my issue came about when the photographer took pictures of me and my dad walking down the aisle of trees and Mike was in the background. Fortunately, my photographer did some creative placement to avoid getting Mike in the pictures, but this caused me some stress since I wasn't quite sure how the pictures turned out. We ended up re-taking those pictures after the ceremony, and the lighting was even better so that was great! In the future though, I would ask that Mike be more aware of his placement with respect to the photographers, etc. \r\rI could go on about YS for hours (or at least more than the character count allows). And so could my parents (who were beyond thrilled with everything). I truly believe that you will NOT be disappointed with YS. At the least, check it out. \r Reviewed on 17-03-2015
Pattie Hofland Mackenzie(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-09-2014 We got married this past fall and decided to book the entire property, including the two homes for rent. It was an absolutely beautiful venue. The homes are so fantastic and we got LOTS of compliments from guests staying in them. The authenticity of them is really fun and made guests feel like they were transported to another time. However, there are lots of rules in the homes, an entire book of them. Not my cup of tea. He also confused me on the wifi thing - note, they have it in the houses and the main event barn. Our rule book was messed up and via email he only said there was wifi at the event barn so we didn't get the wifi code for 4.5 or the 6 days we rented it. Which sucked considering I had to work from home the first of the week so I was driving off site for wifi to coffee shops, away from my family that was visiting from out of the country. However! He WAS flexible with our check-out time since no one checked in after us which was really really nice of him. Really appreciated that.\r\rWe had our rehearsal dinner in the dairy barn, which is gorgeous. Everyone loved the silo! We ended up having a food truck and the vendor was very good about some last minute issues. I was really worried he would send them away due to them coming unprepared (no generator), but they made it work and everyone had a blast. However, I overlooked the curfew for that night in the many contracts and got ourselves in to a LOT of stress when I got a call from the venue owner at 10pm saying we should have been out by 9pm. We had a HUGE scramble to clean up and get out in time and that was ridiculously stressful. After reviewing the all the contracts, I did finally find that detail, but it would have been nice to have a reminder or something the week of the event. There were lots of rules and it was hard to keep track of them all. So if rules aren't your thing, this isn't your venue.\r\rThe day of was absolutely gorgeous, but we did have a few hiccups. The venue set up the chairs outside for the ceremony and unfortunately they shoved them wayyyy to close to the arbor, so everyone was right in each others faces. That was a bit awkward. He also said he would be giving people rides back to their cars but that didn't run smoothly and I had to call him to come get a few people. Lastly, there were lots of rules on how you could decorate, hang things and put things on tables. That made things a bit tricky as well. Other then that, the venue is BEAUTIFUL and he really did think through everything. Every inch of it is lovely from the bathrooms to the tables to the rental homes. It's his baby, so I see why he's so particular about things, but for us it was a tad too particular and added to the stress of it all. I would recommend it though. And I think it was the perfect spot for our family that came so far...it was a WOW venue that made people feel like they were in the mountains of NC :) So I am happy with it! Reviewed on 07-12-2014

Caroline Stoltzfus(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2014 As local Asheville residents, we wanted to find a venue for our wedding that felt like it was comfortable, not too pricey, and could accommodate (and impress!) our families who were coming into town. We looked at quite a few other spots, but were so happy to come across Yesterday Spaces! It did all those things, plus the Griers & their crew were very nice to work with and helpful in planning our big day. A few of the best things about it: beautiful space both indoor & outdoor for ceremony and reception (so no weather-based anxiety), mountain & farm loveliness, almost all of the add-ons (rental needs) were included, and as someone who felt intimidated by the process of wedding-planning, the Griers made it very easy & painless. Very highly recommended, thanks again Yesterday Spaces! Reviewed on 11-10-2014
Anonymous (parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-08-2014 WE WERE A DESTINATION WEDDING!\rOut of our area...somewhat apprehensive about this... BUT\rour whole wedding experience was beautiful. Yesterday Spaces was love at first sight for our bride and groom. They came home and said...\"you will love Mike and Yesterday Spaces when you go down next week\"!! The rest is history!! \r YS is a unique and serene\r working farm setting, quietly atop a hill at the end of the lane. All guest parking is at the bottom of the hill with tractor/wagon transportation to barn. Makes you really feel that you are away from the hustle/bustle. (Inclement weather-van). We had tractor/wagon...guests loved it. Mike and his staff are great to work with. They (he) is very personable and really makes you feel that this is your special day and however he can help you he will. Meant a lot. Promptly answer questions, phone or email. (I prefer email), welcomed scheduled visits to make plans. Mike is a very calm, reassuring person to work with. He is organized. That meant the most to us. He (they) know what to do. They are all inclusive with dining ware. Nothing needed from outside rental except linens. Their round guest tables are pretty in themselves and need no extra\rcovering. We just used runners....a nice mix with tablecloths on long bridal table and bare wood on guest tables. Pretty wooden chairs for both ceremony and reception. They have a unique mix of antique furniture pieces that make excellent props for desserts, pictures, gifts, guest book, etc. Lighting is fantastic. No need for extra white lights etc. Yesterday Spaces is set up in such a way that transition from a sunny day to a rainy day isn't an issue. They have a unique dairy barn on site as well that makes a perfect area for an inside wedding. A last minute switch is easy to do...still keeping ceremony site and reception site separate. Calmness and some direction from who you are working with means a lot! Mike was very reassuring on our day about making a change if needed. Sun prevailed!! You can go from elaborate decoration to minimal and the venue is still very pretty. We were allowed to bring our decorating items on our rehearsal day and store in the bottom of the barn and then just arrive day of wedding, retrieve them and begin. The front yard of the reception barn and both the front and back porch (covered deck) area, complete with rocking chairs, was an excellent place for our guests to gather and visit. On another note...our wedding party (girls) had both makeup and hair done on site, dressed there. YS has an area right off reception area with plenty of room for getting ready. This meant so much to my daughter and me because we were able to be, both involved in decoration, and getting ready at the same time. We did not feel we were missing anything of the day. We brought lunch in for all of us and just had a great day from beginning to end. Meandered outside, rested on porch, totally relaxing. (even our makeup person (Amy) and our hair person (Emily) were impressed with the \"dressing\" area. No need to rush to get to ceremony. We were already there!!!! What more can I really say, other than this venue was perfect for us!!! Our whole day was GREAT!!! We spent several weekends in Asheville looking at a number of venues. Yesterday Spaces shown \"way above\"!!! A perfect day!!!! And cleanup was a breeze!!! I am sure there are other things I could mention but all in all the best choice!! Reviewed on 09-09-2014
Alexandra Bush(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-08-2014 I absolutely loved working with Yesterday Spaces. Mike was very helpful and quick to respond to emails. The wedding day went perfectly and I appreciated that we could store our picked flowers there, and use other decorations and vases the venue had collected. It was really wonderful to know I had the Dairy Barn as a back up if we needed it due to weather. \r\r If I could do it again, I would hands down pick Yesterday Spaces again. I highly recommend any bride looking for a quaint farm wedding to look into this venue. Reviewed on 19-08-2014
Anonymous (parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-07-2014 We booked Yesterday Spaces for our daughter's wedding as she fell in love with the pastoral setting for the ceremony and we loved having the incredibly remodeled barn onsite for the comfort of an indoor, sit-down reception. Adding to the benefits of this venue, we booked the cabin and farmhouse for the weekend which gave us convenient access to the wedding site and a great opportunity to visit with family and friends that had traveled many miles for this wedding.\r\rThe staff was very professional and supportive and took great pride in their venue. All of our guests had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed the atmosphere of this wedding. My daughter and new son-in-law said they would not change a thing and were so happy...that is all I needed to hear!!! The owners were very helpful with recommending vendors as I was planning this from a distance and only had a short time to plan. We are so excited to begin to see pictures and realize that the other benefit of this venue will be the beautiful setting for all the photos. We highly recommend Yesterday Spaces for your special event! Reviewed on 25-07-2014
