Marie D(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-09-2019 My husband and I got married at Black Diamond Gardens exactly one month ago today! I remember how overwhelming it was to search for and compare wedding venues, so I typed our “review” in bullet points below in hopes that this will be easier to read for those of you looking for specific information. Best of luck to anyone wedding planning!|| VENUE ||- Great venue!- Various areas for ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner program- Beautiful outdoor garden spaces and indoor greenhouse reception area - Needs little to no additional decoration- Gazebo (lights up at night)- Colorful foliage- Long wooden dock and pond, bride & groom can take photos in small boat- Plenty of areas for photoshoots, all within a short walking distance (it was a huge plus considering our ceremony ran way longer than anticipated, reducing our photo time)- I visited six times before my wedding; November 2018, December, twice in May 2019, twice in July. The venue looked a little different with every visit as the foliage changed colors with the seasons and Deidre continually adds flowers and plants to revamp an already beautiful venue into an even more enchanting place.|| STAFF & COMMUNICATION ||- Very flexible and accommodating whenever we requested to visit (first time tour, with our vendors, with our parents, etc.)- Use of online event management tool to keep track of venue-related action items and deadlines so you’re always on the same page with venue staff- Easy to contact and quick to respond (call, text, email)|| PRICE & VALUE ||- Great value for your $$- Deidre puts people first, before profit- Very transparent with contract terms and rates (no hidden fees)- The venue staff set up all tables and chairs per your approved floor plan, so when your day of coordinator and vendors arrive, the basics are already taken care of and any additional decorations can be put up|| VENDORS ||- Freedom to choose most of our own vendors (only our bartender had to be chosen from their list)- For safety and to protect the beautiful gardens, you are required to hire childcare from their pre-approved nanny list if you will have 6 or more children under the age of 13 present. We chose to have a “no kids” wedding and it was great! All of our guests loved having a “date night” with their partners. Many told us during dinner that this was their first “night out” without their child(ren) in years!|| RENTALS ||- Bridal Cottage, “Groom’s Cave”, tables, chairs, sound system, and more included with venue payment- The venue offers a wide range of optional items you can rent (lawn games, signage, decorations, etc.). We rented white china sets from BDG along with a large green foliage backdrop with white “Mr.” and “Mrs.” signs for our photo booth. || GUEST EXPERIENCE ||- Quiet and peaceful (away from the city)- Ample parking to accommodate our 200+ guests- Clean restrooms, ADA accessible- Animals (goats, rabbits, doves)- Fire pit- Plug-in for outdoor stage speaker system- High quality speaker system in greenhouse- Plenty of seating inside greenhouse for 220 people, still had plenty of space open for large dance floorThank you Deidre, Breanna, and the BDG staff for providing us a beautiful garden and wonderful customer service for our special day! We’ll be recommending this venue to everyone we know for years to come! Reviewed on 29-10-2019

The venue is beautiful! We did ours on a Sunday and it was a very reasonable price. The bride's area was comfortable for me, 3 bridesmaids, my mom, and 2 hair/makeup people (shout out to SweetPBeauty). It was a hot day so the air conditioning in the space was great. There are so many spots for pictures with various flowers and greenery throughout the place. I appreciated being able to rent my plates/forks/etc. from the venue because it cut down on my vendor list. I also really liked their bar and DJ suggestions who knew the place well. The reason I give it a 4 is that the woman who runs it, while an amazing person, is not the best at communicating so if you are high needs in that area or have lots of questions or concerns it would be best to hire the day of coordinator she suggests (who is also very nice). However, she was very kind and nice to us and even helped my mom clean at the end. I loved how everything was set up by the time I got there at 10AM and that she asked to know who to talk to instead of me to make sure I was not bothered. The only other negative was there were a few mosquitos so I would recommend some bug spray be put in your day of kits, and while I saw a few mosquitos I did not have any bites (and I did not put on spray). If you are doing a summer wedding the actual ceremony space does not have shade, but there is tons of shaded areas for people otherwise. There is also a small space to farm animals. They were a great hit with my guests and they did not make the day seem less fancy. I would recommend this place to others as a great way to have a beautiful venue with little floral needs due to its natural beauty. Reviewed on 24-07-2023
JENNA GOLAN-STRIEB(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2021 Please be very cautious if you decide to book with Black Diamond Gardens.I toured the venue back in September 2019 and fell in love with for our August 2020 wedding. It took several tries to reach Deidre from the beginning and get her to send me the contract and confirm our date had been taken off the market. I didn't think much of it at the time because I'm pretty type A and know that not everyone is as fast to respond as me.Unfortunately, when COVID rolled around, we decided to change our wedding to the following year. Deidre kept insisting that it would be fine to hold a wedding in that space with 200 people. We sent her a list of four dates to confirm which one was available. She told us they were all available and so we immediately responded with our preferred date. We spent the next seven weeks trying to confirm with her that we were set for that date. I'm talking email, phone, text multiple times per week and NO RESPONSE.Finally, I went to our planner who reached out and Deidre responded. She called and let us know that an hour after she had said the date was available it was taken by another couple. She didn't have the time to let us know for SEVEN weeks that it wasn't an option. While I appreciate Deidre admitting her mistake and refunding us the money to go to a new venue, it shouldn't have happened in the first place.I hope that my unfortunate experience can at least let future brides know that if they decide to book Black Diamond Gardens, please make sure all the contract and date documents are in order. Do not assume anything until you have confirmation in writing. We are now out several thousand dollars because of this error. I urge the venue to hire someone to take care of the books and make sure this never happens to anyone again. Reviewed on 09-07-2020
Sierra Schaller(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-08-2019 First of all, this venue is absolutely STUNNING and so uniquely Pacific Northwest, it was the perfect setting for an early August wedding, even with the heat, it was worth it! My husband is French and it was a great representation of all the beauty the PNW has to offer and they were blown away with the Greenhouse too! It definitely all came together, but there were a few communication hiccups and specific contractual obligations I wish I prepared myself for a little more before signing the dotted line, but overall, I would not take anything back, this place was just perfect for us and our family and friends to celebrate such a special day. I am also a bride \"abroad\" as I currently live in Paris and did a lot of my to-do's, including choosing our venue, all via online and email which I recognize added to come communication hiccups. I do have to be honest and say they did double book our wedding date (we were booked for August 11th originally), with time zones and people actually visiting the venue in person versus us being abroad, this is definitely a possible mishap that could happen anywhere, but obviously added some unneeded stress (they also double booked our rehearsal day too haha, but again, it all worked out!)...BUT Deidra and her team more then made up for it giving us a huge discount on our day being moved a week earlier and a discount on all their rentals (the mixed China and goblets are heaven). I really thank Deidra and her team for making it all happen and being so generous and forgiving with mixing up our wedding date, because ultimately it did work out! Also, when it comes to bartenders, children and hours, this venue has some very strict policies, make sure you read through it all before signing (I ended up asking that parents leave their kiddos at home, just easier! :). When I did book the venue, it stated on the Knot that you could get ready in the bridal suit (I had 6 bridesmaids) and the bridal suit is AMAZING, so cute and has AC! But when I met Deidra and her team in person (in March) they said that I would need to get ready off site with the amount of people I had as the bridal suit simply does not have the outlets to support getting ready on sight, definitely a hurdle finding out in March, but I ended up booking at the Rodeway Inn, just a 10 minute drive to BDG, a great spot for any brides looking for a solution! I think now it is stated you can not get ready on site (also no AC in the Grooms Cave, also awesome, but just a heads up for summer wedding people!). Overall, we ended the night dancing outside on the beautiful green lawn and it was just perfect! Thank you BDG for helping me abroad and making our day so special! I hope this feedback is helpful for all the future events I know you will be hosting :) Reviewed on 13-09-2019
James Shigihara(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-06-2019 1. Flowers – BDG used to be a plant nursery and you can definitely tell! Deidre the owner has done such a terrific job making this place filled with flowers and beautiful shades of green. It has to be one of the most stunning venues in Washington state, even our wedding planner said so!2. Lake – There is a lake nearby with a boat where my wife and I took some photos/videos at sunset. It was magical.3. Guest Count – The venue was able to comfortably fit our wedding of 180+ guests4. Extra Rentals – We took advantage of the farm tables for dinner, the LOVE marquee lights and the wine barrels.5. Outside dancing – It was so much fun to dance outside under the stars. We would highly recommend Black Diamond Gardens and Deidre. We are so happy that we had our wedding here 😊 Reviewed on 22-08-2019

Cory Shiraishi(groom)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-04-2018 We had our wedding here in early April 2018. It was beautiful! Any earlier would have been too early though. We got lucky with the weather too, as it was intermittently rainy but everything worked out just fine.I can't overstate how pretty this venue was. It's really different from a lot of other venues. We wanted something outdoor, but we were also getting married in April in PNW, so this was perfect! As for the downsides, sometimes the staff weren't the easiest to communicate with prior to the wedding. Deidre wasn't always on top of responding quickly, and sometimes it didn't seem like she remember previous conversation we'd had. Luckily, before our wedding she got some help with Nelliena (sp?) who helped us organize a floor plan and figure things out. Everything turned out okay, but there's room for improvement there. There was a miscommunication on how many people could fit inside the greenhouse for dinner. In some places it is listed at 300, and under ideal conditions that can work, but not with We had a head table that stretched across the whole front (about 14 people total in the party including us), and then we had rows of tables that fit about 270 people. In order to make room for dancing, we had to pull out a quarter of the tables. Using primarily the greenhouse, I think this would be a great venue for around 240 people. More than that and it gets tricky. If you're in the summer and you do dancing somewhere else, and if you don't have a head table, you can probably fit the full 300 or so. There was also a miscommunication about the hanging butterfly decorations. Luckily they were able to get them set up on the day of.Finally, on the day of there was a plumbing issue in the mens room, resulting in some small lines because of reduced capacity.Despite some small hiccups, having our wedding at BDG was a really good experience and we enjoyed it a lot. How beautiful the venue is really outweighed some of the negatives. I'm sure as time goes on some of the communication problems with get ironed out. Reviewed on 01-04-2019
Vanessa Rebrik(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-07-2018 My wedding was here! And I absolutely loved it! I had family members, who are so set up on doing weddings inside of churches only, they came up to us saying that they loved the venue and the garden. They loved the idea of having a wedding around a lovely garden, pond, even prettier greenery. The only thing I would say, if you have a lot of kids during your wedding, get child care to watch them! The garden is delicate, needs to be watched after not run over by kids. Reviewed on 03-08-2018

I will start off saying I was a guest here for a friend's wedding and I'm sorry this is such a long post but I am trying to include a response to her implied. How they treat their paying individuals I cannot say. They treated some guests and all the children terribly. From the moment we arrived one of the ladies made a statement, \"Are THEY going to be HERE all day?\" to the kids and it was not in a tone of curiosity but of annoyance. We brought some things out of the car to occuppy them and keep them out of the way after getting permission from the groom that this would be ok to take them out of the car. All the toys we brought had been put back in the car after 30 min because they were bored. The children were never left unattended, being watched by us, and stayed in the gravel during those 30 min. The same lady started creeping around spying on the kids, waiting for them to do something. We walked to the back where the wedding games were set up and she followed them to spy. Feeling uncomfortable and creeped out we left to go get lunch because the wedding was later but we were asked to be 7 hrs early by the groom. When we came back to change there were 2 picked hydrangea blooms and 1 vine on the ground. We proceeded past them to change in the bathroom and then the kids went to look at their bunnies. This lady came over and starts accusing them for picking the flowers. The kids and I explained that they didn't, that they were like that. She didn't care and continued to blame them. She said, \"Children cannot be left alone at THIS venue\". They weren't and haven't been, we just got back 5 minutes ago. I watched as another employee yelled at another child because he was playing catch with a light small ball that was provided for the children, not the big heavy ones she is implying. While my kids sat on the steps so this lady cannot start blaming them again, the other kid was yelled at because the ball rolled into the bushes. He wasn't hurting the bushes, he didn't mean for it to roll into the bushes, was already retrieving it carefully ( you could see it across the yard it was on the edge), but this employee felt the need to legitimate yell at this kid who was another guest's kid and would claim that it is warranted without talking or even giving a heads up rule. Also, another one snapped at the kids that were given permission to get a cupcake once the wedding started and the bride and groom had cut their cake. She came over claiming they were poking the cupcakes. No we watched exactly what happened, they pointed at the ones they wanted and you took it upon yourself to assume and made them cry blaming them again for something they didn't do and telling them they couldn't have one. Not one cupcake showed any signs of this because they didn't touch them. I have a few more things they did and things we have heard from no less than 8 other adult guests that they told to us without provocation about how terrible the staff was acting. If you want your guests leaving here with a sour taste in their mouth about your wedding then by all means. They could have addressed us as the parents from the beginning their concerns so we could have adjusted, spoken to the kids clearly in different manners, given us any of their rules, or even given the slightest smile. However, a business in weddings claiming to make your wedding the most special day that you are trying to share with your loved ones stops at your wallet. The food caterers and DJ were great.
