Easy to Reach, Hard to Leave Behind

For individuals who value flawless events, the Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center provides an elegant setting in Port Deposit, MD. The estate invites couples to exchange vows in an atmosphere of stately serenity, welcomed by friendly staff. With picturesque riverfront views 200 feet above the Susquehanna, it is an ideal location for those seeking to add an air of class and grandeur to their big day. The Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center is a stately setting for an up-scale wedding experience whose tone is evident upon arrival. Guests will be greeted by the house’s magnificent portico entrance, which is supported by robust columns. The manor’s rooms feature original fixtures such as spiral stairways, arched doorways, antique chandeliers, and subtle wall moldings for an effect of refined elegance. The scenic grounds of the estate include a greenhouse, a converted carriage house, recreational areas, and access to hiking trails. Its manicured lawn looks out over the deep waters of the Susquehanna River and its tree-lined banks, providing a stunning backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. Couples can celebrate in the lap of luxury, taken care of by the manor’s attentive staff. Those celebrating their vows can hold a tented reception on the property’s lawn, or a smaller affair inside the manor’s banquet room. The staff is able to provide catering for events of up to 50 guests, and welcome outside vendors for larger gatherings. The management is happy to recommend some of the area’s best wedding professionals. For those staying the night, there are 17 exquisitely decorated rooms, featuring period furniture and modern amenities. The former estate of renowned industrialist Frank Donaldson Brown, this stunning manor has presided over the Susquehanna River since 1939. The mansion’s red-brick façade is a perfect example of the Georgian-Revival style popular at the time. One of Maryland’s most iconic houses, it was bequeathed to the University of Maryland in the 1960s. Port Deposit is a wonderful area for a weekend retreat, with two state parks nearby to entice nature lovers, multiple golf courses, and notable wineries. The historic town of Havre de Grace is also nearby and makes for a great day trip.
