The Largest, Newest Event Venue in the Twin Cities
Built in 1905, the Connolly Shoe Factory was renovated in 2016 to become JX Event Venue, one of the largest event venues in Minnesota. With the lavish and modern renovation of the building JX Event Venue boasts 14,000 sq feet of event space and has a capacity of up to 720 guests. The venue is perfect for large weddings, small celebrations and everything in between. Clients have access to an unparalleled multimedia experience, optical illusion photobooth and a state of the art sound and light system. The space is dynamic, bursting with modern luxuries, while still celebrating the historic charm of the building. Every celebration feels intimate as the space is customized to match the exact vision and needs of the event. JX Event Venue hosted the most magical day for our wedding! Emily worked with us tirelessly to assure we had everything we needed from the small details up to every specific preference of ours. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and needed little decor and effort to make our wedding day stunning. The chandeliers are a major hit! Everyone who worked with us was genuine and cared about us and our guests. Emily and the the team coordinated with all of our partnering venues to assure the day flowed and stayed on track so that we didn’t have to worry about a single concern. We had help and support throughout our entire planning process - and the tours with JX provide all you need to know and more. We highly recommend JX Event venue for a beautiful, welcoming environment for all! We will forever cherish our special day at JX Event Venue.

We had the best day of our lives on our wedding day and picking JX was such a big part of that! So many wonderful things I could say about every little detail! The town, location, ceremony/dinner/reception setup, the beautiful look of the venue were all so amazing. The first time we knew we picked the right venue was because of Emily!! Especially being a same sex couple that was a concern if we would feel comfortable and she did not disappoint. She along with our day of coordinator, Cory were so kind and genuinely happy to see and hear about our love story. Also, having Cory coordinate the whole day was SO worth it, he’s amazing. I hope everyone at JX gets to have him. All the other staff members were so great, we felt like royalty. If you are leaning towards picking JX, just do it. It’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. Wish we could live that day a thousand times over. THANK YOU!!

It’s got the feeling that your in a historic building while still feeling completely modern. We got SO many compliments about JX. All our guests kept commenting on how beautiful the space was. And Emily is just the absolute best to work with! She’s so responsive and helped answer so many questions we had before our big day. We loved our wedding our wedding at JX! It was simply perfect!

We had such a wonderful experience working with JX Event Venue for our wedding ceremony and reception space. We had the opportunity to work with Emily from start to finish and she was amazing! Not only did she keep in continuous contact, but she answered all our questions and made great recommendations for our big day. We loved the natural light, ability to use real candles throughout the space, having all of our events throughout the day in the same building, and the helpfulness from the JX Staff. We received multiple positive comments regarding the space and staff. We cannot recommend JX Event Venue more!!

Cannot recommend this venue enough! All communication was easy and fast! Every single staff member was kind and helpful. We also used the day of coordinator through the venue, Cory, and he absolutely crushed it. The entire wedding went so smoothly due to his and his communication skills! Our guests absolutely LOVED the venue, it is gorgeous and barely needed any extra decorations.

JX is truly the best venue, you can not go wrong. From the location, the ambiance and atheistic, everything could not be more perfect. All of our guests couldn’t believe how amazing JX was. Emily is exceptional at her job and made everything so easy, especially the day of the wedding. We had her as our wedding coordinator as well, and if anything went wrong, we had no idea. She was unbelievable and also extremely flexible. I can not recommend JX and Emily more!

All the amenities from a big space with a long bar, beautiful wood and brick interior, large bridal and groom suites. There is also a photo booth room included that our guests had a blast with! All of this is in the heart of downtown Stillwater. They have a catering service, Bella Vida, that was super easy to work with and the food was phenomenal. All of our guests were raving about it! Emily helped guide us through the entire process and was so helpful with answering questions (in a very timely manner). We felt as though there wasn’t a thing to worry about because JX has so much experience and expertise. Also, at the end of the evening, the Bella Vida employees were extremely kind and helpful - they helped with collecting the center table pieces and clean up. Overall, we had an incredible experience and recommend JX to anyone who wants wants a wedding night that they and their guests will remember forever!

I’ve been in a couple other weddings this year and the layout and spaces JX provides is really very nice. The bar staff was efficient and friendly, the catered you have to use are great and the food portions are huge. The building is beautiful and everywhere in there makes for a great photo background along with the courtyard outside, lakefront, park up the street, and bushes/flowers across the street at the hotel. Only drawback is how much they charge to get into the venue early, we ended up not paying for extra hours so had it from 1-1am and got ready at a VRBO near by.

We have gotten so many comments on the simplicity yet beauty of the building itself; and have heard many times that JX is one of the nicest wedding venues our guests have been to. We worked with Greta for our day of coordinator and she is simply amazing. She transformed the space into everything we could have imagined and was so pleasant to work with. Emily and Kallan were always quick with getting back to us and keeping us in the loop. The getting ready rooms for the wedding party were amazing to have on site with easy access to them all night long. The venue also has a photo booth with access to all of the pictures a few days after the wedding which was a hit with our guests. Definitely recommend this venue to anyone considering it!

She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and fun to work with. She has many great recommendations that made the wedding planning process much easier and less stressful. We booked the JX Venue once restrictions were lifted, and Emily was so helpful and worked with us as we figured out what the state of the pandemic would be when we did get married. Not only is the venue just absolutely beautiful, but Emily really was a superstar! She walked us through everything and answered my many questions before the actual day. She even let my dad and I practice our dance in the actual venue the day before so we could feel confident in our spacing. We have received so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was and we couldn't be happier!

So many great things about JX! The staff was great. They only told us yes! From getting a slideshow on the TVs to always responding quickly to our emails they were always helpful. The security guard even gave a guest a ride home at the end of the night when they’re Lyft canceled on them! Emily was great to work with on all our planning needs. Not only does it look great but is ideal for location to hotels and other bars as you host. Great picture spots are a close walk away. Between the dance floor, the bar and the photo booth, your guests are always involved in the party to keep the energy high and making it a great night.

They were super accommodating and truly wanted to make everything easier on me (the bride). The large space was definitely a great option for social distancing and all of our guests told us they felt super safe. I recommend getting the package that includes the day of coordinator as they were super helpful. We got so many compliments on the venue, everyone loved the bar AND the built in photobooth. It was fun because we got to see all of the photobooth pictures afterwards and it will be a great memory to look back on. Choosing JX for my wedding venue was one of the best decisions I made for the most important day of our lives. The entire staff is SO friendly and professional, they were always ready to answer any question/request we had. The interior is absolutely beautiful, it took very little in the way of decor to elevate the space for our stunning wedding. They have thought of every detail, you will be so glad you chose this gorgeous spot to wow your guests and make your day absolutely perfect.

Choosing JX for my wedding venue was one of the best decisions I made for the most important day of our lives. The entire staff is SO friendly and professional, they were always ready to answer any question/request we had. The JX was fabulous to work with! We had Emily as our day-of coordinator and she was so pleasant and so on top of things I didn’t have 1 worry going into the day. She managed all of the setup and coordination with the caterers, florists, band, etc. and it made the reception run so smoothly. Our 6 week meeting with Emily was also crucial in making me feel comfortable with the flow of events and helped to answer any questions I had. I would 100% recommend having your reception at the JX and hiring Emily as your day-of coordinator. Outside of working with Emily, the bar at the JX is so unique and is perfectly set up so the bar is in the same area as the dance floor, while also not being entirely removed from the dining area. The bartenders were so accommodating and our guests loved them!

There are not enough WONDERFUL things to say about JX Event Venue. Beauty, joy, professionalism, personalization, cheer, teamwork, genuine care, fun, life changing are all the words that come to mind as I think back on our time working with JX, from our first visit to cleanup hour after the wedding was complete. It was the warm and and embracing yet breathtaking feeling we got on our walk up the stairs that first caught our attention at JX. With the freedom to explore the space and get creative in our first meeting, my husband and I could finally (after viewing many venues) envision our wedding and see ourselves at the alter. It was then the absolute family care felt by the JX staff that clinched the deal. Taking time to walk though 365 days of options while listening to every desire and idea and genuine assurance that we would get everything we envisioned made us feel so comfortable and incredibly confident in booking JX as our venue (for ceremony and reception)! We ended up having to plan our wedding from out of state and the JX staff helped with every little detail and question along the way. As the wedding approached, the staff was so flexible with everything we needed from helping us with an informal walk through to extra time to set up (that made the WORLD of a difference come wedding day). The event lead (Taylor) and bar/event lead (Emily) made sure everything looked even better than I could have envisioned it myself. They took in every personalized detail and helped my family execute it in the best way that fit the venue. They helped design our alter space that still makes my heart jump as I think of walking though the candle glow to my groom surrounded by beautiful pine and a strong wooded cross. It was perfect. We truly came to LOVE the staff and they were a HUGE part of our wedding that I will always be thankful for. The ongoing support throughout the wedding night, in set up and clean up was unparalleled. The dance floor was the absolute best vessel for a thriving party that lasted far past last call!!! Our guests were (and STILL are!) raving about our venue and how personal and elegant it and incredibly FUN was. Many comments that one was he best wedding ever!!!! My husband and I are SO glad that we laid the foundation of our marriage down at JX Event Venue. You will NOT be sorry you did so as well!

We could not be happier with JX Event Venue! We planned our wedding for 320 people from Seattle, WA, and JX made everything so easy and stress-free! Emily, Cory, and Dayna went above and beyond to make sure that everything went seamlessly the day of, and we received so many compliments from our guests. The bartenders and photo booth were a big hit as well! The building is so beautiful that we barely needed any decorations. During the planning process, Emily was very helpful and knowledgeable with details we hadn't decided on yet, and answered questions/updated requests up until the day of our event. They recommended some of our other vendors, and not only were they all wonderful, but they all worked together like magic. We literally did not worry about a single thing. So happy we chose JX! :)

The JX venue itself is a beautiful venue and big to accommodate a lot of guests, it is exactly what we visioned when it came to the venue, a historic loft with exposed brick and beautiful chandeliers!! They have these amazing getting ready rooms but it costs you an extra fee per hour in order to use them which is a bummer, when you are already dishing out so much money for the venue already. Annie was AMAZING to work with, she answered all my questions and I was sad when she had left because of how awesome she was! Once someone new was taking over they did not communicate nearly as fast as Annie did..which is frustrating for a bride! Dayna was also very wonderful to work with!! One thing that did make me mad was that friends of the owner came upstairs and started taking my desserts that I paid for!! Very rude. Other than that the rest of the staff was nice and the bartenders were great!!

We don't normally spend time in Stillwater, but as soon as we saw photos online we knew that we couldn't celebrate our wedding anywhere else. The exposed brick and wood floors pair so nicely with the stunning chandeliers that we didn't feel the need to \"dress up\" the place.In my opinion, venues are lovely to look at, but what really makes a venue stand out is the team within it.The team at JX Event Venue was hands down the most genuine, kind, amazing staff I have ever worked with. Every request was received with a listening ear, and if I needed guidance, I could always count on the team for their honest opinion and creative, \"out of the box\" ideas. As a DJ who has experienced literally hundreds of other venues, JX stands out above every single one. They're really in a league of their own. Of course there are other venues that I love, but JX somehow scores a 10/10 on every category there is: venue space, decor, staff, photography, management, bartending, high fives... everything.

Our dreams came true at the JX! From the minute I walked in I knew JX was where we should have our wedding. Aside from its beauty, the staff is so wonderful. It was a pleasure working alongside Annie, she was so accommodating and answered any/all of my questions extremely fast. We got married on Friday, September 28th and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. For any brides - consider renting out the bridal suite to get ready in, it made the experience so much fun for me and the girls and the space is plenty big to bring in your wedding makeup/hair vendors. Emily was also so great with our bar order. We had requested that champagne be waiting for us in the grooms room after the ceremony and it was, along with flutes so we could all toast to a lifetime of happiness. Thanks for everything, JX!

I held a corporate event for my customers and they all raved about the setting and service. The planning was stress free because they are extremely helpful and organized. Beautiful venue!! We received so many compliments on how wonderful our venue was. Annie was great to work with and responded to emails very quickly. Annie was assigned as our coordinator throughout the planning process and from start to finish the service was tremendous. She was always quick to respond and super helpful. She would personally reach out to décor vendors for us and setup service for our wedding day. The venue is breathtaking and our guests continue to talk about how beautiful the setup was. JX has so many unique features to offer including, the Bourbon Room, VIP Room and the amazing chandelier in the entrance! The staff on the day of the wedding were friendly, accommodating and payed attention to every little detail to make our big day perfect! We would highly recommend JX for your event.

My husband and I had the most AMAZING wedding experience at JX Event Venue. The staff and photographers were there for us every step of the way, didn't get annoyed at any of our questions (we like to ask a lot), were extremely fun to work with, and the day went off better than we could have imagined. The whole day was PERFECT! In addition to being so much fun they were organized and kept things moving along and helped in any way they could. I got overheated and felt sick for part of the time. Judd immediately helped out by getting air, food and water. He could double as a personal attendant! :) In addition to our feelings about the staff and venue, our guests were continuously saying how great everyone was and how beautiful the venue is. JX and Judd Sather & Studio J Photography will forever have a costumer in us. We are already trying to find random reasons to have our pictures taken again! I would recommend to anyone and everyone!!

As a wedding planner/coordinator, we LOVE working at the JX Venue! This is one of our favorite venues to work at. The venue is gorgeous and truly one of a kind. We are excited to be a preferred vendor with the JX Venue and One23 Events. We also recently helped Eliza at JX plan a styled shoot which turned out to be absolutely stunning! Eliza was great to work with as she was professional, friendly and stayed on top of the shoot and organized all of the vendors throughout the process. We recently had our wedding at the JX Event Venue and couldn’t have been happier. This place is a hidden gem. Being in quaint downtown Stillwater made us feel like we had a destination wedding. \tJX was the first place we looked at and we fell in love. Every place that we looked at after didn’t compare. The space is absolutely gorgeous. The combination of rustic and modern allows you to transform the space to express your style. They have cool furniture and unique walls to take awesome wedding photos. We had our ceremony and reception there. It was wonderful to have everything in one place. Our wedding was in January and our guests were so appreciative that they didn’t have to travel. The transition between ceremony and reception was seamless. \tThe photo both at JX was an awesome addition. Our guest had so much fun with it. We had a blast looking at pictures after the wedding. A photo booth wasn’t even something on our list of things. The fact that it is just a part of JX makes it such a cool added bonus. \tAnother bonus to JX is their bar. Not only is it beautiful, it is huge!! They were generously staffed for the wedding and our guests didn’t have to wait for a drink. \tThe best part of having our wedding at JX wasn’t even the beautiful building, it was their staff. We worked with Annie quite a bit throughout the planning. I cannot say enough good things about her. She was phenomenal. She is so professional, yet fun to work with. She cares about every little detail and is able to execute them with perfection. Her communication is excellent. She responded to every email quickly and accommodated every request. The day of Annie was great. My friends and family commented on how nice she was to work with. I can honesty say that everything the day of went perfect and I contribute that to Annie. If something did go wrong, we didn’t know about it…. Annie just took care of it. We didn’t have to worry about a thing, we were able to just enjoy the day!\tWe worked with Emily on our bar needs. She was just as wonderful. We kept changing our mind on what to order for drinks and Emily was great about it every step of the way. We even ran out of beer and had to buy more kegs on the fly. Emily was so cool about it, she had one waiting and ready to go. The bar staff the night of the wedding was so fun. They had a blast with our guest and were truly having a good time. We had so many guest come up to us and say how fun the staff was at JX. We recently had our wedding at the JX Event Venue and couldn’t have been happier. This place is a hidden gem. Being in quaint downtown Stillwater made us feel like we had a destination wedding. \tJX was the first place we looked at and we fell in love. Every place that we looked at after didn’t compare. The space is absolutely gorgeous. The combination of rustic and modern allows you to transform the space to express your style. They have cool furniture and unique walls to take awesome wedding photos. We had our ceremony and reception there. It was wonderful to have everything in one place. Our wedding was in January and our guests were so appreciative that they didn’t have to travel. The transition between ceremony and reception was seamless. \tThe photo both at JX was an awesome addition. Our guest had so much fun with it. We had a blast looking at pictures after the wedding. A photo booth wasn’t even something on our list of things. The fact that it is just a part of JX makes it such a cool added bonus. \tAnother bonus to JX is their bar. Not only is it beautiful, it is huge!! They were generously staffed for the wedding and our guests didn’t have to wait for a drink. \tThe best part of having our wedding at JX wasn’t even the beautiful building, it was their staff. We worked with Annie quite a bit throughout the planning. I cannot say enough good things about her. She was phenomenal. She is so professional, yet fun to work with. She cares about every little detail and is able to execute them with perfection. Her communication is excellent. She responded to every email quickly and accommodated every request. The day of Annie was great. My friends and family commented on how nice she was to work with. I can honesty say that everything the day of went perfect and I contribute that to Annie. If something did go wrong, we didn’t know about it…. Annie just took care of it. We didn’t have to worry about a thing, we were able to just enjoy the day!\tWe worked with Emily on our bar needs. She was just as wonderful. We kept changing our mind on what to order for drinks and Emily was great about it every step of the way. We even ran out of beer and had to buy more kegs on the fly. Emily was so cool about it, she had one waiting and ready to go. The bar staff the night of the wedding was so fun. They had a blast with our guest and were truly having a good time. We had so many guest come up to us and say how fun the staff was at JX. JX was fantastic and breathtaking! Annie was so helpful during our planning process. She answered any and all questions we had and made suggestions that were helpful. She even helped us find some dart boards that we wanted for our reception! The space is simply beautiful and you can do so much with it. Parking on the street is easy or the ramp is inexpensive. We are so happy we got married at JX.

I've been watching it's progress as it was being built and attended functions put on by the owner but to be able to work in this space was outstanding! The attention to detail, the hospitality, the space itself.... it was truly a joy! Having shot in many other venues, what stands out to me is the consistent look and feel and relaxed atmosphere of the space with a very sophisticated and clean look. There are many areas for private conversation and guests to mingle and stay entertained, from the bar, dining area, grand staircase, entry, to the fireplace and couch areas - and that doesn't include the spectacular bridal suite and grooms space! Just a treat! I cannot wait to work with my next JX Event Venue couple!

Absolutely stunning venue! Very large and flexible space to customize it to work for you. Beautiful details and great amenities throughout. Annie was great to work with, super responsive and helpful! Would highly recommend! It is costly though.

Our April 29th wedding reception at JX Event Venue was beyond perfect. We received so many comments on how beautiful the space was. They did an absolutely wonderful job renovating the building combining modern technology while keeping the beautiful historic charm. The exposed brick and beams were stunning, especially when you add in the cafe lights and chandeliers. We worked with Janelle who was so incredibly helpful and pleasant to work with and all the staff we encountered the day of, from the bar staff to the wonderful doorman (who was kind enough to keep an eye on my grandma when she'd go outside!) were nothing short of professional and welcoming. The amount of space is amazing and never felt too crowded (plenty of space between tables!) or too empty! The built in photo booth was a HUGE hit, with many people saying they were so excited the room was big to fit a lot of people and receiving all the photos afterwards is a great touch as well. The Bridal Suite and Bourbon Room are incredibly fun and spacious spots to hang out and get ready in, and it was so nice to have a secure spot throughout the day. Having the option to use the gorgeous wood farm tables was great and made our head table feel warm and homey and looked beautiful. It was all so wonderful and I am so happy we celebrated our special day here!!

Our April 29th wedding reception at JX Event Venue was beyond perfect. We received so many comments on how beautiful the space was. My husband and I got married at JX on October 7th, and we could not be more pleased with our venue choice. JX was PERFECT for our vintage/rustic luxe wedding theme. The atmosphere felt romantic, modern, elegant, luxurious, enchanting, and charming all at once. We LOVED the wood floors, windows, open concept, exposed brick walls and rafters, stunning chandeliers, ivory chiavari chairs.. to name a few! Everything was exceptional! Not to mention, the staff was excellent. So helpful, so friendly, so willing to go out of their way to make your day the best it can be. We specifically appreciate Annie, the venue Manager. She was OUTSTANDING. We cannot thank her enough for her assistance, patience, and generosity. We hands down would recommend JX to anyone looking for a wedding venue. We are so thankful we chose JX Event Venue, and we are already looking for excuses to go back and visit for future events!

Our team was a vendor for the Big Fake Wedding, the first event to take place at JX Venue and we were SO impressed. The space has truly been customized to be perfect for weddings. The space features a beautiful bridal suite, a lounge area outside the restrooms, a small kitchen, a photobooth, huge bar, and plenty of space to accommodate a large group for a wedding + reception. i I loved the brick walls, wood beams, and large windows and I know the photographers for the event did as well. The venue is just a few blocks up from the river and located near many sweet and cozy places for your guests to stay.
