Kualoa Ranch Private Nature Reserve is a 4,000 acre wedding venue location on Oahu, Hawaii, about 22 miles outside of Waikiki, on the eastern shores of the island. Managed and owned by eight generations of the Judd-Morgan family, who are committed to preserving the culture and natural beauty of the land, it is a beautiful and unique venue for weddings. If Kualoa looks familiar in pictures, it is probably because it has had over 170+ Hollywood Movies and TV shows filmed since Elvis came back in the 1950's! The ranch has also been featured in other blockbusters such as Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, LOST, Kong:Skull Island, 50 First Dates, Hawaii Five-0 and more.
Located at the base of the Kanehoalani Mountain peak, the amazing tropical Paliku Gardens can accommodate up to 100 guests in the open-aired pavilion and 250 guest on the lush lawn area. Paliku has been the site of a few celebrity events including Michelle Obama and the Dalai Lama.
Services Offered
Kualoa Ranch & Private Nature Reserve allows you to design your own wedding celebration and use your own catering, bartenders, florists, etc. Kualoa is just being the amazing back drop for your special day. We do have a list of potential vendors that have worked with Kualoa over the years, and their information is available if you need their services. We do require a licensed wedding coordinator at each event, and we can send a full list of approved coordinators upon your request.
The team at Kualoa was amazing, so kind and responsive, they offer so many options and helpful pamphlets/information for vendors, etc. Which is how we found our wonderful wedding planner/venue, I have been in contact with them for over a year and they have been great. My husband and I booked Jumanji for our wedding day for our reception and venue. We also booked secret island for day of fun for the day after the wedding. Both ran smooth and the venues are absolutely STUNNING. The cows as a back drop at Jumanji made our entire wedding š the guests couldnāt stop commenting on the day of the wedding or next day for secret island on the locations but also how well ran it was. They gave us a discount code for booking our wedding with them for any excursions we wanted to do during the time we were in town, for us and our guests. I HIGHLY recommend the excursions, they are fantastic. Our guests loved this.Their team is so friendly and welcoming. To wake up the day after your wedding and have everything at ease and calm was incredible, they treated us like family. We even had a photographer come out and take underwater photos of us, they had no issues with it and assisted our group effortlessly, we had a HUGE group so it was incredibly helpful. You can obviously see by the pictures how beautiful the backdrops are.If you are looking for a spot to book your venue, do an excursion, or an outing, Kualoa is the way to go. Reviewed on 20-12-2023

If you like tropical nature, Kualoa is the whole package. There are 360 degrees of absolutely breathtaking views. The space was so intimate and having the bridal suite right on site was such a treat. Being able to walk out and take in the space in between getting your hair and makeup done, felt extremely special. Those small moments created a special memory when looking back on the day. We loved everything they have to offer; the covered pavilion, the reception space, and the incredible ceremony space between the palm trees. 10/10 would recommend Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch! This was the most gorgeous wedding venue! I don't know if it's the magic of having the Ko'olau mountains on one side and then having the ocean and Mokoli'i island on the other but we were mesmerized the moment we set our eyes on those mountains. Most of our guests have never been to Hawaii and we wanted them to experience the sheer majesty of this venue as well. Our guests were speechless to say the least. They did not know where to look next because everything looked so beautiful. Not only were we able to have this place as our wedding venue, we were able to return the following day for a UTV Raptor tour and show our guests even more of Kualoa Ranch! Reviewed on 23-10-2023

Kualoa Ranch was a beautiful location for our wedding. Their team was so easy to work with and provided all of the information we needed quickly. The price for the venue was reasonable, but just want those not from the area know that the other expenses to have your wedding at this location do add up since it is 45 minutes from Honolulu (transportation) and you have to bring in a caterer. But still, very reasonably priced for the location and what they offer. We married at Paliku Gardens so there was a covered space for our dinner, bridal suite with air conditioning (necessary for our northern plains relatives, kitchen and restrooms. The photos are a better review than anything I can write. Reviewed on 19-10-2023

The team at Kualoa Ranch were super responsive and more than gracious to answer any questions we had about the venues Kualoa Ranch offers. Ultimately, we went with Moli'i Gardens because of our vision of a garden wedding with the mountains in the background. I will have to note, this venue pretty much is a blank slate. They do include chairs and tables (100 chairs, 20 tables total,) but everything else you will need to coordinate and book. It felt daunting at first, but it is definitely doable with the right support (you NEED a coordinator to book with Kualoa Ranch,) and thoughtful planning. We had a destination wedding at Moliāi Gardens and despite living in a different state on a different time zone, the staff was easy to communicate with via email throughout the process and were knowledgeable and helpful. We booked Kualoa Ranch Catering for our cocktail hour and dinner and everything was fresh and delicious. The executive chef, Chef Kimo, was extremely helpful, friendly, had great suggestions, and was easy to work with. Ourselves and our guests really enjoyed the food! We were able to schedule a venue walk-through prior to our wedding, which was really helpful to map out reception layout with our planner. We also were able to schedule a photoshoot for wedding day portraits at Secret Island, which was a really special and fun experience to go on the catamaran for some additional portraits. Because Kualoa is such a busy venue, both the walk-through and the additional photoshoot location could only be scheduled one month out. As a result, we had to be flexible regarding walk-through dates and for an additional photo location, we booked our 2nd choice, since the first choice was already bookedā however, it worked out wonderfully and we ended up loving Secret Island! Moliāi Gardens was such a beautiful venue for our wedding and we had an amazing time! The only potential downsides would be 1) not having the ability to schedule certain things more than one month out and 2) some of the facilities like the restrooms and bridal suite at the venue are a bit on the older side (totally not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind for getting ready photos, we had ours taken at a hotel instead because of this). We would always say what a beautiful area it was and if we get married this would be the spot. Fast forward 3 years and just last weekend we tied the knot right there at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch. It goes without saying the space is perfect for a wedding (our guest count was approx 100 people) and all our guests loved the backdrop. As the bride, I did use the bridal suite with my ladies and thought it was simple and nice. Had all the necessary things like a really good AC unit, a nice couch area and a private bathroom. Note there are no windows, so pictures do have to be taken outside. The staff were incredible to work with, responded fast and surely made the day perfect. The small thing I'd mention as a bit of a negative is the grass area near the top of the pavilion where we had our tent set up was pretty brown compared to what I saw when I toured in December. There are multiple ceremony and reception sites to choose from even within Paliku Gardens! Due to the large lawns, I was not worried about it being too crowded even with a high guest count. The fact that this venue was highly customizable for me made it that much more appealing because I could really make this wedding representative of who we are.Leila was very communicative throughout the entire process and made sure that we were always on the same page. There is also an ad-on space called Hale Kupuna (I call it the groom room) that can be reserved for an additional fee ($500 I believe). I really have nothing bad to say about this venue except for that the bridal suite, while very cute, has subpar lighting (no windows). Unfortunately, I do not love any of the bridal portraits we took inside of the suite. The \"groom room,\" however, was totally worth the extra cash. It has big windows, lots of natural light, and is very close to the main site. I would've definitely gotten ready in there instead of the bridal suite had I know it also offered a/c.---Paliku Gardens was perfect for our intimate wedding of 25. They offer multiple venue options, and most of them come with \"packages\" that include tables, chairs, bathrooms, kitchen access, etc depending on which venue you select. Leila (the main wedding coordinator for Kualoa) and her entire team at Kualoa Ranch are a blessing from the wedding heavens. They are professional, responsive, and super helpful from day one. We were a COVID couple, so we had to struggle with multiple rescheduling attempts and changes to plans, but Kualoa was super accommodating and understanding throughout the whole process. We personally chose Low Camp, which is a completely remote location (meaning no electricity or bathrooms, just a cute little water hose for water access) located in the most beautiful Ka'awa valley (literally where Jurassic park and various other films were shot). This gave us the freedom to completely design the wedding ourselves (with the help of a wedding planner of course). Requirements may have changed since COVID happened, but I believe all the venues you are permitted to bring in your own preferred vendors (food, alcohol, rentals, etc), and Leila provides a very nice list for you to choose from if you don't have any ideas of your own. Popular dates and weekends book up quickly, so I would recommend reserving a date for your venue at least 1 year in advance (especially for the popular sites like Paliku gardens, Secret island, etc). I don't know what else to say except if you are even thinking about having any kind of outdoor wedding, schedule a visit with Kualoa Ranch, you will not regret it! Reviewed on 04-06-2021
Kim Morrissett(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-05-2021 Paliku Gardens at Kualoa RanchPlanning a wedding during a pandemic isn't easy for anyone. It's even harder to plan it on a site you've never visited before, but Leila and her team provided us with the best experience one can have prepping for a destination wedding. Getting married at Paliku Gardens was an absolute dream. The pictures of this venue don't even do it justice. It's a wonderful change of scenery from your typical Hawaiian beach wedding, and there are so many options on how you can lay out your ceremony and reception at this location alone. The price was very reasonable and their team was very professional. You will not be disappointed with this venue and everything it has to offer. I cannot recommend this place enough. We kept the intimate boat ride over to the private beach island as a surprise to our guest and they were all blown away by the beauty. It definitely added another element. During every tour, rehearsal, event my fiance and I were so happy with the beauty and the privacy of the venue. The people who work there were always really nice and professional as well. The team at Kualoa, especially Leila, helped make our dream a reality! We are so happy we were able to get married at Kualoa, and the venue has breathtaking views. Racheal K(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-04-2020 Wedding was scheduled at Paliku Gardens for April 27, 2020, which was involuntarily canceled because Kualoa Ranch was closed due to the shelter-in-place. No one from Kualoa Ranch reached out to us to inform us about the venue closing, and our wedding planner, Justine from Luana Events (Kualoa's preferred vendor), claimed that she found out the exact day we saw the closure on their website, which we found questionable. We were only offered 50% of our deposit back based on their cancellation policy, which shouldn't have applied, as this was not a voluntary cancellation. Per our wedding planner, we were not entitled to a full deposit because Kualoa offered to postpone our event without a fee. Nowhere in our contract does it say this, and it's clearly a ploy to keep as much of the funds as possible. As a destination wedding with family and friends flying in from mainland and internationally...this was convenient for the venue to suggest, but an unreasonable offer for us. It was a lose-lose situation, and the venue clearly doesn't care about us as clients...in the end, it's all about financially benefitting during this pandemic. It's really unfortunate to come across many wedding vendors with this \"tough luck\" attitude. Once they have your money, you are at their mercy, they can do what they want and make up the rules at your expense. Even if a meteor was about to hit the earth, they would still come up with an excuse to keep your money. Zero compassion and empathy. Reviewed on 21-05-2020

The location was just magical and luscious with tropical trees and bushes, and had an incredible view of the ocean. The venue was surprisingly spacious and gave us many options to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception within the same venue, but with different views and scenery. The venue also provides 150 chairs and 15 tables (seats 10 each), a dressing room, a kitchen area (no stovetop), a pavilion (an option if it rains hard), and parking for all your guests. The booking process was easy, and so was the walk-through. Just be aware that you do have to have a day-of coordinator, which we definitely appreciated having. The venue also provides a wedding discount for activities at the ranch if you decide to do pre-wedding activities like we did (highly recommended)! Only thing with Kualoa Ranch is that it is approximately a 35-50min drive for all of your guests from anywhere really, so have a plan for transportation. It is definitely something you should consider when you want an outdoor wedding. Fortunately it was a light sprinkle and our ABC coordinator came prepared with umbrellas for our guests. The photos came out great in the cloudy lighting. We had our Photo perfect HI Photo Booth, buffet from Keene's and dance floor DJ by DJ Neekz under the pavilion. There also was a bridal suite with a/c and restrooms which was great! The venue also comes with some 6ft long tables, round tables, and white resin chairs which we used for our wedding of 72 guests. They are one of the few venues in Oahu that actually allow you to bring all of your own vendors. The venue was huge for our small guest count of 35, but we chose it for the view. Working with Kualoa was rough at first, the coordinator was not upfront about certain details and she changed the finalized contract that was meant to be signed by us. Luckily we noticed the change and requested everything to be corrected. This coordinator was let go from my understanding and after that, everything went smoothly. The equipment that came with the venue (ie the tables and chairs) were all in good condition, the kitchen area was pretty gross and the fridge was very dirty, the heritage room (bridal suite) was dingy and not the best for photos but it was a great place to get ready for the wedding. The bugs were not bad, it did rain the day before and a little bit during the wedding which left the ground very muddy. We absolutely loved it and the pictures just do not do this place justice. Unless you have gone to heaven and back, this is probably the closest thing you can get in Oahu for the splendor and pomp of a party that you will never forget. Of course, a lot of that has to do with decorations and the DJ, but the venue itself gets you 80% there. The mountains as the backdrop, looking up from the lower lawn or even atop at the upper lawn, is ridiculously magnificent to gaze upon. As far as working with Kualoa Ranch, they were generally responsive, but at times did get mixed up with our information. They likely have many inquiries a day, and so it's no surprise that they might get overwhelmed and confuse details with another persons. In any case, in the end it was not an issue. This was a destination wedding for us and we unfortunately could not come out earlier to see the place first but we were very happy with the location and the staff there. Heather was very helpful in giving us advice about where to put tables, cocktail hour, etc. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was there was some crucial information (such as the fact there was 4 square tables available to us in addition to the round tables for the guests) that we could've used before we arrived there on the wedding day. I was also told over email that there will not be any signs to guide the guests to the gardens but actually there were two large signs set up around the ranch to guide the guests! Jennifer Rulon(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-09-2015 We had the ceremony on Secret Island and the reception at Molii Gardens. That way, we had the best of both worlds - the beach and the Koolau mountains. Breathtaking! We really feel that we gave our guests an experience and an adventure - the boat trip, beach, gardens, fishpond, it was all amazing. It's a special place that even some of our Hawaii guests had never been to. Heather at Kualoa was greast to work with, we got the deposit back right away, the gardens were beautifully taken care of, the bathrooms clean, etc. The only thing is the Pavilion at Molii Gardens is a bit rustic, so it makes a huge difference if you get ceiling treatment (draping and lighting). It was the perfect size for 50 guests. Reviewed on 23-09-2015
julie valdez(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-08-2015 We had our wedding ceremony at Secret Island and it was more than what I imagined. The scenery was perfect for us! our guests only had great things to say about our ceremony. We were able to rent the island from 3:30 to 5:30 and there is a fee if we stay over 5:30. Wish they allowed us to stay a bit longer to take more pictures! The 5 minute boat ride to the island from Molii Gardens was an adventure in itself and the guests loved it! The views of the beach, mountains, and fishpond was just magical! Reviewed on 16-09-2015
Joahna Sandoval-Murchison(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-06-2015 This review is a bad story turned great⦠With so many beautiful places all over the island, we werenāt exactly sure where to have our vow renewal ceremony/reception at. So, once we finally found a spot ā Kualoa Ranchās Paliku Gardens ā it was such a relief. However, with less than 45 days, we were told that our venue had been exclusively bought out by someone more important was devastating to say the least. Everything up until this point was planned for that specific venue. There was so much to do with so little time. At the point when we were going to cancel everything, the ranch stepped up and shared our distress and offered a solution. We were beyond doubtful at this point and was ready to give up even after their proposal. After some hard soul searching, we went for the proposalā¦Kualoa Ranch went above and beyond to accommodate and compensate. My family and wedding guests had the pleasure of being treated by the Kualoa Staff to a complimentary movie site tour and lunch at the Paliku Gardens the day before. This enabled my family and close friends to still experience the breathtaking view of my original chosen site. Might I add that I was also concerned about not being able to get photographs taken at Paliku Gardens since it wouldnāt be available on my big day. However, the ranch still made this possible and even granted us access to capture some of the most beautiful pictures in multiple locations on their ranch. Although, we had to wait until the following day, it was still such a sweet deal. Thank you to the following staff that worked our event at Kualoa: Movie Site Tour guide- Moana; Brunch Buffet Attendants- Kalani & Makanalani; On-Site Facilitator: Socorro; Chef ā Teresa; Cooks - Raye, Makanalani, Louisa, & Gabby; Wait Staff: Captain- Julie, Bartender- Molly, Head Table - Joseph, Waiters- Edna, Jason, Brian, Morgan, & Elizabeth; Our driver during our photography session- Will A.; and Boat Driver for photography session - Mike L.. Last but certainly not least, we want to especially thank Charelle Silva. Charelle was our coordinator that had been working with us since day 1 and not one time did she ever fell short of trying to work with us. She was very prompt with her response and I couldnāt even tell you how many emails I have pushed out to her because it was that many. She always had a calm demeanor to her and was genuine and always had a smile. I have to admit, despite the huge hiccup and me feeling like the world was over (lol), at the end of the day, everything turned out to be more than we expected from the venue, food, and service. If we could do it all over againā¦I would still choose Kualoa Ranch with Charelle as our coordinator =) Reviewed on 09-07-2015
Sarah Young(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-01-2015 We just had our wedding at Paliku Gardens two weeks ago, and it was simply wonderful! You cannot go wrong with Kualoa Ranch. \r\rFirst of all, the view is AMAZING! All of our guests were in awe. The pictures were just incredible because we had one of the most beautiful backdrops possible. \r\rEveryone at Kualoa was such a pleasure to work with. Charelle was so helpful. I don't know what I would have done without her. She had great suggestions and advice, which was perfect for bride like me. I had no clue where to start when it came to planning a wedding. Charelle's guidance was invaluable. \r\rSoccoro was our on-site facilitator the day of the wedding, and she did a fantastic job. She thought of everything we didn't and she kept everything running smoothly. The waitstaff and bartender were also awesome! Our day went off without a hitch.\r\rAll of the preferred vendors were great, and such a pleasure to work with. \r\rWe got so many compliments from our guests. They loved the view, the food, and the decorations. Everyone had a great time! I highly recommend Kualoa Ranch to anyone wanting a beautiful wedding in Hawaii at a reasonable price for the area. Meagan Hasenoehrl(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-08-2014 The second we visited Kualoa Ranch, we knew we had to get married there! Taking a boat out to Secret Island was an intimate and magical experience, and we were all in awe of the backdrops and landscapes between the ocean and mountains. Our guests all raved that is was the most amazing wedding venue they had ever experienced. \r\rThe service on our wedding day was perfect, the wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The venue pricing is reasonable, and they just started catering with ingredients from the ranch - the food was wonderful. \r\rThe only downside was the additional percentage we had to pay for service fees and waiter costs, which extended our budget more than we were expecting. Fortunately they were willing to work with us on lowering the cost after some back and forth, which we were very happy about. \r\rThe staff is a little unresponsive since they have so many events every week, but it's well worth the experience. On the day of our wedding the service and atmosphere couldn't have been better, it all came together perfectly. \r\rOverall - we highly recommend considering this place for your wedding, it was a beautiful venue, a unique and unbeatable experience, and everyone had a blast!!
