Kellen McColl(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-09-2022 Lisa and her team helped us create our absolute dream wedding. It created such a great atmosphere to have everyone on site for the whole weekend. Food was not a hight priority on our list when choosing venues, but the Sugar Bowl catering exceeded all expectations. There was not one moment that we were stressed with the planning process because everyone on the Sugar Bowl team was readily available to answer questions and make our vision come true. The venue is pretty much all inclusive, so the only other vendors we needed were florists, DJ, and photographer which really helped alleviate the stress leading up to the wedding. Lisa, the Weddings and Special Events Manager was fantastic. She answered every phone call, text, email in timely manner and was very communicative throughout the months leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding, she made the entire night run so smoothly. We honestly would not ask for a better evening. The food and beverage staff were phenomenal. All of our guests were so impressed with the food and the drinks. The bartender Bob also made it very special for our guests. He created delicious and unique drinks that all of the guests really enjoyed. Overall our wedding at Sugar Bowl was so unique, fun, and everything we ever envisioned on our wedding day. The location is stunning and even better than the pictures show. We had to switch up our schedule on the fly because of weather and the guest raved about how seamless it was all handled by the Sugar Bowl team. We waited out the rain indoors, they served out guests drinks and appetizers early, then once the weather subsided, they hustled to get everything ready and we were still able to have the outdoor wedding of our dreams. The event felt very personal and unique. All our guests loved staying at the lodge and accommodations were better than we expected.Lisa, Sarah and the Sugar Bowl staff were wonderful to work with. Christel Kamerow(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-06-2022 We found Sugar Bowl through a wedding video on YouTube. We knew we wanted a destination wedding close to Tahoe and we were already in the area when we called Lisa (the Weddings and Special Events Manager) the day before to book a site visit and she was very accommodating. We toured the premises and loved Lake Mary, the Lodge and the unique aspect of the chair lift. Our favorite part about the venue though was how the Lodge would be all ours for the entire weekend and it would be a private space for our guests. We booked the venue in July 2020 and because of Covid-19, we had to postpone the wedding from 2021 to 2022. Lisa and her team were so flexible and accommodating with our request. We did a site visit and taste testing on April 2022 and that was when we discovered how amazing the staff there was. The chef (Chef Mark) met with us as well as the property manager (Justin). Apart from the staff being so wonderful, the food was exquisite and the wine was impressive (imported from France, Spain, and Germany). The wedding weekend came and again, the Sugar Bowl staff went above and beyond their duties. We had planned to do the chair lift experience for Cocktail Hour and their staff had worked for a week and a half to try to clear the snow from the venue up the hill. They had fresh paint in the Belt Room Bar where we were going to have a welcome party. Jose Yi, the Hotel and Property Rentals Manager, worked hard to ensure that all the guests were booked in the rooms I assigned them to and allowed me to leave gifts in each of their rooms. Ean, the overnight hotel concierge helped us put up decor late at night, and Giselle, the housekeeper, did an amazing job cleaning all the rooms for us all weekend. The waiters and waitresses (Tony, Mary, etc) took care of us during breakfast and dinners, making sure we had everything we needed, and the bartenders made the experience at the bar so fun. Every single one of the staff members made such an impact on each of our guests. We also realized on Friday that it was going to rain during our wedding events (Saturday and Sunday) and we had planned all of them to be outdoors. However, Lisa and Sarah (wedding coordinator) sat down with me and came up with a Plan B for having the wedding ceremony and reception indoors. The staff once again worked hard to clean and set up Judah Lodge for the Ceremony and prepare the Sugar Bowl Lodge to house the Cocktail Hour and Reception. We had guests saying it was the best wedding they've ever been to and they had the time of their lives. We are so grateful to the Sugar Bowl Staff for all you've done to accommodate our needs and for having such a magical venue for couples to celebrate such a memorable occasion. The day at the lake on Friday before the rehearsal dinner was a great way to greet all of our friends and family, was a lot of fun, and made wedding day a lot less stressful. Tammy helped us out with our food tasting and was there on wedding day and is a treasure. Lisa is the new coordinator there and did a terrific job keeping us organized. We recommend using the Disney lift if you can--such a treat to go up there to signature cocktails, friends, family, and music with a view. We also had a kid-friendly wedding (we had ~25 kids there!) and the lawn games were clutch. Beautiful day, fantastic venue, can't recommend the whole experience highly enough. Reviewed on 05-10-2019

Every single thing about this day was so special and perfect thanks to the amazing Sugar Bowl staff. We had an unforeseen wedding venue change at the last minute, and the staff and the new wedding coordinator Lisa could not have been more accommodating. I will start first with the food, my husband and I had lower expectations for the food (this is a ski resort after all), but during our tasting the food blew us away! The food and beverage manager Tammy even did a complimentary wine paring with the wines we would be serving at our wedding (which were great)! After the wedding our friends are still talking about how good the food was!The venue: We ended up getting married at the Sugar Bowl lodge and WOW. The venue is spectacular. We got married on the lawn with a river running in the background (very romantic). The cocktail hour was in the bar/on the deck and we had lawn games set out which everyone loved. We then had the dinner and dancing on the deck overlooking the mountain. The staff was incredible about putting out umbrellas and parcels to block the sun during the dinner, then taking everything down and replacing the umbrellas with heat lamps after the sun went down. Lisa is the new coordinator this year and did a fantastic job. We were so impressed with how she handled everything from start to finish, from helping us pick out our signature cocktail, to making sure the lawn and flowers were perfect. We also had Sugar Bowl set out our flower arrangements and they did a great job putting everything out perfectly. Overall, the scenery was stunning, the staff helpful, the food delicious, and the weekend unforgettable. We made a long weekend out of it. On Thursday we had an outdoor movie night, and Sugar Bowl provided the guests with popcorn and soda. They even had blankets when it got cold! On Friday a bear stumbled across the property, and all of our out-of-state guests at the Lodge LOVED it (how did you do it Allison?!?) The same day we had the rehearsal dinner at Lake Mary, which was so lovely as we got to spend the day down at the lake. Everyone in the wedding was invited to the Lake (not the rehearsal), and Sugar Bowl provided us with stand up paddle boards and a canoe! People LOVED that. We brought some food and people wandered in an out over the course of the day. I HIGHLY recommend this option.Saturday was perfect in so many ways. We did the Disney chairlift, which you should 100% do if it is within your budget. My nephew and his wife couldn't take their infant on the lift, so Allison arranged for them to be driven up in a truck! The food was just AMAZING (we had lamb due to my family's kiwi heritage). The kids could run around on the lawn during the speeches, which they loved. Finally, the staff went the extra mile. One staff member insisted I get to try all the food up at the cocktail hour. Another staff member found my friend's lost jewelry after the event and mailed it back to her free of charge. Everybody was smiling and helpful and just the best. Thanks so much Allison and Hillary! We loved how everything, from rehearsal dinner (Lake Mary) to ceremony (Village Lodge), was so centralized. We loved having the lodge for our family and friends, which gave us a whole weekend to spend time with people who had come from far away - this perk cannot be overemphasized. Our pup was accommodated - the breakfast staff even brought him out a bowl of water in the mornings. Allison made wedding planning completely stress-free. She had 110% handle on the weekend's events, including anticipating my needs, such as rehearsal dinner centerpieces (which I had not planned). The hotel staff was so friendly, not to mention the wait staff at the ceremony, who made sure I got first pick at all the appetizer trays (yes, I was the stereotypical bride who had not eaten all day). People raved about the food, both at the rehearsal dinner and ceremony. We got nothing but positive feedback from our guests, including many saying it was the best wedding they'd ever been to (we agreed, but we're biased!) Ellen Araujo(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2018 We picked Sugar Bowl for our wedding after visiting several other sites in North Lake Tahoe. We settled on Sugar Bowl, because of the great reviews on the Knot, the overall price, the ability for many people to stay in the Lodge, and the fact that they only have one wedding per weekend at the lodge. Many other locations had weddings back to back Fri - Sun. Leading up to the wedding Allison (the venue event coordinator) was good about letting us know what she needed from us and finding ways to help us get all of the detailed pieces from vendors. She handled all our rentals and worked closely with our wedding planner. We had a great experience with our food/beverage tasting and each time we came to visit the site. Our wedding weekend went very smoothly. Allison and her staff were all very friendly, helpful, and eager to assist with anything my husband or I asked for. Our guests were raving about the venue, the food (we did tri-tip, salmon, veggie skewers, garlic mashed potatoes, strawberry salad), the wine, and the flow of the day. Allison was fun to work with, attentive to our many silly questions, and very good at her job. The rest of the Sugar Bowl staff was equally helpful and friendly. Because Sugar Bowl employees do the set up, break down, and everything in between, we were able to have fun with our guests and each other instead of stressing about centerpieces. My husband and I have heard from many of our guests that ours was the most fun and beautiful wedding they have attended. The cocktail hour at the top of Mt. Disney is absolutely worth doing. We had been up there many times in winter, but the wildflowers were going OFF during our late-August wedding, and I'm so excited to see our photographs from up there. Our guests loved the chair lift, as well. We loved not having to find a caterer (Sugar Bowl does catering in-house), and the food was amazing, too! Having many of our guests stay at the Village Lodge with us turned our big day into a fun weekend getaway and gave us more time with our many out-of-town friends and family. We reserved the site earlier in the day to allow us to spend more quality time with friends and family. Everyone had a blast playing with all the water toys on the lake and getting to know each other before the ceremony. I had reviewed how I wanted the tables set up, the arch and all the decor, with Britney. She executed everything perfectly and the site looked even more beautiful than I had imagined. The staff even found our rings in the lawn , which had fallen off our dog, Zoe's, ring bearer pillow as she was walking down the aisle! Juliana Porfido(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-06-2017 First wedding of the season at Sugar Bowl! Where do I even begin...We reserved Sugar Bowl for our June 2017 wedding in February 2016. We didn't start working closely with Meghon (the previous Wedding/Events Manager) until our tasting appointment in February 2017. At the appointment she told us she was leaving and they were close to hiring someone new - enter Allison. She is amazing! She helped me every step of the way. My husband and I met her for the first time a few weeks before our wedding to go over everything. Allison and her assistant Britney could not have done a better job. As you all know, we had a record snow year...so there was major concern we wouldn't be able to get married on the lawn. Allison and Britney came up with a Plan B (Judah Lodge) quickly and made arrangements to bring in the natural/organic look we would have at Village Lodge. LUCKILY, the snow melted enough and the grass dried out for us to have the ceremony at the Village. Allison and Britney set up all the decor exactly how I pictured...from what I remember seeing. It is a blur now. They were very accommodating. We had lawn games, a fire pit with s'mores, lounge furniture...a lot going on. We had around 140 guests. Everyone raved about the food - said it was the BEST wedding food they have eaten. The chairlift made for some awesome photos (we did not do the Disney cocktail hour) and we used the basement downstairs for the after party. We filled the Lodge as well, which was fun having all our family and friends around for the weekend. We also planned a full weekend. Golf or hike on Friday morning, everyone was invited to rehearsal dinner. It created a great atmosphere come wedding day, where everyone had met and hung out already. Everything was perfect, from the weather to set up, to people having the best time. I wouldn't have gone anywhere else for our wedding. Jennifer Labrocca(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-10-2016 I cannot say enough good things about Sugar Bowl Resort. We got married October 1, 2016, and the weather was unusually chilly. The staff at Sugar Bowl clearly has seen it all, and their operation is seamless for all types of weather, which is of course something you cannot control. They made sure all of our guests were comfortable, made great recommendations, and accommodated our last minute requests of providing hot chocolate/coffee etc. during cocktail hour. We were able to still do the ceremony/cocktail outside on a beautiful, sunny crisp autumn day, and Sugar Bowl was able to move us inside for dinner and dancing. Even though it was chilly, we decided to do the Disney Chairlift for cocktail hour, and our guests definitely thought it was the highlight of the wedding. The Sugar Bowl staff, especially Meghon and Amanda, were amazing. TRUST them. The recommendations for vendors they made were spot on. I felt like I could concentrate on getting married, and not wedding planning. And, so many guests came up to me after the wedding and told me how kind and accommodating all of the staff were. One staff member even drove one of our guests to the top of Disney after the chairlift had closed because the guest was unable to go up earlier due to childcare duties. Above and beyond is an understatement. The best part of Sugar Bowl, besides the staff, is having most of your guests in one place at a beautiful setting. Meghon helped us through literally EVERY part of the planning process. She was always responsive to all our questions and provided excellent advice. She made planning this extremely important day enjoyable and without stress! As half our guests were from the East Coast, we wanted to create an entire weekend instead of one day. She met with us at the beginning, responded promptly to the multitude of emails I sent, and made the weekend itself amazing. The wedding planning packet was amazingly helpful, and full of useful information. All of our guests told us this was one of the best weddings they had been to. The best part for me was that we had the venue all weekend long. Guests started arriving on Friday, so I was able to spend so much time with every person. The day of the wedding was hectic, but I felt like I had already connected with each guest so I wasn't as stressed about it on that day. Having the whole site to ourselves made me feel so special, and our event seem so private. I would highly recommend this venue and staff as the perfect place to have your wedding! P.S. If you are looking for a beautiful, unique, and delicious venue, look no further than Sugar Bowl! The fact that guests can stay at the lodge and celebrate all the wedding festivities with you in one place is so convenient and fun! For smaller parties, Lake Mary on the Sugar Bowl property is beyond gorgeous (if you have a larger party, we highly recommend having your rehearsal dinner at the lake). We got married on the lawn at the Village Lodge, had our cocktail hour at the top of the Disney lift, and danced all night on the Village Lodge deck. The Disney lift is definitely an added cost, but it is money well spent. Your guests will love the uniqueness of it all! The Sugar Bowl staff (including the maintenance and housekeeping team) were awesome from the moment we met them. The kitchen not only accommodated and listened to all of our wishes, but made an amazing dinner with tons of options (at a decent price, too!). Meghon Shrewsbury is not only the sweetest wedding coordinator, she can also work with you to create the floral arrangements of your dreams. She was on point with every vendor recommendation I asked for. She is crazy organized, which helped me to also be organized and for everything to go smoothly. Everyone always says something goes wrong at weddings, and honestly, besides starting dinner 15 minutes later than anticipated (due to us taking forever doing photos during cocktail hour) I really can’t think of anything. Everyone said it was some of the best wedding food they’ve ever had, and this even came from our vendors too.\rAdditionally the staff of Sugar Bowl was amazing. Anything we asked for magically happened from hotel staff, housecleaning or event staff. Also, one of our friend’s flights was delayed and landed in Reno at 1am. As you can imagine it’s difficult to find Sugar Bowl in the dark especially when you’ve never been there. The front desk hotel staff sat on the phone at 3am with our friends to help them find their way and ensure they didn’t get lost. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, it felt like we were welcomed into their home.\rEverything was amazing and I can’t thank Meghon and her team enough for our perfect day. We had zero complaints from any guest about anything (amazing, seriously) besides the fact the weekend ended too soon! We can’t say enough positive things and will never forget our weekend at Sugar Bowl. If we had to do it all over again, hands down, without hesitation would we use Sugar Bowl. \r Reviewed on 12-08-2015

Despite this, their most basic package included spectacular lighting and decor, a full weekend of devoted and attentive staff, and floral decorations around the lodge that were coordinated with our wedding flowers and colors! Furthermore, Meghon surprised us with adding her own finishing touches at the ceremony site, which were breathtaking. We asked for a reduced price menu and still received an assortment of main dishes, salads, and appetizers that had even the most foodie of our guests salivating! From the very beginning to the very last moment, the Sugar Bowl team was exquisite. Meghon was the best wedding coordinator I could have imagined. Meghon was always available for questions and was incredibly helpful along with Amanda on making all our dreams come true for our day. When she first told me if we can dream it, they will make it happen, I wasn't sure it was possible. I have never been more happy to be wrong! Every single detail was perfect. Additionally, Chef Alan made the most incredible French-Vietnamese fusion meal for the 140 guests. From the walnut chicken to the filet and custom pho bar... the guests were so happy with the food and could not stop complimenting the chef. The entire crew set up the hotel with flowers, tables, and more to make every guest feel welcome and loved. The fire pit was awesome for s'mores and hanging out each night. The hotel was perfect! We had most of our guests staying at the hotel or in houses on the property. Jose was amazing getting all the rooms sorted out and helping all the guests. Anonymous (groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-08-2014 Our wedding experience at Sugar Bowl was absolutely amazing and perfect. Our plans started with our family arriving on Friday and staying for the weekend.\r \rFriday–Lake Mary barbeque and movie night- As our guests started arriving, we had a casual event to start off the weekend. Early in the day we brought our own coolers and snacks and enjoyed the relaxing and beautiful location. We enjoyed paddleboards, kayaks, etc. on the lake, tossed horseshoes and played a few of our own games we brought along. We didn’t have a wedding party so instead of having a rehearsal dinner, Sugar Bowl set up a great barbeque for us. Later, we enjoyed a movie under the stars, popcorn and s’mores around the fire pit. Sugar Bowl put everything together so well and really took care of everyone.\r\rSaturday–Wedding day- Our ceremony was set up perfectly. It was simple and elegant just as we had wanted, with trees, wildflowers and Mt. Disney as a backdrop. After our short ceremony, the chairlift fired up and took us all to the top for drinks and appetizers. The view is amazing and it was such a great addition to our event. This is such an awesome option that Sugar Bowl offers and we couldn’t imagine not having it part of our wedding memories. Once we returned, our reception was on the deck, which was perfectly set up. The dinner buffet was beautiful and the food was incredible (yes, we were able to enjoy our dinner). We chose not to have a traditional wedding cake so we had Sugar Bowl prepare a dessert for us. They prepared an amazing strawberry shortcake that was fantastic. The night moved into dancing and celebrating with a perfect intimate setting under the mountain stars. We can’t say enough how unique and beautiful Sugar Bowl is and the privacy of having the resort to ourselves made it such a special event for our friends and family.\r\rMeghon was wonderful to work with and kept us on track through all of our planning. We didn’t realize how many details needed attention but Meghon worked with us on the details that were important to us and took care of the rest. When we made it to the day of our wedding, we were relaxed knowing that we were in good hands. Meghon also did our flowers, which came out so beautiful. We selected some of the flowers we wanted and left it to her to put together what we felt were perfect arrangements for us. We started working with Meghon long before we booked our event and she was there for us even after our event was over.\r \rDuring both the barbeque and the wedding, we also worked with Pat who we were quickly impressed with. To be blunt, Pat is a pro who kept every detail of our day on track. Some of the smallest details can mean so much and we really appreciated how well he took care of us.\r\rWhile you might expect that the bride and groom be treated extra special during their wedding weekend, we heard from our guests that all of the staff they encountered was incredibly nice and helpful. From the wait staff, the bartenders, the front desk and to those working in the background cleaning rooms or setting up, everyone was polite and courteous.\r\rLong after our weekend wedding has ended, our friends and family (and us) are still raving about what an awesome wedding we had at Sugar Bowl. It is such a unique venue and a hidden treasure. Sugar Bowl, specifically Meghon, worked with us to create a custom fit wedding that matched us perfectly and we are amazed at how wonderful it all turned out.\r \rTHANK YOU!!!\rLee & Wendy Wells Reviewed on 30-09-2014

Rachel Harmon(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-08-2014 My husband and I got married at the Sugar Bowl Village Lodge on August 23rd. Before I get into just how awesome the staff was the weekend of our wedding, just a few reasons that we chose Sugar Bowl:\r\r1. Compared to the outdoor venues we were looking at the in the San Francisco Bay Area and the other ski resorts in the area, Sugar Bowl was an absolute steal! Plus, included in the price is Meghon, their in-house wedding planner, who seriously kept me sane during the planning process, as well as free lift tickets when you come to do your tasting.\r\r2. The Village Lodge is yours for the weekend. No other people to deal with. Just you and your loved ones. The bridal suite is also comped.\r\r3. It's absolutely beautiful, and the weather is amazing during the summer. We actually had an organized hike during the weekend, and it turned out amazingly.\r\rAs for the wedding itself, I am definitely a Type A person who did a ton of DIY before the wedding. I showed up to Sugar Bowl Friday afternoon and was tired, stressed, and worried about how things would turn out. Come Friday night, though, I was completely relaxed and was able to truly enjoy the wedding weekend. Every time I turned around, something else had been set up perfectly by the staff--decorations, cake, flowers, DJ equipment. I didn't have to lift a finger all weekend. They coordinated everything with the vendors as well. They took care of the entire rehearsal dinner, the post-rehearsal festivities, the wedding, reception, and Sunday brunch. Literally, everything was perfect, and this was huge because it let me bask in the happiness of marrying the man I love. Other people even commented that the staff were able to solve every problem before the guests even knew it was a problem.\r\rThere's also a lot of freedom to customize your wedding into something that reflects you and your partner. Meghon was totally open to all our ideas (even the crazy ones!). We had hiking, yoga, lawn games, post-rehearsal pizza, bride & groom cocktails, and late night s'mores. They also will do customized menus, though we stuck with one of their packages, and it was great.\r\rI would also recommend doing the Disney Lift if it fits within your budget. Guests are still commenting how fun it was. Every single one of our guests (even the grandparents!) went up the lift. On the way up, you'll also have some alone time to just sit with your new husband or wife and enjoy the view.\r\rHonestly, looking back, it was just a perfect weekend because of the amazing venue and staff. We opted to use the Lake Mary location for a lunch time wedding with the SB chef's awesome BBQ lunch spread.\r\rAmanda was so helpful as our day-of coordinator - between Amanda and our DJ, we didn't have to worry about anything the entire day! There was a minor hitch early on with the speaker system we rented from SB, but Amanda was able to have it rigged just in time for the ceremony. Another set of speakers was brought in by the SB staff right after the ceremony for the dancing and Amanda comped us the cost of the speaker rental for the (very minor) hassle.\r\rThe staff, food, and view were perfect - couldn't have asked for a better day! Jessica O'Donoghue(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-07-2013 I’m still in awe at how magical our wedding was at the Sugarbowl Resort.\r\rLet me start by saying we toured Sugarbowl during the winter, in the middle of ski season. We had seen pictures of what it looked like in summertime and it looked great, but we still didn’t know what to expect. \r\rEven without seeing the venue in full bloom, we were sold on Sugarbowl for 1. The fact that they have a package that includes exclusive access to the resort from Friday until Sunday, 2. Rooms were on property, and 3. Meghon, the most amazing wedding coordinator ever.\r\rThe added bonuses that we found once we arraived were the ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS scenery and grounds. The resort is spectacular during the summer time; green, wild flowers, flowing creeks, Lake Mary, hiking trails. Just pure bliss. The exclusive access makes you feel like you’re at your own personal relaxation destination.\r\rMost of our families/friends stayed up there for the weekend. Every day we all got to eat breakfast together and set out on hikes, or to the lake, or whatever event was planned for that day. It was incredible to get to spend such quality time with our friends & family before the wedding, and made it so we really got to enjoy the wedding night (without having to go table to table trying to spend time with everyone) because we had the chance to be with everyone all weekend. \r\rI’m sure a lot of brides can relate to the need to be in control of all the details of your wedding. I was very hesitant to give up control to a wedding coordinator, but Meghon put my worries to ease very quickly. She is a pro. She has put on so many wedding at Sugarbowl, that she made me feel confident that she had everything under control from our first meeting. Everything ran very smoothly, and there were no surprises. Everything I needed to know was told to me well in advance and she answered all of the questions we had (even when we asked them multiple times). Her staff is very professional. Her colleague, Pat handled a lot of the reception and after party details and was equally as fantastic.\r\rIt’s a HUGE relief as a bride or groom to not have to worry about getting the ceremony started on time, setting up tables, flowers, etc., getting everyone in the right order, making sure the wine gets on the tables, getting everything cleaned up afterward, and so on… The coordinator staff handles all of those details, and makes it MUCH more enjoyable for the wedding party and family. I mean, the wedding is supposed to be a celebration not a chore right! And that’s how the staff at Sugarbowl makes sure it is, a spectacular celebration!\rThere are all sorts of activities to choose from. They really can cater to any and all types of weddings. There are SO many options and add-ons, chair lift rides to the top of the mountain for cocktail hour, lakeside dining for the rehearsal dinner, etc. I wish we could have done them all. \r\rThe reception food was delicious. The chef at Sugarbowl really knows how to please a crowd. Everyone raved about the appetizers and dinner! \r\rThere are so many things I can say about our stay and celebration at Sugarbowl, but I’d be writing all day. It’s a very special place and an incredible wedding destination.\rIt’s been 6 weeks since the wedding and our family and friends are still talking about how amazing the weekend and the venue were. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we will always have an incredible memory of our wedding at Sugarbowl.\r Reviewed on 16-08-2013

Meghon, Pat, Lisa, and all the Sugar Bowl wedding crew are amazing. They all went above and beyond any expectations I have of a wedding venue. The food is outstanding, we got lots of compliments on that. DO THE DISNEY CHAIR/COCKTAIL HOUR...SO WORTH IT. Everyone loved it, it was the highlight of the event.\rThe staff is so amazing and provide outstanding unforgettable service. They treat you like a VIP/celebrity status person! So attentive and helpful and approachable. \rMeghon is also outstanding. She made herself available to me all the time and answered all of my questions promptly and thoroughly every time. She even joined my pinterest boards to look at my ideas/colors/overall theme...truly a dream wedding coordinator! \rMeghon also did the flowers for the entire event as well as the rehearsal dinner. They were everything I wanted and envisioned. She worked with me after I had some flowers in her original \"quote\" that I didn't like 100% and changed them to be truly everything I wanted. Emma Williamson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-06-2013 My husband and I were married at Sugar Bowl in June 2013, and it was beyond perfect. I would recommend this venue to anyone. Meghon, the coordinator, is FANTASTIC! She is so responsive to emails and phone calls and really works around the client to make sure everything is perfect. I didn't have a single worry the day-of because I knew that Meghon and her staff would take care of everything. Her assistant, Pat, was a huge help as well. He wasn't a part of the planning process, but was there to help for the actual event. We had a few last-minute requests (like during cocktail hour!) and he made it happen. The hotel staff is also incredible. Nile and Risa really stood out to both us and all of our guests staying at the hotel. They were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was happy and enjoying themselves. \r\rThe venue itself is incredible. We were married on the lawn, took the chairlift for cocktail hour, and had the reception on the deck. It was such a unique experience with the chair lift and all of our guests loved it. The chef created a custom menu for us and were allowed to provide recipes that were used for the dinner, which was delicious! We got so many comments that it was the best wedding people had ever been to... and none of it would have happened without all of the great Sugar Bowl staff. \r\rWe had a lot of out-of-town family that stayed at the hotel starting on the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding, so it was like a long vacation and so relaxing. It was only our friends and family at the hotel, so we played games and had s'mores and drinks every night and could be as loud as we wanted without worrying about disturbing other guests. \r\rI wouldn't change a single thing about our wedding and would recommend Meghon and Sugar Bowl to any couple looking for a beautiful and fun wedding venue! kelley blatt(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-09-2012 This was, without a doubt, the best decision we ever made. We picked Sugar Bowl for our wedding venue before even really seeing it. When we were emailing venues we continuously received rude responses about our short(10 month) timeline or our budget. When we emailed Meghon(the onsite wedding coordinator) at Sugar Bowl she responded with an email telling us that no matter where we chose to have our wedding, we had plenty of time to plan the perfect wedding...this was our first clue that the customer service at Sugar Bowl was amazing. This was again reaffirmed when we did the tasting...the food was incredible, huge portions, and we had a blast! We were able to bring our mothers and MOH to the tasting and it ended up being one of our best memories.\r\rThe next 10 months was filled with hundreds of back and forth emails and Meghon always sent back helpful and knowledgeable responses. Having never been closely involved in the wedding planning process before, I was extremely nervous as to how it would all come together. I had also opted to have Meghon be my florist and had only given her a few photos as guidelines and a few types of flowers I liked...I had no idea what to expect until we arrived for our wedding weekend. \r\rWhen we pulled up on the Thursday before our wedding the place was more beautiful than we could have imagined(we had only seen it in the winter). The custom wedding signs and reserved \"bride and groom\" parking were a wonderful touch. The staff for the entire weekend was incredible. They lit the bonfire for us every evening and accommodated each and every guest. They even let you order sandwiches for the next day as there is no restaurant open on site...I HIGHLY recommend doing so. They were delicious! The whole weekend worked like a well oiled machine. \r\rThe day of the wedding was the first time I had seen any of the flowers and bouquets...I was blown away! They far exceeded my expectations and every time I see my wedding photos I am thrilled at how perfect the flowers were...Meghon has a true talent for flowers!! \rAnd I have to say that the entire wedding continued like this. Every last detail was thought of...things I hadn't even anticipated like parasols for the guests to use for the sunny hours. Meghon even gifted us a beautiful book about Sugar Bowl to use as a guestbook when ours tragically didn't arrive. We also had our cocktail hour at the top of the Disney Ski Lift...this was one of the best parts. Our guests LOVED the beautiful views and it gave no one a chance to be bored while we were off taking pictures. The food was extraordinary and they had graciously accommodated my food allergies and even made a few custom dishes for the wedding at no additional charge. Meghon was there the entire time keeping everything moving along to schedule and flowing perfectly. I honestly didn't have to worry about a single thing the entire night...I don't hear this from many brides.\r\rOn our morning of leaving it was an even bigger shock to find that our total for the weekend was slightly lower than anticipated...what a pleasant surprise to have stayed BELOW our budget!\r\rI can't thank Sugar Bowl enough for all their hard work, wonderful staff, and for making our wedding everything we wanted and more. Meghon eliminated soooo much \"wedding stress\" and made our weekend so special. Reviewed on 25-11-2012
Nadia Aslami(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2012 We got married at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort on 10/6/12. We loved the rustic, historic feel. We immediately clicked with Meghon, the wedding event coordinator. She is genuine, friendly & put us right at ease. \r\rMeghon and Sugar Bowl were extremely flexible and allowed us to be creative - my family is from Afghanistan and we have traditional desserts and teas that should be served at weddings, but most places don't let you bring in outside food - not so at Sugar Bowl - Meghon and the Sugar Bowl staff were more than happy to accommodate this special request. We also had some traditional ceremonies that were a bit unusual, but Meghon found a way to weave them into our day seamlessly - my family was so honored, impressed, and happy that we were able to incorporate all the traditions. \r\rThe staff also set up all of my handmade decorations in such a way that was more beautiful than I could have imagined & returned everything in perfect condition! I didn't have to worry or bother any family or friends with these details. Meghon also did all the flowers-I had no idea what I wanted & she still produced incredible work that was exactly what I wanted! And she did it all herself, on top of coordinating the entire weekend, so I would highly recommend anyone to utilize her for the flower services. \r\rDinner was fantastic! Our friend, who is a professional chef at a gourmet restaurant, said it was the best food he ever had at a wedding! We also used the basement of the ski lodge as a kids room, with a kid friendly buffet, coloring, games and movies. All the parents raved about this! After all the kiddos went to bed, the staff quickly transformed the room into the after-party room & the festivities continued into the night! And then, to top the night off, when my husband and I finally returned to our room, we came back to find a chilled bottle of champagne and 2 slices of our cake, which we were wicked excited about since we never had a chance to eat any (besides the pieces we shoved in each others mouths). It really was the icing on the cake, literally (sorry for the cheesy pun!) \r\rMike with the Sugar Bowl lodging and accommodations staff was also extremely helpful throughout the whole process, making sure that all our guests staying at the hotel and at on-site property rentals were taken care of. We had a few minor snafus along the way for a variety of reasons (comes with the territory with a guest list that large), but Mike made fixing them a priority and it always resulted in a positive outcome - he really worked hard for us the entire time! \r\rFinally, another highlight was the delicious Sunday Brunch (some people even said it was the best bacon they've ever had!). It was so nice to say goodbye to everyone & not have to worry about pulling quiches out of the oven or doing dishes. We just relaxed & enjoyed everyone’s company for as long as we could. \r\rEveryone said that our wedding couldn't have been at a more beautiful location or be more relaxed. Meghon kept the night flowing without a hitch, keeping us on track for all the details of the wedding (speeches, dances, cake cutting, bouquet tosses, etc.). She really went above & beyond to make our day stress-free & more perfect than we could have imagined! All this was affordable, with no sacrifice of elegance, quality, or service-no extra fees or hidden charges either! We are so happy to have had such an amazing weekend, all thanks to Meghon & her staff. Reviewed on 04-11-2012

Lisa Hochrein(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-07-2012 Short version: Sugar Bowl is awesome and a great place to have a wedding!\r\rLong version:\rWe recently had a small wedding (70 guests) at the Village Lodge at Sugar Bowl, and it was a blast! Many people told us it was the best wedding they've been too! Much of the credit goes to the great people at Sugar Bowl, especially the wedding coordinator Meghon, who went to great lengths to take care of us and was delightful to work with. \r\rThe lodge is secluded and private (a bit like an upscale summer camp). I really loved that the ceremony, reception, and lodging were all in the same place. It was so nice to be able to walk up two flights of stairs and be in my room. The whole place has a magical atmosphere - the historic lodge, the huge deck, the beautiful party lights, the mountains, and the babbling creek. We took photos at the Rainbow Bridge overlook, which has amazing views of Donner Lake. \r\rWe really liked that Sugar Bowl took care of many of our wedding needs and saved us from having to find additional vendors. We rented the whole lodge for the wedding weekend and filled it exclusively with our guests. It is difficult to describe how amazing it is to see someone down the hotel hallway and automatically know them. We were able to personalize everything! Meghon took all our instructions and ideas and made them look way better than we had imagined. She has a good eye and loves flowers! As for dinner, the food was great and the servers were all very good. And we loved the bar. By the end of the weekend, I think everyone was friends with the bartender. \r\rThe weather was beautiful in early July. It was plenty warm (even hot!) and dancing under the stars was amazing! We hosted bagged lunches for everyone, so no one needed to leave during the day. Instead they got to enjoy the mountains by hiking, biking or boating (Sugar Bowl provided loaner mountain bikes and water toys!). We also had a campfire both nights with s'mores. Because our ceremony and reception were held outdoors, we did have to deal with a few mosquitoes, but fortunately Sugar Bowl provided a basket of mosquito repellant and sunscreen for the guests to use and has some fancy propane traps. \r\rWe felt Sugar Bowl was a great value. For the price of a very modest wedding in Los Angeles, we got to feel pampered at Sugar Bowl. We have no regrets at all that we got married at Sugar Bowl, even though most of our guests had to travel more than 100 miles. \r\rp.s. We hosted a welcome BBQ (instead of a rehearsal dinner) for all our guests at Sugar Bowl on the Friday before the wedding. The Sugar Bowl burgers were great! The potato salad also got rave reviews from the guests. Reviewed on 05-08-2012

(with indoor contingency plan if necessary)\r\rFrom the first time meeting Meghon nine months before our wedding, to hugging her goodbye at the end of our wedding weekend extravaganza, my new husband (!) and I felt Meghon was professional, kind, thoughtful, gracious, and endlessly helpful. \r\rNeither my husband nor myself are particularly detail-oriented or knowledgeable about the ins and outs of wedding planning. Meghon took complete care of the cake and flower details by coordinating with vendors in Truckee. We simply researched the general information we wanted: i.e. type of flowers, cake design. With her extensive experience (she coordinates 16 weddings per summer! for the last several years!) she will always give you appropriate advice and recommendations to your questions and to fill in the gaps of your knowledge (i.e. who gets a corsage? how much cake is needed for your wedding guests? etc.)\r\rAdditionally, we had a mishap with our ceremony officiant just two weeks before the wedding! We mentioned this to Meghon and she immediately recommended a nearby and affordable officiant to save the day. Meghon had the perfect sense for us as a couple...our new officiant (Viviane) matched our personalities perfectly and the ceremony was beautiful!\r\rMeghon consistently worked to get us the best deals, and even went so far as to organize a golf outing for my husband's Tahoe bachelor party. She is honest and straight-forward about any and all wedding expenditures, no hidden fees or unexpected surprises (and if you're confused about a price/expense, just ask and she will explain thoroughly!).\r\rThe complementary (after submitting venue deposit) wine and food tasting at Sugar Bowl proper is a luxurious and delicious experience (to be shared with a handful of close friends and/or family...4 additional guests) that enables a couple to get a true sense for what their guests will experience during cocktail hour appetizers and the reception. The chef is amazing!\r\rDuring the week leading up to the wedding, we were quite anxious (understandably as we didn't know what to expect!) about everything from ceremony music to centerpiece set-up. In just 30 minutes of meeting in person with Meghon, all our anxiety was put to rest, she knows exactly how to handle all situations! The ceremony/cocktail hour/reception/bonfire after party went off without a hitch...I was unaware of even one scheduling, food, alcohol, etc. \"issue\"...Meghon and her team handled every detail calmly, kindly, perfectly. \r\rIf it weren't such a generally exhausting process, Dan and I would get married again and again at Sugar Bowl! \r\rWe love you Sugar Bowl!\r\rLove,\rDan and Rachel Reviewed on 03-08-2012

There were so many things we didn't think of, but the folks at Sugar Bowl did. Lake Mary gets buggy -- Citronella candles and bug spray for guests? Check! Some people don't like DEET -- two bottles of DEET-free spray? Check! The room with the cakes gets hot. Windows open for a cross-breeze? Check! They just took care of everything, and it was seamless and perfect and allowed me just to enjoy the day and be married. Worth every penny of the venue fee (which is CHEAP compared to Bay Area venues, btw!) And the guests are still talking about the chairlift ride (definitely get the Disney lift! I recommend sending everyone up with a glass of champagne.) Donner Pass is a special place for me, and we were delighted to get married just a few miles from where we fell in love, but even if you don't have a connection to the area I highly recommend getting married here, particularly if you have sporty guests who will appreciate hikes just out the back door. I planned the wedding and so I thought I pretty much knew what to expect. The staff far surpassed my expectations and sewed up more than one situation. For instance, it was a hot day, guests were seated and the ceremony was held up waiting for a relative to arrive. The staff was on it, serving tea lemonade, water, etc. to all of the waiting guests, quickly and without any cue from me. Aside from that one instance, they seemed to be everywhere making sure everyone was taken care of, but at the same way making themselves unintrusive. I felt like they totally had us covered. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for: a place where everyone could feel comfortable and enjoy the beauty around them. The site made the wedding no question...I still get comments on how the stunning the backdrop was \"stunning\" and the wedding was out of a storybook. We also got amazing wedding photos on Rainbow Bridge about Donner Lake since it was two minutes away. For an outdoor wedding, it had a perfect dance floor. For those who didn't like to dance, they could hang around the firepit and play horseshoes. And the kids, they ran around everywhere and loved splashing at the water. \rMeagon and Charl (sp.) were the perfect hosts. The service was impeccible - I was the most relaxed bride because there was absolutely nothing to do or worry about - they took care of it all and not a single ball was dropped. Like most brides, I was a little freaked how it would all come together, but Meagon reassured me with every call and she was right. They know what they are doing.\rAlso - since we opted for the buffet, I didn't expect the food to be so delicious. Sugar Bowl was very accomodating with creating our menu and it got rave revues from everyone.
