The Midnight Gem consists of 8,000 square feet of event space designed to impress to-be-weds and their guests. When celebrating here, couples can share their special day with up to 300 people. Festivities can be held in the venue’s vaulted reception hall which features exposed ceiling beams and other industrial accents. For those who have been dreaming of celebrating in the open air, the covered patio is available. Here, couples and their guests can admire bucolic countryside views as they celebrate the newlyweds’ new chapter together. Another outdoor option, the courtyard, can also be used for special occasions. Thanks to its bistro lighting, fire pits, and lawn games, those celebrating are sure to have a memorable time. I could not imagine having my wedding anywhere else besides the Midnight Gem! The owners are the sweetest people ever, and the staff is incredibly helpful on the big day. All of my questions were answered, even the last-minute ones, and they did everything possible to make sure the wedding went smoothly. I would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone because I cannot say enough good things about it!

My husband and I had a ~250 person wedding reception at The Midnight Gem on 11/10/2023. We booked the venue while it was still under construction and are so happy we did! The venue is so beautiful and so wonderfully operated. We would choose The Midnight Gem over and over again without a second thought. The staff at The Midnight Gem were easy to work with throughout the entire planning process, no matter if it was a simple e-mail question here or there or at the 2 planning meetings. A few things had changed from our original conversations to the time of our wedding and the staff honored the items that had been previously discussed, which highlights the good business ran by this venue. They truly want to help you have the best (and as stress-free) day as possibleThe bride and groom's suites are gorgeous and spacious. The putting green outside (which initially I thought we wouldn't use) ended up being a hit with keeping kids entertained during the reception.Our wedding was located off-site, and the location of The Midnight Gem is great for anyone getting married in the Iowa City or Cedar Rapids area. Having the exclusive partnership with the Avid Hotel just down the road make transportation to the venue/back to the hotel a non-issue.We felt rental price was very fair in comparison to other venues in the area and appreciated the option to pre-purchase alcohol to help stay within budget.

Amazing location for a wedding -- a lot of effort has clearly been put into not only the aesthetic and simplicity of the building, but also into helping couples ensure their event goes as smoothly as possible. Plenty of options for customizing the space. There was great communication with the owners from the beginning. Thank you so much!

Alex and Jordan Nelson (Owner) Hello! We are owners of The Midnight Gem, a husband and wife duo that love to plan weddings and events! We have been together since 8th grade (yes- middle school sweethearts!) After both graduating from The University of Iowa, we finally tied the knot in summer of 2019 and built our first home in the North Liberty area. Not long after we decided to take on some more new adventures- chasing our dream of building a wedding and event venue and growing our family!
