The Omar is a beautiful wedding venue located in Midtown Omaha, NE - where timeless architecture meets contemporary amenities and decorative elements. Boasting an art-deco style, the restored building still showcases many of its original features from its days as the Omar Baking Building in 1923. From exposed brick walls to an abundance of natural light, this venue provides an elegant backdrop to any photograph. The professional team handles every event with expertise, ensuring a unique and memorable experience. Couples can host their once-in-a-lifetime event with up to 320 guests comfortably seated for dinner. Exposed red brick walls and large windows produce a striking and elegant backdrop to any style of wedding and theme. Ambient uplighting is dotted around the space, adding an extra touch of magic to the glimmering candlelight as night falls and the dancing begins. Newlyweds can flow between the main banquet hall and an adjacent outdoor patio area. The patio features a trendy built-in bar and comfortable lounge furniture, ideal for a breath of fresh air between songs. Moving back inside, an urban bar is also serving guests refreshing beverages. The Omar offers comprehensive venue rental packages for weddings, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, and other important occasions. My daughter was married on July 15 this year and the venue was perfect. Matt was so helpful and easy to get along with. We loved him and his easy going personality. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue to celebrate this union. Thanks Matt and hope to see you again some day

I loved the Omar the minute I walked in. It has such a cool atmosphere and is an amazing space to gather with tons of family and friends. Everyone loved the space, especially the outdoor patio! The staff were helpful and responsive throughout the entire process, too. I could not recommend the Omar more.

We had our wedding reception at the Omar and it was perfect! The venue is amazing and fit our vision exactly. We loved the exposed brick, Edison lights and how spacious it was! Matt was very responsive, easy to work with and made our experience great! We would highly recommend the Omar for your wedding or event!

The Omar is a beautiful space but the owner will only initiate communication when he needs a contract signed or payment is due (they do not even reach out before final payment to confirm headcount to ensure accuracy). From our experience, Matt, the owner of The Omar, did not act as a partner on our day. His communication was unprofessional and he oversold the venue’s abilities and customer service. When I provided Matt with constructive feedback of “it would be helpful if you proactively reached out to your couples so that they have an understanding of what to expect and what they need to plan for”; I was met with a raised voice and extreme unprofessionalism. When planning our wedding, all of our vendors but The Omar began communication at least 3 months in advance of the big day. If it wasn’t for those other vendors (caterer, photographer, and band), I know our day would have looked differently (not in a good way). If you are looking for a venue that is strictly focused on providing you venue access and tables/chairs, then The Omar may be a good option for you. If you are looking for a venue that goes out of their way to make your day special and sends updates along the way, I would suggest choosing another venue to work with.If you choose the Omar, make sure you read the fine print and review the figures being sent to you. When we reached 30 days prior to the wedding, The Omar only initiated communication three times (to collect the signed contract, first deposit, and final payment). Each of these times, there were errors in the contract and issues with figures on each invoice (all of the errors resulted in increased costs for my husband and I). In regards to the response by the owner, the inaccuracies were not in regards to figures that my husband and I provided. On the contract, the wrong wedding date was listed and they tried to charge us for the glass blown chandeliers that the owner stated was to be included with the cost of the venue rental. I also had to remind Matt to return the deposit, although the contract stated this was to be returned one day after the event.If you decide to have the ceremony at The Omar, please be aware that the caterer will charge an additional fee to flip the room. Even though there are only two preferred caterers, Matt did not disclose this important detail during the initial walk through (expect the ceremony to cost about $1,000 between both the venue’s and the caterer’s fees).Lastly, while Matt decided to not show up for our wedding weekend and didn’t communicate this prior, the team he had in place did a great job. Something as simple as, \"I will not be in attendance, however, this team member will take care of entry/security and this team member will take care of day of coordination\" would be appreciated. I was extremely nervous going into the big day based on my interactions with Matt, however, Rick and Lonny demonstrated great attention to detail and care.As you can tell by the owner's response, he has no regards for trying to create a good customer experience and takes no accountability. The Omar received the largest payment from us, yet, we were consistently met with unprofessionalism.

I think the most difficult part of wedding planning was picking a venue, and I am SO HAPPY we ended up at The Omar. The exposed brick, the freedom to hang things from the ceilings, the amazing bar, little outdoor patio for people to cool off while the band took a break, the attention and quick responses from the owner regarding our questions, the list goes on! We had 135 people at our wedding and it was just a perfect space for us. It really has so much charm and we were able to use it as a canvas for our perfect day. Thank you Matt and Miroslava!

Matt was so easy to work with despite the challenges of planning a wedding during covid and having to replan our original date due to my husbands military orders. Matt was accommodating and very responsive. Not to mention the venue itself is stunning! Highly recommend!

Cheryl from Eddy's was a dream to work with and gave us the best pointers! I would highly recommend The Omar and Eddy's Catering to any bride-to-be. You won't regret it!
