The Pavilions at Penfield Beach are beachfront wedding venues situated in Fairfield, CT. These mesmerizing locations have everything you need to create an unforgettable celebration with your closest loved ones. With multiple event spaces, sensational views, and exceptional service, it is perfect for every stage of your once-in-a-lifetime occasion. Only 30 minutes from New Haven and just over an hours’ drive from New York, The Pavilions at Penfield Beach offers a serene celebration sanctuary. Each space has its own distinct atmosphere and has been decorated to radiate a feeling of tranquility with captivating views of the Long Island Sound. Depending on your specific needs and wedding vision, you are invited to choose from either the Penfield Pavilion or the Jacky Durrell Pavilion. For larger events, you can avail of the Penfield Pavilion. With high-raftered ceilings and warm furnishings, this expansive space can accommodate up to 180 seated guests and 300 for a standing reception. The Jacky Durrell Pavilion is ideal for more intimate gatherings of up to 125 guests. Full of natural light with serene waterfront views and a rich wooden finish, this beautiful space radiates an atmosphere of rustic comfort. A list of preferred vendors is also available, including the finest local photographers, caterers, DJs and more. Please note, Penfield Pavilion is currently offline a for a largescale remediation effort and will reopen January 2025. Our Jacky Durrell Pavilion remains open/available to be reserved mid-April through mid-October annually.

We had our Wedding at Jacky Durrell, it is the smaller of the 2 venues there. We were married on the beach right in front of the pavillion and it was beautiful. It was a blank canvas, but included tables and chairs, for an affordable price. The building is so beachy and has newly renovated restrooms! Gaylen was a pleasure to work with. Deirdre Price ended up being our day of coordinator and she was AMAZING. She went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect and exactly what we had talked about and then some. She was so easy to work with and really made the day happen. I highly recommend her!! Their recommended vendors were amazing to work with and were so familiar with the building. For anyone looking for a space to really create their own vision, this is the beach venue of your dreams.

The Pavilions at Fairfield Beach are a great venue for a beach-themed, or relaxed wedding event - welcome party, shower or even reception. We used the Durrell Pavilion which has a spectacular view of the Long Island Sound, is easy to access for guests, has a good size kitchen and quality equipment for setting up the event.

We had an amazing experience renting the Jacky Durrell pavilion for a beach party in advance of our wedding! We loved the location and the affordability of the venue, working with the coordinator was also super straightforward and pleasant! We rented during the day so that our guests could enjoy going to the beach and come inside the pavilion for lunch. In late June, it. was a little warm with no AC but not too hot since the windows/doors open and let in a breeze! Having a pizza truck outside to cater was really convenient and I'd highly recommend that too! We used the fridge provided for drinks and the kitchen for setup/cleanup, and it was easy to set up decorations etc. with all the chairs and tables laid out in advance. We also brought just one speaker for music which worked fine for a casual event. Overall, I'd highly recommend! Ample parking, easy set up and clean up and access, and a beautiful setting!

We got married at Jacky Durrell on May 13th 2023. We planned our own wedding so we were the ones coordinating every thing with the venue. From start to finish it was an easy and smooth experience. Gaylen communicated and helped us through the initial booking and planning stages and Deidre to over at the site and helped with planning the room set up. On the day Deidre was a rock. She was hands on and at the venue all day to help with anything we needed.We could not have asked for a more magical venue, the view and beach backdrop is spectacular. The staff at Parks and Rec made the whole experience perfect.Rachael and Scott Joerman

PROS: Location, location, location. We chose the beautiful Pavilions at Penfield Beach for two reasons: one is the location, right on the beach. Two is that my husband is a homebrewer and he wanted to be able to serve our guests his own beer. Gaylen, my primary contact, was super friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful day and were able to take some pics on the beach, and many of our guests enjoyed spending time in a lounge area we had set up on the back patio. CONS: The downside of renting the Pavilion is that you are renting the building, the tables and the chairs – and that's IT. Meaning, you have to bring in EVERYTHING. From ice, to salt-and-pepper shakers. Our caterers, Amici's Tavern out of Hamden were fantastic with setup and breakdown of the room, and providing glassware, utensils, etc. It was just a LOT of WORK to load everything in and out. I mistakenly thought we were able to get in at 9 a.m., but it was actually 10. A little tight for a noon wedding, but thankfully my village was able to pull it off! Also, the Pavilion does not have a separate room where a bride can get ready, so you literally get out of your car (or limo) and walk in. I wish there had been a bridal suite where I could have taken a breath, double-checked my hair and makeup before I walked in. I hope they include one when they rebuild after 2022! Finally, it must be some sort of regulation, but EVERYWHERE YOU TURN there are exit signs. Big, red, garish exit signs over EVERY SINGLE DOOR. And some on the door jamb... in every picture. I'm sure my photographer can retouch them out, but... GAH!

I always dreamed of getting married on the beach barefoot and at Penfield, they made this dream become a reality. I live about 30 minutes away and to be honest....I had never heard of this venue before! (Which I loved) It's not over done or over played - it's a little gem on the beach in CT. I knew the second I saw it online that it was the one, but was immediately reassured once I went to visit. You just can't beat the view, plus the price is incredibly reasonable. The space is a blank canvas so you can totally make it your own. Gaylen and Dean (Penfield coordinators) were great and it was such a pleasure working with them. If you're looking for a beach wedding, Penfield is the place!

Just had my wedding here 9.4.22 and I can't say enough about how beautiful this place is. It was perfect for the look & feel my husband and I were going for. Gaylen and Dierdre were helpful and answered all my questions during the planning process. The guests are still raving about the view/space as well. I am very into DIY and so I really appreciated that the building rental could be as blank slate/ white canvas as you want, coming with necessities like chairs and tables and things like that, but letting you do your own decor and get your own catering and other vendors of your choosing, instead of making you use vendors they want you to use (which is hard to find in CT). Pricing is reasonable too. My main complaint if I had to make one would be that I should have purchased more hours than what I already had so that the party could go on longer! Didn't want to leave:)

We rented the Jacky Durrell Pavilion for our daughter's rehearsal dinner and informal reception to entertain out of town guests. We had a pizza and taco truck and otherwise no caterer or rental company so it was all DIY. The staff had the tables set up according to our floor plan and even helped us set up when we arrived with our tablecloths and decorations. It was a perfect night, so much so that I would love an excuse to rent it again! The guests raved about how beautiful the venue was and couldn't believe we found such a gem. Communication before the event was excellent, and I received immediate replies to any of my questions. I wouldn't hesitate to have a wedding here; even if it rains it is completely enclosed but since it has large glass windows you would still be able to appreciate that you are on the beach.

We had the most perfect engagement party for our daughter at the Jacky Durrell Pavilion. There's lots of space inside for guests and doors open up onto a beautiful porch right on the beach overlooking the water. Location could not be better! Between the Pavilions at Penfield, I prefer the Jacky Durrell stand alone location for the privacy.I have nothing bad to say. Everything was perfect. The town was easy to work with and big help with set up and clean up. One of my kids commented, \"if I had to do it again, I'd get married here\".

This place is perfect if you’re on a budget but still want the feel of a gorgeous, higher-priced wedding! Penfield Pavilion gets a 10/10 for us. Gaylen was the woman that helped us book the venue and she was great. She was super accommodating and made herself available to us for any questions we had. I knew if it rained on our wedding day that it would still be beautiful here because you can look out at the water through big glass windows onto the deck and then out to the water. Sure enough, it rained on our wedding day. We were still able to have our cocktail hour outside because the deck is covered and it really was beautiful. Our catering company (AMG) based out of Wilton made the room look so special and it suited the rainy day feel with sultry colors and romantic table settings. It was the most amazing day and we’re so grateful this is the venue we chose to spend our most special day at!

The most fun and naturally beautiful and esthetically pleasing place! For any bride looking for the absolute BEST local vendors I cannot stress enough how awesome everyone was at our wedding. We are the party type but I still wanted minimalistic and elegant decor and this was a blank canvas that did half the job for me with the wood beams, open floor plan, and beach views and deck. I cannot stress enough how amazing our vendors were and also Gaylen who was thorough with how things run there and answered every question we had. This is by far the best place to do a beach front wedding! Everybody loved the pavilion n it was perfect for a group of 50 guests and still have enough space for a dance floor and decors. The view is so beautiful even at night. Gaylen the venue coordinator is very helpful and answered everything that we need. The only thing is we cannot extend the hours since there's a noise ordinance at 10pm. So if you need more hours, then extend earlier. Other than that, the beach, and the jacky durrell pavilion is perfect!

This was our first time renting the Pavilions at Penfield Beach since its renovation, and WOW, what a seamless, fantastic experience we had, not to mention the breathtaking view. We threw a surprise birthday party here, had guests of all ages, who just loved the open airy space. Since we threw this party during pandemic times, we were thrilled to be able to have ample space to distance the tables, open air circulation through the back doors opening to the beautiful waterfront, and access to the deck. Everything was set up when we arrived (included! yay!) and it was spotless. So much goes into throwing a party like this, so we were so thankful to have such a wonderful setup, the staff were excellent about clearing the trash throughout the party, and available to show us how to hook up the music to the audio system (one plug- SO easy!) and honestly just made the entire process so wonderful. Gaylen was fantastic in helping us to book the venue, helping us take out the insurance (it's literally 2 clicks and she sends you the link!) and she just made the process painless, which means so much when you're trying to plan a party! Huge plus was having the beach and the playground right there for the kids to play throughout the whole party. Penfield Pavilions is a no brainer for anyone who wants a turn-key venue, that delights your guests, and makes the hostess' job EASY!! we'll be planning all of our future large parties here from now on!!! One note: remember to bring serving spoons for your buffet food, dish soap and paper towels, and foil for your leftover chafing dish pans! they keep the kitchen spotless for easy turnover, so you'll want to bring your own as they don't have those in the kitchen! Very professional. Any time we had a question, they answered right away. Gorgeous location. Clean. Set up exactly to our specifications. Staff during the event worked swiftly. Nice people. The only reason I am not giving the venue a 5 is there is no 'green room' or private place for the bridal party to wait or primp - they hung out with the terrific staff on site in the very small office and while we appreciated the hospitality, it was not ideal perching on office desks or in beanbag chairs. To be fair, we were aware of this limitation to the venue, but the significant inconvenience of not having a dedicated space for the bridal party does not really hit you until you are there for the event. Honestly (at the cost of the party renting the facility) the venue might consider offering some sort of 'portable' green room (staging) option. That would make the venue a 5 for sure!

The staff was amazing, they somehow, along with the caterer, Fitzgerald’s, flipped the room from the ceremony to a reception space for 175 people during the cocktail hour. This would be a repeat for us -- should any of our other children get married. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this venue, our caterer, Fitzgerald's and the staff at the Pavilion!

The Pavilions at Penfield Beach is an amazing wedding venue. As a local caterer we are frequently contracted for events and weddings here all the time and love the space. We are able to pull our food trucks up to right outside the doors and set up. Our catering company also includes staffing, bar and cocktail hour passed hors d'oeuvres service. The layout of Penfield is very conductive to all of this. There are ample options for where to set up bars (including the back deck with the amazing ocean view). The onsite kitchen is great for couples who bring in catering companies because there is ample space for prep and storage. This is a fantastic space for launching passed hors d'oeuvres from and any dinner service. The onsite freezer and fridge are great for ice storage and and desserts.The Pavilions at Penfield Beach not only have beautiful ocean views, but is easy to access from I95 and has great parking and handicap ramps. Penfield is always a very clean venue and has ample bathrooms as well. The venue coordinator (Gaylen) is great to work with and always responds to any questions in a reasonable time. An amazing benefit to this space is that it comes with tables and chairs (great for saving money on rentals)!! The Pavilion is a blank slate for couples to customize and decorate with their style. As the wedding liaison for Loco Catering Group and someone who has attended a lot of weddings at this venue I would recommend the Pavilions at Penfield Beach to all of our clients. This is a must see space when searching for venues.

Beautiful venue. Great service and quick response to emails. Be careful of hidden costs. They provide some tables and chairs but if you want more then 8 people at a round table you have to order your own tables and cloths.Also , the chairs they offer are not attractive, so you might also have to rent chairs.It was a beautiful day !

Penfield Pavilion was an amazing venue. The view is spectacular and the location was perfect. I was able to bring in all of my own vendors and dictated my own budget and price. The Penfield Pavilion is undoubtedly a beautiful waterfront venue. Gaylen of Fairfield Parks and Rec was very responsive and helpful throughout the whole planning process. However, there are a few things people should be fully aware of when considering the Pavilion for a wedding venue. Unfortunately we found the Pavilion to be very much a “bait and switch” situation. At first glance the price to reserve the venue seems very reasonable, but once you begin planning for all the details of a wedding that is not the case. You are only given one hour of set up time. Typically during a wedding, guests will arrive a half hour early so you really only have about a half hour. This is NOT even close to the amount of time that is needed to set up even the most basic of weddings. Extra time is charged by the hour and we ended up needing to purchase an additional six hours just to have basic bistro lighting. Even without the lighting you will quickly learn that all of your vendors (caterer, florist, rentals) will all need at least 2-3 hours for set up. You also cannot have anything stored at the pavilion overnight so you will be paying an additional weekend nightly breakdown fee by all of your vendors. You have to bring EVERYTHING in to this venue. All that is provided are round tables, chairs, and rectangular tables, bistro tables can be rented but at another extra cost. The chairs provided by the town are unsightly grey cloth banquet chairs and don’t fit well around the tables so like most people , we ended up having to rent all of the chairs for the event as well. We also found hiring a planner unavoidable. Besides having to hire and bring in every single vendor, you are not given a wedding coordinator for the day of, and set up is basically on your own. The town provides you only with one or two people who are only there to help set up whatever tables you are using from the Pavilion. If you don’t hire a planner you will likely spend your entire wedding day at the venue setting up your own wedding. The Pavilion is also public and if you are planning a summer event there will be many people on the beach and on the surrounding areas of the deck during your wedding. Not something the town can control but definitely a factor that should be taken into account if you want a more private event. The Pavilion can be a beautiful setting for your wedding, but be prepared to work for it and definitely be prepared to pay for it.

Jacky Durrell Pavilion was a wonderful venue and fabulous location. It was perfect for our elegant, yet low-key event. The Town of Fairfield event coordinators in the office and on site were very professional and answered all of our questions in a timely fashion.A few things to note:- Great coordinators- The hour before and after the event may not be enough time for event planners/caterers to set up/break down. We had to purchase additional time for set up.- No WiFi so we used a mobile hotspot for music- No A/C so if it had been a very hot day, we would have had to bring fans - We received a lovely, hand written, thank you note for having our event at the pavilion

This venue was an amazing atmosphere for our wedding. The only down side was the amount of time for setup, we rented both time slots for the day so that we would have plenty of time for the day to do so. But we could still only hold the reception for 4 hours because of the strict policy on serving alcohol only within that time period. We loved the availability of having guests both indoors and outdoors. We held our ceremony on the back deck. Also tagged wedding photos here on Facebook but some reason were never posted to their page not sure why but thought it would be nice for others to see how our wedding was setup.

Perfect location for your beach wedding! The beach front was great, and the building is beautiful- makes it worry free if the weather doesn’t cooperate! The staff was accommodating and efficient. Locations like this are hard to come by in CT - or anywhere!

Perfect for beach wedding! The options for a beach wedding in CT are very limited. I was so happy to find out about the Penfield Pavillion and see that is was truly a beachfront location. Our guests were amazed at the view and we heard so many comments about how they loved the venue. The Pavilion staff was courteous and really did their job to assist us on clean up afterwards. The one negative was that our beverage provider was not able to pick up our keg and it was given the following day to someone else. Really? They should ask questions to ascertain the ownership of anything left behind. This gaffe cost me $100. Just make sure you take all belongings with you. Otherwise, it was Great!Joan
