From the day we first spoke with the Twickenham team, they provided an absolutely world class experience. Leigh was an absolute rock star, helping my wife and I through every step of the wedding planning process. The venue is even more beautiful than you could imagine, and the 3 night stay was incredibly comfortable and memorable for all of our guests. There was no pressure to use preferred vendors (other than catering but this is clearly disclosed up front), however, they were happy to provide recommendations, all of which turned out to be phenomenal. Their partner restaurant delivered a delicious meal, and were very attentive to all of our guests at the bar. Leigh and her team ensured that the entire weekend was as perfect and stress free as we could have possibly hoped for. We truly could not be happier with our choice and would recommend this venue and team to anyone. Reviewed on 19-04-2023

Staying at the Twickenham house over the weekend with our friends and family was an incredible experience- the Twickenham staff was incredibly kind and the vendors that Leigh recommended (including Morchella for catering!) were awesome. She fully understood our vision and what we were going for and went above and beyond with every last detail. She is basically a calligrapher and knows her way around florals as well. She was somehow everywhere the day of the wedding and ready to assist and make sure everything was going smoothly and on time. We cannot recommend her and her services more. Any questions, detail, concern, she had a solution and answer. She made it seem as if we were her only couple she was working with and that our day was the most important to her. We went into wedding planning thinking that we did not need a planner and because it was required at Twickenham we agreed but really I don't know how we would have done it without her now! Logan Yusuf(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-07-2022 I don't even know where to begin describing the perfection of the entire weekend at Twickenham, and the many months leading up to it. From the very start, Leigh was everything we could have dreamed of having in a wedding planner. I wanted a beautiful wedding but wanted to do none of the planning leading up to it. Most people would say that's impossible. But believe me when I say Leigh made it happen. I asked for vendors, she provided a list, I picked her number one choice for each and never looked back. HOLY SMOKES did they provide everything than we ever could have dreamed of and more! Leigh asked what our vision of the ceremony and reception looked like, we laughingly told her we wanted it to look pretty but had nothing else to add. I honestly apologized so many times for making so few decisions... Leigh, in her perfect candid self THANKED ME (!!!!!!!) because she got to do what she loved most just putting things together how she felt they looked best. And THE. WHOLE. WEEKEND. WAS. PERFECT. Almost every single guest commented that it was the most beautiful wedding they'd ever been to. A girl can't make that stuff up. Thanks for making it look like I put together a beautiful wedding, Leigh :) Wish I could take credit for it... I'll take like 1% of it. Leigh deserves the remaining 99% of the credit. I cannot imagine having gone through the wedding planning process without Leigh. Nothing fell through the cracks. Like absolutely nothing. People told me throughout the planning to just understand and accept that things will go wrong on wedding day, that things would happen not according to plan. I mean I don't know if people just didn't tell me when things went wrong or what, but I don't think it could have been more perfect.. have I said that enough? My husband and I have jokingly said that we are renewing our vows every single year at Twickenham so we can relive our wedding weekend over and over. But if I'm honest I'm being completely serious when I say that's what I want to do. The only hesitation would be I don't think it's possible to recreate that weekend in the exact manner because it was too perfect. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. That's the only way to describe the weekend. I can't say it enough. Thank you, Leigh. You were (AND ARE!) and absolute God-send. We are eternally grateful for you. Reviewed on 27-07-2022

We were married here 3 weeks ago and when I say it went perfectly, it was EVERYTHING! It started with Leigh spending over an hour on the phone with me and my now husband answering a long list of questions and concerns, she was very thorough and took her time. During the planning process, Leigh always responded to me very quickly and with such a great attitude, she brought so much joy to the planning process. Finally came wedding weekend, and it went without a single bump. The house and grounds are beautiful, the cliffs are incredible, and the hall was amazing as well! Not only beautiful, but had everything we needed. Both of our families were able to stay at the house and celebrate together throughout the weekend, making it so special. Leigh made it all come together and so beautifully! I can't say enough good things about Twickenham and Leigh (wedding planner). This is certainly a hidden gem and I can't recommend it enough! Michal Mosteller(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-11-2021 Twickenham was truly our dream venue. The outdoor ceremony spot overlooking the mountains was exactly what I pictured; the estate home and seclusion was an added bonus that made our wedding weekend feel cozy. We were able to spend Thursday-Sundays with our friends and family and was perfect. We don’t regret the venue at all. Leigh, our wedding planner, is a different story. She helped book vendors, kept track of details, set up and packed up reception and ceremony sites, ran things on the wedding day. To me, though, these are the most basic duties a wedding planner should help with. Her personality was great but when it came to actually planning and guiding us through a process we knew little about, she failed. I felt the need to read countless articles on planning. I’m not a wedding planner and I wanted to rely on a professional. She also never reached out on her own. I always had to email her to get started on new items. Because of this, there were times when we missed out on a vendor (for example, most of the bakers were booked by the time I mentioned it). I purposely did not contact her for about 3 months to see if she would take initiative and email me. Nope. I finally had to email her again because planning could not be delayed any longer. As we were driving to the venue from out of state there was an issue with the caterer. Leigh emailed us the final details list from them but failed to mention there was a change of menu and increased price. The ONLY reason I found out was because I read the full forwarded email chain. I emailed Leigh immediately and brought up the changes and she offered to email the caterer about it. I was like, “Um, yes. I do in fact want you to make sure we get what we paid for and originally agreed upon.” I ended up having to email the caterer, with Leigh cc’d, because she was willing to let the issue go. I had also bought cheese and crackers from the local cheese shop for our cocktail hour, the cheese coming in blocks. When I delivered this to Leigh, the NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING, she looked at me and said, “Oh, you can go ahead and cut it then bring it back to me.” To me, this was what we were paying for. We ended up leaving the cheese in blocks and guests had to cut it themselves at cocktail hour. The day of the wedding, I saw very little of Leigh. I know she was setting up the ceremony site, and perhaps reception hall still, so I guess that took all her time. We had also paid to rent their heaters for the ceremony and cocktail hour sites but they we inefficient. At the cocktail hour site, there were patches of frozen ice that a couple guests slipped on. When my maid of honor let Leigh know, she said, “We know, just don’t walk in that area.” Even my dad, who is typically oblivious to the finer details (said with love), mentioned her incompetency. We were also very excited about the champagne tower; when it came time to do that and cut the cake, Leigh did not have an announcement made and no one even noticed we did it. A waste of money, which is a shame because it looked so fun!Overall, she did not take initiative and guide us through the process. We missed deadlines and quality vendors because I had to bring topics up with her, which I only knew to mention because of my very limited time reading brides.com articles. I felt as though she was more of a coordinator than a planner, but was definitely paid to be the latter. The venue was superb but I’d request a different planner. Reviewed on 13-04-2022

Anything and everything that did not go totally according to plan was dealt with deftly, calmly, and discreetly by Leigh and her team without causing so much as a ruffle in any festivities.Leigh was also highly communicative throughout the wedding planning process. She scheduled regular phone calls with us, and we texted and emailed back and forth whenever needed between calls. Her communications were always detailed and well organized (the planners and itineraries she used are practically works of art), her demeanor upbeat and supportive. She was excellent at ensuring that we were involved in the planning process as much or as little as we wanted to be (e.g., with reaching out to or updating our vendors, with planning out how the houses and hall would be decorated, etc.).We loved having our wedding at Twickenham House: the venue is beautiful and unique, and it was awesome to have most of our guests staying with us on site. There are also many wedding vendors in the area to pick from, fitting a variety of style preferences and budgets. With the well thought out planning by the mother of the bride and the awesome wedding planner we used, Bethany Grube, the weekend was an experience our son and daughter-in-law will hopefully never forget. Thank you Bethany for nailing each event, from the setting up of the rehearsal dinner to the sparkler send off after the wedding reception for the bride & groom....you were spot on with it all! If I could change anything about the event, unfortunately we had to be out by 10 am the very next day after the wedding. That is very very difficult to do. My recommendation would be a 12 pm check out due to the late night of the wedding and all the \"stuff\" you have to pack up the next day. Alicia Dahl(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-07-2021 This venue is breathtaking... but the management was so incredibly unprofessional that we had to walk away from our plans. Last March, we asked to postpone our summer 2020 wedding and despite them having open availability for weekend events in 2021, they were forcing us into a M-Th wedding date. Their office was often unresponsive or very late to our questions and requests via email and phone call. Ultimately, planning a wedding with this venue was extremely stressful and expenses were often unclear. There are equally gorgeous mountain view properties in NC that will be more inclusive, responsive, and cost-efficient. I scheduled a visit and knew it was the perfect place to host our wedding. One of the best parts of this venue is being able to stay with family during wedding weekend. Bethany was my planner / therapist (planning a wedding during Covid isn’t for the faint of heart). Kelsee Cheek(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-12-2020 I got married at Twickenham a little over a week ago and I am still swooning over how breathtaking this place is. Everything about the humongous house is warm and cozy and so, so elegant. The views from the cliffs are phenomenal and the reception hall really doesn't need much decorating at all. The house is super secluded (literally on top of a mountain) and it was so much fun having 25 of our closest family and friends stay together for a few days instead of trying to rush around to spend time with everyone during the reception. Leigh Harrow was my coordinator and she is amazing- from immediately answering any and every question I had leading up/while we were there to creating a perfect day-of timeline to making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be to decorating the reception hall, etc. She made my life completely stress-free the day of and I am so thankful for that. I will say, the first touring appointment with Julia was not great. Our tour was with an intern who was unable to answer many of my questions. We then got to sit down with Julia for less than ten minutes- it felt super rushed and most questions she answered with, \"It's on the website.\" Not a great first impression, but I already had my heart set on Twickenham before I even got there. Thankfully, everyone else was really nice and helpful! I took away one star for that initial encounter and just for how expensive everything is. Even after the event fee and house rental, you have to pay to rent pretty much every little thing- lawn games (even though they are just sitting in the garage), candle votives/little decorations they have on site, signs, plates/cups, heaters, use of fireplaces, wooden cross, etc. However, when over half of our guests bailed at the last minute due to covid, the owner of the house was gracious enough to give us a small discount to help cover some of the costs we got stuck with which was very much appreciated. Samantha Dipolito(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2022 We had the chance to tour Twickenham with Bethany and she was great at helping us visualize the space and how everything would flow on our wedding day! I'll start by saying that we did decide on a different venue based on a couple of factors personal to us and our family/friends. The view of the mountains and the stone detail for the ceremony made that a very difficult decision! The grounds have a large brick house and a smaller house for guests to stay on the property. They are decorated by the owner who has an eye for gorgeous English antique pieces that are really unique and would be great photo moments for you and your guests. Some of the rooms have many beds for family or bridal party who all know each other well and some rooms are more private for couples, parents, etc. The drive up to the house seems a bit long on paper but when I tell you it is BEAUTIFUL. I mean, the drive alone is a whole experience. I think this is a great wedding destination for a warm and inviting wedding where you get to have your family and friends around you the whole time and have your ceremony, reception, and rehearsal dinners all within walking distance. Anna Kate(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-12-2020 I wish I could tell you that Twick provided all of my magical winter wonderland fairytale wedding dreams and they all came true! Alas, they did not. I have had very very poor service and communication with them from the beginning. I wanted to get married there so badly I overlooked a lot of signals!! It is very very expensive and there are a lot of hidden fees that they are not super outright with. It is so beautiful, but the lodging is not that clean. You can only sleep 50 people if you put people on trundle beds Ultimately, we canceled with them because of their Covid limitations. We just couldn't justify spending $30,000+ on a wedding with 40 people at it. Additionally, in the contract you sign, basically they keep all your deposits (which are a lot) even if the whole place burns to the ground before your wedding. Just be careful. It's not all I dreamt it up to be. We ultimately are going with another venue in Georgia. Reviewed on 05-09-2020
Beka DeSantis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-08-2020 Twickenham was the most beautiful venue!! We had our ceremony and reception out at “the cliffs” that overlook the mountains and it was the dreamiest location. When I stepped onto the balcony at the cliffs for our ceremony, the beauty took my breath away. (You should see our pictures)! Leigh was easy to work with (also coordinated with our vendors) and made sure we wouldn’t have to worry about a thing! The wedding went off perfectly without any issue whatsoever, and everyone was so relaxed. It was also perfect to be able to get ready in the house - suite for the girls and a suite for the guys. And location wise, if you want to have a blue ridge mountain wedding, you really can’t possibly find a better place. We were worried about the rain and thankfully the twickenham team had a plan B to move the wedding inside of we’d needed to, but the rain held off and it was the most beautiful wedding ever. Even our officiant who has done tons of weddings commended that this was the most beautiful wedding. We’ll be swooning over the memories and pictures forever. Reviewed on 09-08-2020
Kaitlyn B(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-01-2019 My family and I cannot say enough great things about Twickenham House and its staff! We booked the house sight unseen for our January wedding, but this was no issue whatsoever as the coordinating team was available to answer all of our questions very, very promptly. Our families stayed on the property for 4 nights, and have nothing but great things to say about their time there. The housekeeping staff were friendly and so helpful to have available! We worked directly with Bethany to plan our big day, and she was a dream coordinator! She was readily available and texted or called me back same-day. She helped us tackle any issues that arose throughout the process, and put our minds at ease long before we ever got to the house! She offered great ideas and suggestions for both the ceremony and reception. She was very flexible and accommodating, and went above and beyond in every way!On the day of our wedding, we had to change from an outdoor to an indoor ceremony location due to weather, but it could not have been a more flawless transition. In fact, Bethany and her team did such an amazing job making the switch last-minute that multiple guests told us they had no idea it wasn't supposed to be indoors from the beginning! I had no stress the day of the wedding, despite all of the changes happening, because I knew that the team had everything under control. After the ceremony, they flipped the site for the reception and, again, it could not have gone more smoothly. Leigh, who is another member of the coordinating team, was equally as essential to making our day happen even BETTER than we had hoped or planned. It takes a truly talented and professional team to make a couple's \"backup plan\" work so well. Bethany was a delight to work with, from start to finish. I cannot recommend her or Twickenham enough. We had high expectations for our wedding weekend, and they were not only met, but exceeded. Reviewed on 18-02-2020

We were in awe at how utterly gorgeous the entire place was. The flower arrangements were made in-house by Melissa and we were blown away by her talent! The one thing I had hoped for on our wedding was to fully be present and enjoy the moment. And that’s exactly what happened! I think it helped us to go in with no expectations because when it was cloudy on our wedding day, we decided to still do the ceremony outdoors and we couldn’t even be mad that there was no view because getting married in a cloud was just about the most mystical magical thing that could happen! I highly recommend this place! If you are not attached to exact details and are just looking to celebrate your love in an idyllic setting and have an absolute blast, this is the place to go to! Jennifer Rehm(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-09-2019 The venue is truly stunning and breath taking. We had an incredible experience there, however I couldn't give it five stars for several reasons. Communication with the venue was a constant challenge. We would regularly have to follow up or would get conflicting information from various individuals who would respond to our emails. Organization is lacking and we had to be diligent with making sure we weren't over charged for various line items. When we arrived there were things in the house that didn't work, such as both ovens, in both the main house and guest house. The hot tub leaked constantly, so we had to fill it with a hose multiple times and then couldn't get it to stay heated. Half the light bulbs in our bedroom didn't work, so while these are all little things, it felt as though there wasn't much attention to maintenance of the space, which detracted from our experience. All in all, I would recommend Twickenham and we're so glad we got married there! It was truly a magical weekend. Reviewed on 08-09-2019
Danielle H(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2018 I'll start by saying I did not have my wedding here, although I was completely in love with it at first. I don't intend on bashing the venue, I was just disappointed that pertinent information was withheld until I received the contract. Just FYI, you are required to hire a shuttle service for your guests and vendors after they unload their materials. The only cars they allow to park in the property are for those staying in the house. Its understandable since the road is narrow, and may not have been a deal breaker if I wasnt met with a poor attitude upon asking about it. Just wish that was explained early on within the numerous emails sent back and forth. The \"amenities\" come with hidden costs and strict rules on who is allowed to utilize them. Overall, the contract was harsh and overbearing, and took all the joy out of planning my wedding there. The best advice I can suggest is to read the contract thoroughly. For such an idyllic venue it's a shame they dont seem to be in the business for the right reasons. Reviewed on 13-01-2019

Jenna Montminy(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2018 I want to preface this review by saying I have left official online reviews for all of our wedding vendors – good, bad, ugly (mostly great). I truly wish I could give this venue five stars. I believe it has excellent potential, but there were a few things that were very upsetting to us. With this being said, there is nowhere else I would have wanted to get married.I’m still not sure Jocelyn (owner) even knows who I am. Every time I came up to the venue she looked at me like we had never met. When I arrived for my bridal portraits she seemed confused to see me, even though I had communicated with her multiple times through email & text.If you are a very organized, Type A bride, this is probably not the venue for you. I’m not sure if it’s because we brought in our own wedding coordinator or what, but Jocelyn was not very receptive to us. Instead of communicating with me about table set ups and rental items, she simply told me to work with my coordinator on this. Without Jocelyn’s help, I planned the entire ceremony & reception set up, and sent her a very detailed email with pictures and PDFs for reference. I sent her this email 6 weeks before our wedding, just to make sure there was time to make changes if needed. I got a reply thanking me for the detailed email. Four days before my wedding, she informed me that I could not have the tables set up the way I had asked because they had gotten new farm tables and they were 150lbs each and didn’t like moving them. I had already done table arrangements, paid an artist to paint our guest’s names for the seating chart, and confirmed floral arrangements. I was asked three separate times what items I wanted to rent from her, even though I had sent a detailed list in my email over a month before. Jocelyn eventually compromised with me and myself and our wedding party physically moved some of the farm tables out of the reception hall. Twickenham never set up some of the things we specifically asked for (volleyball net, big JENGA, croquet, bocce ball). On Friday – she tried to convince us to do our rehearsal dinner up at the cliffs even though it was freezing cold and windy. Her staff then didn’t start setting up or cleaning the grounds until hours before our rehearsal. She stated she could not get ahold of them and they had already set up at the cliffs. We also paid $175 for someone to “man” the fire during our ceremony and didn’t see the guy the entire time. In a nut shell, she was extremely unorganized and unreceptive to us. I was warned by a previous bride not to use her for planning or weekend of coordinating and I’m glad I listened. I find it hard to believe that they treated Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, this way when they got married. However – we had an incredible weekend despite everything. The view made the rest of the headaches worth it. I hope that very soon Jocelyn hires someone who can run this venue better than she can. Reviewed on 21-10-2018

It's a perfect place to spend an extended weekend with family and friends celebrating and making memories. The main house is charming, quite large, and the bridal suite is lovely and spacious. Several guest rooms in the main house and the separate guest house are also very nice. We were so happy that our families, bridal parties, and their kids were all able to stay with us at the top of the mountain for the entire extended weekend...it was like a wedding oasis. We also enjoyed the billiards room, sauna, and other features at the house, but the biggest plus was just the setting. They have a beautiful yard, and you can talk a short walk up to an overlook with incredible views of the valley. The reception venue is also beautiful and rustic. Huge fireplace. We were at first impressed with the view of this property from the outside when we arrived. However, it was downhill from then. We were assigned at the main house. Our bedroom has a musty smell, the bathtub was dirty, the bathroom sink was cracked and dirty. The TV in our room was not working. The Wifi was not working. The jacuzzi was not working. The sofas, chair cushions are worn out. My sister and her family stayed at the barn/Twinky place. She said that there were huge flies in her bedroom, After the rehearsal dinner, a couple of the guests were in the dining room for late night snacks. We saw 2 rats ran across the floor in the kitchen. The following night after the wedding, my family and I were in the dining room again having coffee. Once again, we saw a total of 4 rats running across the kitchen floor to the formal dining room while another rat ran inside the microwave room. My husband also said that he saw a rat in the kitchen at the hall where the wedding reception was held. Sunday morning, there was a blackout and there was no electricity for a couple of hours. When we called the management to inform her that the backup generator did not kick on. We did not have our wedding here because we couldn't even coordinate a tour of the grounds.\r\rWe booked a tour through theknot.com three weeks in advanced. When I spoke with the owner of Twickenham House he said we could receive a discount at the Holiday Inn if we mentioned touring their facility. When I called Twickenham back to confirm the discount and the tour, I received no answer and got a text from a number with the same area code asking to call me back later. I asked who it was and it was Jocelyn from Twickenham. She said she was with her Husband at the hospital and could not answer, but would call me back. Weird indeed, but I waited for a call I never received. I called the next day and spoke with Jocelyn to find out that she had no idea of any discount, but that our tour was confirmed. She said she would speak with the owner, Eric, to discuss the discount and would send me an email. I waited for an email I never received and so I called back and got Eric on the phone. He told me the best they could do was the regular online discount Holiday Inn offered, and that I should wait until he calls me back because he believed that Jocelyn was having surgery the day of our tour. I called back to go ahead and cancel the tour because that was the only time we would be able to visit while on our trip, and after 10+ phone calls I received no answer and no phone calls back. I reached out to my venue concierge who reached out to Twickenham. They responded to her stating that Jocelyn was in fact having surgery and that they had already booked our wedding date. This was VERY strange considering our wedding date is not set in stone and two hours ago the date was available. I then received a phone call from Eric, the owner, who VERY RUDELY claimed that I harassed his employee by calling the estates main line. Apparently the main line at Twickenham is just linked to Jocelyn's cell phone who is very unprofessional. He then threatened to have me arrested for harassment because I called them more than once.\r\rAll in all an extremely unprofessional and unorganized company. Very bad experience for my fiance and I and I would NEVER recommend anyone have their wedding here. Reviewed on 10-03-2016
