I have nothing but amazing things to say about Unity Village. The event planners are top notch and very accommodating. We rented out their outdoor fountain and rose garden areas on one of the hottest days of the year. They helped us find extension cords and extra shade/tents that day to make the day as enjoyable as possible. Really the only drawback is that the food and beverage packages are very expensive, although VERY GOOD! Reviewed on 15-11-2023

From outside seating to the reception room, I could not have asked for anything better. Communicating with her was a breeze and she has a beautiful personality. We discussed several locations at Unity Village that we may possibly hold the ceremony and chose the Rose Garden. It was perfect for the intimate wedding I was hoping for. Amanda Kuehn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-07-2022 We worked with a few different point people at Unity Village as we arranged for our mid-July wedding in Kansas City from our home in San Francisco. Angel was especially great about answering all of our questions and helping us to visualize what our wedding might look like in Lowellâs Terrace Garden and the Chapel in the Woods. I highly recommend these less popular venues for an intimate outdoor ceremony, especially in the summer, when the trees provide much-needed shade. Angel met with our KC friends who toured the space for us and showed them the grounds, the backup chapel, and the hotel suites. Then Jamie took over as the Unity point of contact for our rehearsal and ceremony. We were all set for a ceremony in the Chapel in the Woods and planned to use the getting ready rooms in the hotel, but predicted temperatures of over 100 degrees made us rethink the plan. Luckily, no one else had booked a wedding on the property for the same day and the staff was incredibly understanding about our last-minute change. We ended up moving the ceremony into the Atrium and using the Atrium dressing rooms for final touches before walking down the aisle. The menâs dressing room was a bit snug, but the womenâs was quite spacious, with ample mirrors and lighting. We did our first look in Lowellâs Terrace Garden on the footbridge, which is a short walk from the getting-ready room in the hotel. Our videographer was able to capture some great drone footage of the campus and we were allowed 1 hour of âtower timeâ at the top of the Unity Village tower. We ran into a few snags with music during our ceremony, but itâs hard to say what went wrong. We booked a block of rooms in the hotel, including the king suite, where we spent our wedding night and which we had access to the whole day of our wedding (which was especially helpful as one of the groomsmen needed to shower and another needed to shave). We also booked the Hummingbird House and the Filmore Manor, which are two Airbnb properties located on the Unity Campus. The accommodations were more expensive than others in the area, but it was so great to have our family on site and close to everything. We had 11 women getting ready together the morning of the wedding and loved being in the Hummingbird House for this experience. On the whole, we were pleased with the ceremony, the site, and our experience working with the event staff at Unity. We recommend reading carefully through the contract and ensuring a full understanding of all charges prior to making a final payment. Reviewed on 30-12-2022

I booked the space in November for a February wedding. I had the grand ballroom booked for Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch receptions. Denise and Angel were like a dynamic duo tag teaming for and with me to make sure everything I requested was made possible. I did a lot of things at my wedding that were not the norm for UV weddings, and Denise and Angel werenât just accommodating, they were thrilled and excited to help modify and readjust as we went along!I fell in the with the venue years ago, and always dreamed of having my reception at Unity Village. My photos with the architecture are stunning, and my first look at the top of the tower was downright magical!I knew the hotel staff was incredible from my many tours, but man our wedding guests couldnât stop gushing about how awesome their stay was! We booked something like 38 (out of 50) rooms and both the AirB&Bs on site and family and guests had a blast! I highly recommend checking out the AirB&Bs. I originally thought it would be great for immediate family, but unfortunately we realized the houses are so old theyâre not wheelchair friendly, making it too difficult to get our grandparents in and out. So my husband ended up having his friends in one house and enjoyed having that last bachelor night with his best friends. The day of was made so so easy for me because everyone on staff was so well informed of what was happening and when, so they were able to be really helpful. I honestly had such a stress free night. Denise and Angel went above and beyond and Denise even drove me from the tower to the grand ballroom so no one in my family would have to miss my entrance into the ballroom! I delt with three different people through the process and things may not of been passed on clearly through the switches. When I toured the venue I was totally sold on the accommodations there. I toured the hotel and they really talked it up about families making it a whole weekend thing there. I was never told till I tried to make a room block that the hotel was completely booked with a retreat that weekend and they only had rooms open the night of the wedding.( check in time being after the wedding so they wouldn't of even been able to get ready in their room) They would mention things they could do like changing draping colors but never mentioned they were added prices until you actually agreed to do it. We had originally wanted the buffet with 3 sides but at the tasting we were told we could do chicken tenders and fries for kids meals. With that news we decided on only doing 2 sides and taking off the Mac and cheese cause we didn't need to make sure there was food kids liked anymore with chicken tenders. Night of wedding there was no chicken tenders. Also had a cake that could feed 100 but no where near that in guests and didn't get back what we believe we should of. The panoramic views of the Kansas City area from high above the Unity Village grounds were absolutely amazing, making it the perfect venue for the romantic renewal of our wedding vows. The service we received from the Weddings and Events office was exceptional! Our event-planning angel was Gretchen. It was she who suggested the tower location, but offered us other venue options as well, one of which was the beautiful Atrium Garden Chapel. From our first interactions with Gretchen, she always tried to make sure that we were getting everything our hearts desired for this special occasionâincluding an officiant list, support materials for the ceremony, and suggestions for accommodations available on Unity Villageâs gorgeous grounds. Most importantly, we always felt that Gretchen genuinely wanted to make this the best possible experience for us, and that made it especially enjoyable to work with her!Our officiant was Rev. Michael Perrie, an ordained Unity minister, who co-created a very meaningful vow renewal ceremony with us, and even took the time to arrange for the background music to accompany our vow exchange. Having a high-quality Unity minister to enrich and preside over our ceremony made the experience all the more meaningful for usâwe could genuinely feel Godâs presence as we renewed our vows.We highly recommend Unity Village as an ideal setting for any wedding ceremonyâone that would be absolutely perfect for getting a newlywed couple off to a good start on their journey of a lifetime together. The picture opportunities are endless with all of buildings, fountains, and landscape. We were worried it was going to rain which concerned us because the indoor chapel area is very outdated and does not compare at all to the outside space. Unity Village is very up and coming and renewing their spaces so hopefully in the near future the indoor chapel space is updated because it could really use it in my opinion! Hannah and Bobby-the wedding coordinators were extremely helpful and always able to answer our questions along with being very timely and accommodating. I never felt like they wouldnât be willing to help or make changes if needed. The only thing that was a little bit of a con was the grooms dressing rooms/getting ready room is very small compared to the bridal one and the guys ended up hanging out in the bridal suite because theirs was very small. Along with the only bathrooms (that we found at least) were connected to the bridal suite so when guests were coming in from the parking lot and going to the bathroom they were seeing the bride & groom and the bridal party which caught us all off guard and was kind of disappointing because usually guests shouldnât see the party/bride and groom before hand. Possibly adding another bathroom for guests before hand would be helpful. Other than that Unity Village was a great space for our wedding! I couldnât imagine doing it anywhere else. The space is so big and you have it all to yourself itâs great. The reception space is newly redone and is great for large weddings. We had over 200 people in the space and never felt crowded at all. Joseph Brown(groom)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-05-2019 Our overall experience with Unity Village was less than satisfactory. Though they gave us a great ceremony and reception, everything leading up to it was dissapointment after disappointment. Unity Village gives their guests the option of having an outdoor wedding ceremony with a backup indoor chapel in case of weather. They also have the reception hall on grounds with full food and bar service and a hotel within walking distance. These features is what brought us to Unity Village. Their grounds and chapels are very well maintained and are great for wedding ceremonies. Their food and bar service are spectacular, and their staff are very friendly and professional. They certainly know how to throw a great party. But despite all their strengths, there is one main reason I would not recommend them for your wedding venue. That is that we were lied to many times during the process. It started when we first signed on with them. We signed our contract for our certain date and they said once the down payment was made we could not cancel. They could only cancel for certain reasons. These being weather, natural disaster, war, etc. So a few months after we made our down payment, they emailed us saying due to circumstances beyond their control they needed to remove us from our date. This is nearly a year prior to our selected date. They gave us no specific reason. We then went to reschedule and they gave us a discount for the hassle. For our new date they told us that we were the only ones on the grounds that day and that their hotel had nearly all its rooms available. So we should have nearly the entire hotel. Well, a few months later we went to block our rooms and the hotel desk said they only had a few rooms available. The entire hotel was booked on our day. This caused us to look into hotels within a short driving distance from the grounds a few months prior to our date.At the first few meetings they also told us we could bring our own beer to the reception. The only stipulation to this is that they needed to serve it and at the end of the night we could take what was left with us. Well, that changed toward the end. They told us we could not bring our own beer, but they could purchase whatever we wanted locally. The deal was that we pay for the beer in full upfront, they buy and serve, and what doesn't sell we get back. We agreed to this and a few weeks after they email us saying that we couldn't take what didn't sell and we wouldn't get a refund. So this deal got cancelled. Overall; I would not recommend Unity Village for your wedding venue despite all their strengths and conveniences. The added stress their lies caused us during our planning was not worth what they provided. Reviewed on 19-05-2019

Tyler Riordan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2016 I have wanted to get married at Unity Village for as long as I can remember. We had our ceremony and reception on campus. The coordinators were awesome! We had Carrie and Kirby, they were both extremely helpful. They kept the day on track and also made sure that random people didn't get in our way for photos and that there were no stragglers on campus during our ceremony so there were prom photos in the background. The ceremony was on the bridge of faith and it was beautiful! The only suggestion I would have on this is that if you want to be standing on the bridge make sure to check the times for sunset as we had to stand at the foot of the bridge so that I wasn't looking directly into the sun during our vows (wouldn't have been great photos if I were squinting the whole time). So if it is important to you to stand on the bridge have a later wedding time, or a different season, ours was 04/23/16 at 5:30 pm. The reception was great as well, the food was very good! The coordinators even made sure we had a to-go box for each of us to be able to eat later, this was clutch. You get to talking to people and barely eat during the actual dinner. Price point is great, we had about 200 guests and it was very affordable. Even though it is an affordable venue I didn't feel that we were having to sacrifice a beautiful venue or quality for the price point. The campus is beautiful and reception hall is also a great space. Angela Alesi is their event coordinator and she was great to work with. She makes sure the day is all planned out then hands it over to her day of coordinators. She was always quick to respond to emails and any questions we had. The campus also has a hotel which was super convenient for our out of town guests. I also stayed there on Friday night and we had the honeymoon suite the night of the wedding so we didn't have to arrange transportation. Reviewed on 01-06-2016
Antonette Galeassi(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-09-2015 The ceremony went great! My reception was fun as well. Although I had many guests tell me later that the waitresses/waiters and servers at the bar were very rude to them. Which is why I gave the venue a three for overall. Reviewed on 12-01-2016

I just got married here and we chose the venue specifically for the outside space. We lucked out with the gorgeous weather and everything was a dream come true! The on-site coordinators were fantastic! Security was able to keep homecoming girls and random bystanders out of our wedding area and out of our guests sight. We also did the reception here and service was fantastic. They also gave us a little lee-way with set up times as we needed more time than what they had originally scheduled us. A couple of our servers were a little on the grumpy side and bumped heads with my coordinator, but I was unaware of this until after the fact. There is a bit of fine print with expenses that we were unaware of when we signed the contract, but those expenses were explained in full before wedding day so we knew what to expect. Also, the venue wedding coordinator was sometimes difficult to get ahold which became frustrating when I needed to know an answer immediately. All in all, I would still highly recommend this venue for both ceremony and reception. The venue is beautiful and the staff really do work hard to make sure your day is beyond perfect! All the stressing and hard work definitely paid off come wedding day! Reviewed on 25-09-2015
bradye Peniston(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-06-2015 Our pictures turned out beautiful because of the landscape this place offers!! Fountains and flowers made our fairy tale truly magical. However, there were multiple things that would make me reconsider using this venue. On the day of our wedding we weren't allowed into the reception hall until two hours before our wedding. Reception started at 5 but our wedding was at a church off campus at 4. I was stressed because how do you ask someone to decorate for you the hour leading up to your wedding?! We asked to get in earlier and it was difficult to get much leeway, especially when they booked a luncheon there until 1. The day of our wedding we were out taking pics and a lady I had never met came yelling at my husband and I to get inside so they could serve dinner although it was 15 minutes until we planned on dinner. I didn't appreciate the way she took care of things that night. Be sure to ask and meet who will be there at your reception. Then our guests weren't served the champagne we had ordered for the tables and a lot of people weren't served cake!!! We also had some fees at the end that were not covered when we originally met.At the end of the night, these are not the things we will remember but it was unfortunate.treconsider Reviewed on 06-09-2015

Jennifer Schaefer(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-05-2013 the grounds are beautiful, don't count on the fountains working or the tower to be free of construction. they do book more than 1 wedding per day (usually around 3) plus it's public space so always possible ppl walking around. the rececption hall has beautiful windows that with the right decor can be great. ceiling is ugly. the hotel is awesome for getting ready if you book the bridal suite, very big. guest thought our reception was gorgeous, we had it in the reception hall with a cocktail hour in the rose garden. food was good, we did plated. Just hard to get ahold of the wedding coordinators, for example the friday before my wedding day no one showed up to coordinate our set-up and learn how to play our video. The price listed is expensive because we did open bar ($20 per head) and plated dinner ($20/head) and lots of guests but you can make it alot cheaper Reviewed on 11-06-2013
Cheri Leblanc(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-09-2012 Amazing support from the entire staff. What a wonderful relief. As the second wedding in our family, huge kudos to the Unity Village Staff. All of our out of town guests raved about the hotel, Jeanne, Mark, their staff and the accomodations. Sheri, Angela, OJ and their team provided exceptional service from day one of planning through our event. Fast responses from Sheri to questions or concerns were always the norm with wonderful suggestions to bring together details we had not considered. Extremely professional in every aspect. The wedding was planned to take place outside on the Bridge of Faith after a long, dry summer. Then hurricane Issac blew in the day before and it appeared all activities would move inside. Talk about a disappointment. One (1) hour before the ceremony, the rain suddenly stopped, Angela and her crew immediately took steps to dry benches, tidy the area, and the ceremony went without a hitch! It was beautiful! The feast that OJ and his staff prepared was fabulous, down to the table settings. All of this on a strict budget. We shopped around many venues but couldn't afford the extremes. Unity Village staff provided those perks and left us feeling that we gave our daughter and son-in-law with a wedding they will look back on with very fond memories. Don't waste your time running all over town trying to put it altogether. All of our guests raved about the service, the beautiful grounds and orchestration of the whole event. So why stress? Sheri and her staff have everything ready and waiting for you. Reviewed on 27-09-2012
Kirby Ritter(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2018 As soon as I signed the contract with Unity Village I never heard from them again unless I physically went to the location and even then sometimes the planners were not in. The location is great because many of our guests were out of town so the hotel on the grounds was a huge plus. The views for photography are great. The catering selections from when I booked (2011) to my day (2012) became much more limited with higher prices. The food was nothing spectualar, just run of the mill wedding food. The buffets were nothing to write home about either so I was not impressed. And if you want an outside caterer? Forget about it, the surcharge alone will scare you away. The venue is well worth the money, but the food, staff and managing of your event are not. Reviewed on 28-06-2012

The staff went above and beyond my expectations to assure my wedding was exactly how I dreamed it to be. They were there when I or my family /friends needed assistances, when I asked for something to be changed at the last minute, they were happy to do so, or even when I felt overwelmed they were they to help calm me down. Angela Cap(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-07-2010 Overall, everything with Unity Village turned out well for my wedding day. \rHowever, there were a couple of things about Unity Village that I was not happy with. First, there was major construction going on at Unity for several months and we were never told the extent of this construction. None of the fountains were working and a lot of the beauty and charm of Unity was completely gone. \rMy biggest gripe is that on my actual wedding day, I was assigned an attendant from Unity Village who failed to turn off her cell phone during our wedding ceremony. It rang very loudly at a quiet part of our ceremony. She also showed up 25 minutes late the day of the wedding and the groomsmen could not get into their dressing room on time. \rAll in all, my wedding was a beautiful day and the problems I had with Unity Village didn't make a huge negative impact on the day. It is clean and the chapel is beautiful, but it's a little bit too pricy. It's a great place to take photos when there's not construction. Reviewed on 16-11-2010
